He’s always made the scoring plays, both on and off the ice, but this time he has a new goal … the one for Meghan’s heart.

I’m Justin Davis, all-star center for the Charlotte Strikers. For years, I chased the spotlight, not only with hockey, but through television as well. That’s why I decided to play the bachelor on Rich and Single. Unfortunately, I was stuck with a fake fiancée from hell who I couldn’t stand to be around. Now that our contract is up, I’m allowed to do whatever I want, with whoever I want. I plan to take full advantage of my newfound freedom.

After being on the show, people don’t recognize me for hockey anymore, even with just winning the Stanley Cup for my team. That’s why I’m spending the off season in a remote cabin in Wyoming where the chances of people knowing me are slim. Space is what I need, but when a down to earth beauty needs help on her ranch, I can’t resist. Meghan Taylor is exactly what I’ve been looking for, even though I’m not the kind of man she wants.

Getting her to see the real me has its challenges, but the more time I spend with her, the easier it is for her to see that I’m not the same guy she knows from TV. Being away from the media is one thing, but as soon as I go back in the spotlight, I’m afraid it’ll change what we have. I don’t want to lose her, but I also can’t hide away in Wyoming forever. It’s a choice I’m not ready to make.

What is better than a sports romance novel? How about one that merges the best parts of a small town romance into the story? Off the Ice has everything I expect from a sports romance and took it one step further by blending elements of an adorable meet cute and small town feel into the mix! Justin and Meghan work so well. In today’s society, everyone wants the romance of the small town girl with the superstar but often times it is uglier and harder than it first appears. This book dives into that space, giving us a story filled with heart, healing, and second chances. What is it about books like these? They make me want to drop everything and move to the middle of nowhere USA to find my one true love. I love that these two found love when they least expected it. Justin was trying to find peace, a place to clear his head and find direction in his life. Meghan was learning to move on and blaze a new trail for her and her daughter. These two fall hard for each other and I loved it. Even more, I loved how Justin doted on Meghan’s daughter. It was so heart warming and adorable. The highs and lows in their relationship make for fun reading! Off the Ice has a lot going on but LP Dover makes it work well. If you are looking for a flirty, weekend read, check this one out. It has emotion, steam, heartfelt moments, and the best kind of HEA!

I am always excited when L. P. Dover comes out with a new book in the Breakaway series. I like her writing style and have enjoyed reading all the books in this series about sexy hockey players. All the books are heartwarming, sweet and sexy. This is the fourth book in the series and each book is a standalone but the characters are interconnected. OFF THE ICE features Justin, a professional hockey player with the Charlotte Strikers. Justine has always craved the spotlight but after taking part In a TV reality show and receiving a lot of negative publicity, he questions his choices. He is tired of being in the public eye and having the media hounding him. To get get away from his crazy life he decides to spend the summer at his ranch in Wyoming. Justine meets Meghan when he arrives at his ranch. Megan lives across the street from him and even though she recognizes Justine, she treats him like a regular guy. Justine’s life is at an all time low and Meghan is like a breath of fresh air. She is honest, friendly and loyal. Meghan makes Justine realize what a self absorbed guy he has become. I liked Meghan and Justin. They are good together and bring out the best in each other. They meet at a time in their lives when they are ready settle down but circumstances keep them apart. Justin is a good guy but has made some bad decisions and now he has to figure out how keep Meghan in his life. I enjoyed this entertaining story and would recommend it. I not only like the two main characters in this story, but there are many entertaining secondary characters as well.

Single mom, Meghan Taylor, loves her life even if she’s a little lonely. Finding time to date while taking care of her daughter and a full-time teaching job, and with limited options has left Meghan unfulfilled. Realizing the handsome stranger she bumped into outside the airport is none other than the Charlotte Strikers newly-single Center, Meghan decides to take a chance. Justin Davis is looking for a respite from the media swirling around him. His team just repeated their win of the Stanley Cup and he just won his freedom from his media-loving fiancée. Regretting his choices while he appeared on Rich and Single and what led him to proposing to the wrong woman, breaking up with her on national TV might have been the best decision he ever made. Buying the ranch across the road from the gorgeous widow, definitely tops the list. I loved this storyline and was hooked immediately. The characters were fully developed and the chemistry between them was white-hot! The heroine was naturally comfortable in her environment. I loved that her decisions were based on the wellbeing of her daughter and not just her lust for her new neighbor. I loved the hero was down-to-earth and was able to realize there was more going on than just a case of lust and was willing to do whatever it took to make their relationship work. I look forward to reading more by this author.

OFF THE ICE was such a cute read. It was very heartwarming and sad at the same time. The characters are very likable and actually very down to earth. Justin, while having issues from the previous book that did slightly make him seem a bit of butthead, really surprised me in this book. He was very aware of his faults and wanted to change, but he acknowledged that some things are not changeable. But boy does he have his work cut out for him. Meghan is such a sweet and loving character. She doesn’t assume anything and lets things fall as they should. But, she has a tendency to see issues that are not there. Instead of trying to work through them, she finds another way to make them more important than they are. But she also has realizations about herself and her situations, so it all works. Overall, I really liked the story and the characters. There were some slow parts, but it didn’t take away from the overall storyline. A nice read with some drama and one really big hit by karma. Totally rocked!

4.5 Stars! Off the Ice, the fourth installment from L.P. Dover's Breakaway series, is well-written, hot, and full off heartwarming moments. I loved the main characters, professional hockey player Justin Davis, and fifth grade school teacher Meghan Taylor. In addition, the happiness Meghan's eight year old daughter Ellie exudes kept me smiling from ear to ear. Meghan is a single mom who lost her husband after only two months of marriage. She never thought she could find love again, until Justin enters her life. They meet at the Jackson Hole airport, where they share a ride to their respective homes. Although Meghan recognizes Justin immediately from his time as a bachelor on reality TV, she does not let on that she is aware of his identity. Meghan's ability to treat Justin as an average joe goes a long way, and they immediately form a a friendship. Meghan is back home to fix her fence while Ellie is visiting with her parents in Nags Head. Justin is spending the off season at his new ranch, away from the relentless paparazzi and Miranda, the manipulative shrew he was forced to choose as his fiance, and is now free from. I truly liked this engaging romance. This book is filled with raw emotions from many of the characters, and it is an amazing combination of interesting plot, well-defined personalities and family love. I immediately connected with Meghan and Justin, and there was never a moment that I did not want them to be together. Ms. Dover evolved their love story with tenderness, sexy times, and realism. This is a terrific read and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

After taking Dallas's place on the television dating show and inheriting the fiancee from hell Justin was really glad when the season ended and he could get rid of his unwanted "fiance", now he needed a chance to recharge his batteries and where better than the new ranch he has just bought in Wyoming. While here he meets his new neighbour Meghan a widowed mother and the best thing she doesn't know who he is (or does she) . What started out as helping one another and been friends soon escalated into so much more Will another Charlotte Striker meet his match. This was a great fun story that was just as entertaining as the previous books in this series I am very sad that this is the end of what has been a wonderful ride

Justin Davis is know for his hockey skills as a center for the Charlotte Strikers and also for being the latest bachelor on the popular television show Rich and Single. Being a celebrity, women are drawn to him, including his fake-fiancee, Miranda. As winner of Rich and Single, she has a contract that states they are to be engaged for a year after the end of the show. Miranda was only after Justin for his money and popularity to further herself in life. She didn't truly care about him which is why he left her and ventured far away from North Carolina. He purchased a ranch in Wyoming in hopes of avoiding the crazy reporters that were determined to learn about his breakup with Miranda. Soon after arriving in Montana, Justin meets the beautiful Meghan Taylor who just happens to be his neighbor. She treats him like a regular guy and not someone who is famous. He finds her very refreshing and longs to spend as much time as possible with her. Together they find themselves happier than either one has been in a long time. Will Meghan be able to bring out Justin's true self and love him for who he is? Or will she be driven away by his crazy ex-fiancee before Justin has the chance to claim her for himself? Off the Ice is the story of a man who is trying to find himself and get away from the stress that comes with being a famous hockey player and a television star. Justin just wants to relax and enjoy the solitude on his new ranch. After meeting his neighbor, Meghan, he is smitten and finds it hard to leave her side. They awaken feelings that they both had buried deep inside and make each other come alive. Justin's story is by far my favorite in the Breakaway series! After watching his friends and family members find the loves of their lives, all he wants is to find someone that will love him for who he is. You'll fall head over heels for this sweet hockey romance! Great job L.P. Dover!

Off The Ice by L.P. Dover is the fourth book in her Breakaway series. A surprisingly emotional series of wonderful and unique men and women intertwined in the fictional Charlotte Strikers NHL team. This is the story of Justin Davis and of a new to us character, Meghan Taylor. After a grueling 12 months pretending to be with his on-screen Fiancée, Justin is done. He needs to take a break. Hockey season is over, the Stanley Cup is won, and he is heading to his newly purchased ranch in Wyoming. What he least expects on his incognito getaway is a beautiful next-door neighbor that is taking his fame in stride. Meghan is back home for the summer. Her daughter still with her parents in Nags Head. The reason for the separation, much needed work to do on the ranch. What Meghan doesn't expect is a super hot and super famous next door neighbor that is doing everything he can to help her and spend time with her with no expectations in return. The backstories are touching, the transformations of the characters are heartwarming, and the glimpse of some of the past series characters is precious. I really enjoyed this book in the series. Enjoy!

Coming off a year obligation with his fake fiancee, Justin wins the Stanley Cup and then ends his engagement on live TV. Needing to get away from the craziness that was Rich and Single, Justin decides to hide away at his new ranch in Wyoming. When he meets Meghan at the airport he's taken with her beauty, her personality, and the fact that she seems to not know who he is. Meghan has been a widow and single mom for the past eight years. When she literally runs into Justin at the airport, she suppresses her inner fangirl and offers him a ride home. What follows is the development of a fantastic friendship that grows with every passing day. I loved the relationship between Justin and Meghan. Even though you would think that there wouldn't be much in common between a teacher and a hockey and reality star, these two fit together perfectly. I am sad to see this series come to an end. I wanted to see so many of the characters see their own stories but I am looking forward to whatever comes next from this author! *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*

Another amazing book by L.P. Dover. It was a fun read and I was hooked from the very beginning. Justin and Meghan might not have been looking for a relationship especially with all the obstacles that they were facing but when it’s meant to be it’s meant to be. Justin was trying to get away from his nightmare of an ex-fiancé and Meghan is trying to use the few weeks she has to fix up her ranch but when they both meet sparks start flying. Justin might have thought that he was happy with his old life but as soon as he meets Meghan and Ellie he realizes that he much prefers the quiet life. Off The Ice was a fun, addictive read and I can’t wait to read more of L.P.’s work. ***Received this ARC by NetGalley as an exchange for an honest review.

3.75 stars--OFF THE ICE is the fourth instalment in LP Dover’s contemporary, adult BREAKAWAY hockey, romance series focusing on the men and women of the Charlotte Strikers, professional hockey team. This is all-star center / reality TV star Justin Davis, and single mother/ primary school teacher Meghan Taylor’s story line. OFF THE ICE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual first person perspectives (Justin and Meghan) OFF THE ICE follows the building relationship between all-star center / reality TV star Justin Davis, and single mother/ primary school teacher Meghan Taylor. The Charlotte Strikers have just won their second Stanley Cup, and Justin is desperate for some down time in the wake of the televised break-up with his ‘reality TV fiancee’ Miranda Davenport- a spoiled rich heiress whose father pulls the purse strings of many of Hollywood’s leading producers. Time alone to work on his newly acquired Wyoming ranch finds Justin face to face with his future, neighboring rancher, single mother and primary school teacher Meghan Taylor. What ensues is the building but secret relationship between Meghan and Justin, and the potential fall-out as the end of summer approaches, and Justin heads back to get ready for the upcoming hockey season. Justin Davis is a former bachelor reality star whose personal life had spiralled out of control when the woman he chose made his life a living h*ll. One year later Justin proclaims the end of their relationship on national TV, then ventures to Wyoming for some well-deserved R&R where he will meet single mother Meghan Taylor. Hoping to protect her daughter from the prying eyes of the media, Meghan and Justin keep their relationship on the down-low until the couple find themselves on the front pages of the local rags. The relationship between Meghan and Justin is one of immediate attraction. Meghan has loved and lost, but isn’t willing to risk her daughter’s happiness for a few weeks of $ex and fun; Justin is hoping for his own happily ever after. The $ex scenes are passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. Most of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting characters including Maddox Ledger and Lacey Easton (Playmaker #3) and Dallas Easton and Justin’s sister Callie Davis (Blocked #2). We are introduced to Meghan’s daughter Ellie, and Meghan’s sister Kimberly. The world building follows the building romance and love between Meghan and Justin, as well as the potential fall-out of Justin’s aborted relationship between Justin and Miranda. OFF THE ICE is a fast paced, story of romance and love, friends and family. The premise is engaging and captivating; the characters are colorful and real; the romance is spirited and true. The story line conflict is limited. OFF THE ICE is a welcome addition to LP Dover’s BREAKAWAY series.

3 1/2 Stars. Justin plays in the NHL and he was on a reality bachelor show on TV ... every woman’s bad boy crush. But he needs a break from it all, so he buys a ranch in Wyoming. Meghan’s husband died 8 years ago while serving his country in Afghanistan. Meghan and their daughter Ellie still live on the ranch and Meghan is a school teacher. When Justin and Meghan meet, their chemistry is too hard to resist, so they agree to a summer affair and then they will part ways. This is a sweet romance and the characters are very likeable, but everything is very predictable. And for being a romance with a hockey player ... there’s actually next to no hockey on the book. I did like that the author chose for Meghan to be a mother and that Ellie was a sweet little girl. I received an ARC courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.

My goodness, L.P. Dover has done it again. In the final book in the Breakaway Series we finally get our look into the life of Justin Davis. He is one of the hot and talented members of the Charlotte Strikers Hockey Team. Justin decides to spend the summer off season away from everyone on a ranch. Meghan is a ranch owner who is looking to spend her summer fixing up her property. She is not looking for new friends and definitely not a new man. L.P. Dover is an author that is able to get her readers into the minds of her characters without making is seem forced or off-putting. As a reader, I was able to know how the characters felt and thought without two pages of useless words. Dover is a real wizard with words and with that comes great responsibility to bring truly epic stories to life and she has done that masterfully. I would highly recommend not only Off the Ice, but the other Breakaway Novels.

Hockey players....who doesn't love hockey players? OK, I know they are not everyone's cup of tea but this series could be the one to sway ya! I was looking forward to Justin's book! And Ms. Dover came through. This is the story of Justin and Meghan.  And what a lovely story it was. Justin is finally free from a nightmare of a contract and he wants to get away from it all.  A chance to recharge and find some solace.  He runs to his ranch in Wyoming, hoping to find the peace he needs. Meghan is the picture of perfection.  Although she has had tragedy in her life she is working to create happiness for herself and her daughter. A chance encounter between the two and the sparks fly.  Justin finds Meghan's "normal" just what he needs in his upheaval of a life.  Meghan realizes that she finally found someone that makes her feel again. The chemistry between these two is fabulously hot.  They are friends first and that what makes a great relationship (at least in my opinion). There is steaminess, there is romance and there is a beautiful love story here! Get your hands on it!

This was a fun, sweet romance that really hits you in the feelings! I love sports romance, and this whole series has been great! This book, unlike a lot of sports romance, doesn't throw out a lot of technical terms, trying to impress the reader with their sports knowledge. It focuses more on the romance between the characters, one of whom just happens to be a hot shot hockey player! Justin is in hot water! His life has skidded off the rails, and he has to lay low for a while! He decides to spend some time at his ranch, in Wyoming. He loves his life, but just wants to be himself for a while. On the way to the ranch, he meets Meghan, who treats him like a normal person, befriending him, but still keeping him at arms length. Meghan has a good life, but she has fought hard for her happiness. Getting involved with someone like Justin, who drama seems to follow, doesn't seem like a good idea. I loved this story. The connection between Justin and Meghan was magical, even when it seemed hopeless, and that they'd never be able to be more than friends. Even with all of the crazy in this story (and maybe because of it!) this story was a fun read, and fits in wonderfully with the other books in the series. I'd definitely recommend this story (as well as all the others) if you want a something that is going to make you smile! This is definitely that book!

L.P. Dover is on a winning streak with OFF THE ICE the fourth book in the Breakaway series. Charlotte Strikers’ center, Justin Davis, cannot go to many places without be recognized, because not only did his team just win the Stanley Cup, but he was also the recent bachelor on the Rich and Singe reality show. After breaking up with his fake fiancée on national television, Justin decides to spend the summer at the secluded ranch he recently purchased in Wyoming. When he meets his new next-door neighbor, Meghan Taylor, he likes that he can be himself around her. Now he just needs to convince her that he’s not the arrogant athlete the media portrays him as. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences. I really enjoyed this book. I was looking forward to hearing Justin’s story ever since I read book two, BLOCKED. Justin is Callie Davis’ brother and teammate of Dallas Easton from that story. I liked learning more about Justin. He has grown up a lot through this series. He really is a great guy. I love how he helps Meghan with stuff around her ranch. He’s down to earth and not what the media portrays. Meghan is a sweet character. My heart went out to her being widowed so young. She is a hard worker and good mother. The two make a wonderful couple. They have a lot of interesting obstacles they need to overcome, including dealing with Justin’s psychotic ex-fiancée; she is a piece of work. Meghan wants what is best for her daughter and is afraid to throw her in the spotlight that comes with being with Justin. The story was skillfully written and flowed well. I read the story quickly, not being able to put it down. I enjoyed the ending. It was sweet and made the story feel complete. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

At one point and time Justin Davis wanted to be in the spotlight on the ice and off, but then when he found it starring as the bachelor on Rich and Single, he quickly realized being under the microscope of the media was not a fun place to be. It only brought him unnecessary drama and fiance he loathed. But unfortunately he was under contract, so he hung in their like a trooper, and the minute he could escape that miserable part of his life, he did it, and wound up creating an media uproar. He had a plan all along though, finish the year strong on the ice, dump the drama and unwanted fiance, and escape to Wyoming for some R&R. He planned to spend the next few months alone on his new ranch, getting back to the peaceful life he use to live, but life had other plans for him. Ones that involved a beautiful single mom, who sees him for the man he is, and makes him want things he's never really thought were possible. Off the Ice was a bittersweet read for me, on one hand I couldn't wait to dive in and spend quality time with Justin and the woman who captured his heart. But, on the other hand, I knew it would lead to the end of a wonderful literary journey for me, the Breakaway series is a favorite of mine, one I always look forward to revisiting. I must say this visit was just as amazing as the last, Ms. Dover once again wowed me with her heartfelt words, and left me dizzy with swoons from her uber sexy hockey playing hero. The moment my eyes landed on the first page, Ms. Dover's captivating words took over and and lead me to my literary happy place. I loved this pairing, they brought smiles, laughs, swoons, and loads of feeling to the pages, once I met them, I didn't want to leave them! I highly recommend you check this one out, it is certain to leave you thoroughly satisfied on all fronts!! I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion
