Fun characters facing interesting events fill this book similar to the experience offered by the first book, "No Substitute for Murder". The pacing is fine but a little slower than the first book in the series. The story was a bit less complex or compelling but still very enjoyable.

This novel should be labeled Part II of the author's earlier work. There are a number of references to occurrences in the first book. However central character Barbara we all can relate to as a person with money crunch, sometimey romance, faithful pet and understanding friends. Quick and definitely a fun read with a surprising and suspenseful ending.

There are 3 books in this series ( I hope more will be available). I have read all 3--enjoyed them. Nothing to make you feel uneasy. As a Senior reader, I don't need sex and over the top violence, just a simple, easy story with nice people.
