On His Knees (Blasphemy) by Laura Kaye

Getting on his knees makes him question everything…and want even more…

Another failed relationship has lawyer Jamie Fielding confronting the truth—he’ll never be satisfied with any woman until he admits what he needs…to submit and to be used—hard. When a friend invites him to the exclusive Blasphemy club, Jamie is stunned to find everything he ever wanted—in the fierce, ruthless hands of a man.

Psychiatrist Alex McGarry will play with anyone who craves his rough brand of domination, but what he really wants is to settle down. Which makes the submissive male he meets at his club a bad idea—the man might be hot as hell but he’s also new to everything Alex has to offer. Except that doesn’t keep them from coming together again and again, sating every one of their darkest desires.

Master Alex sets Jamie’s whole world on fire and makes him question everything—and that’s good. Because Alex won’t tolerate hiding what they have for long and he wants much more than just having Jamie on his knees...

On His Knees is a short visit to the Blasphemy world. Master Alex finally meets his match in a place he never expected. I haven’t read all of this series (I don’t read a lot of erotica), but those that I’ve read I’ve enjoyed and this was no exception. Kaye’s masterful storytelling shines through as Alex and Jaime work their way to the HEA.

An Emotional Journey to Self-Discovery ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ FOUR & 1/2 - STAR ✩ REVIEW ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ > > Judging a Book by it's Cover > Looking Deeper Third person POV At nearly 30 years old, Jamie was about to take an emotional journey of self-discovery and become much more self-aware after yet another relationship hit the road after only a few short months. "Recognition of your limitations is always a strength, Jamie. In your case, your inexperience is a limitation. One you can overcome." Master Alex was approaching the big 4-0 and has begun to question his lifestyle, choices, and everything he knew and held true. But when Master Kyler dropped a potential member on him to process and give a tour, he discovered that - on paper, at least - they are nearly a perfect fit. But, he'd learned the hard way, some people SAY one thing and mean something very different. He was not quite so willing to accept this seemingly perfect pairing but he could not deny the attraction and pull he felt either. "You are my weakness. You are my strength." While one man learns all he can to become the whole person he wants to be the other is learning to accept that sometimes something so very perfect is all they need to be complete in every way. ~*~ ON HIS KNEES had two BDSM snippets that were a bit uncomfortable to read but overall the premise and display of characters and plot were fantastic and artfully done. This series ties into Laura Kaye's Hard Ink series, loosely, (which I've NOT read) and although it's the 4th book in this series, I felt it could stand alone quite well (I'd not read the previous three in this series either). It's only about 150 - 160 pages long, so a nice quick read. There was a part that had me choking up for one of the characters, almost bringing me to tears (tears are a very rare reaction and it takes a lot to truly choke me up as well). Jamie's journey... very well done. Although this story is on the shorter side, I did not find it lacking anywhere critical. The main couple is well-defined and developed. Their chemistry and compatibility were electric and nearly tangible. The cast of secondaries added some nice filler here and there. Dialogue was strong and smart. The interactions are NSFW, mature, but artfully done. The plot was thought out and flowed nicely. There was a bump in their road to their HEA that took a little time, and a push from friends, to resolve but it finally got there. Predictability was low. The conclusion was solid enough, providing their HEA, so I cannot fault the author that I wanted more of them. I would recommend this to M/M reading seeking that strong, deep emotional bond between characters. . With his thirtieth birthday looming, Jamie Fielding questions where his life is headed. Ending yet another relationship, Jamie begins to feel like there is something just out of his reach where relationships are concerned. While adding more ink to his body, Jamie converses with Jeremy at the Hard Ink Tattoo studio. During their conversation, Jeremy gets Jamie thinking about where his sexual preferences lie. As one of the Masters at Blasphemy, Alex McGarry knows a thing or two about sexual preferences. With no clear definition of a desire to only play with men or women, Alex is finding that he is not fulfilled with any partner in particular. With an introduction from another Master, Alex is introduced to a brand new potential member to the club scene. With no desire to teach a brand new submissive the ins and outs of the BDSM livelihood, Alex finds that there is something about Jamie that piques his interest. A pull that cannot be ignored. With a mutual intensity that neither man can ignore, Alex and Jamie find that they might have more in common than they think. As Alex and Jamie explore their desires with one another, a shift happens in the dynamic of how each views his sexuality. Can they find the one thing that has escaped their grasp in another male? With their desires and hearts on the line….uncovering their deepest desires might be harder than they ever imagined. Whew!! Talk about an intense search for finding your soul mate! This quest for finding that special someone isn’t without a lot of soul searching. Alex is struggling to find the person that ‘completes’ him. Jamie has never found a relationship that filled his heart. Together – they explore their desires in the realm of the BDSM world. Their kink is an exploration in trust, desire, and most of all respect. Laura Kaye has written an extremely complimentary novel that delves into the BDSM lifestyle. Something that only showers the novel with the depth of detail that Laura Kaye puts into her writing. A compliment to the intensity and realism that the author places into all of her books!! On His Knees was definitely an intense dive into the relationships that one can have when looking for love.

This is a brief and sweet story. The two who couldn't find what they were looking for find it in each other.

I absolutely loved this book. Jamie and Alex just hit it off and I just loved there characters. There wasn't all that long drawn out angst which seems to be common in books these days. My only disappointment was that it was too short. I would have loved to have this book stretched out, although other than more angst or repeated types of scenes it would have bored me. So she wrote it just right.

I loved seeing how two people recognized their soul mate and we're brave enough to fight for it?

This is book #4, in the Blasphemy series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and to fully understand the series, I recommend reading this series in order. Alex feels like he is letting down those around him. He used to believe he had his life all planned out - and suddenly it feels lost to him somehow. Then he meets someone who needs him and what he can provide. Jamie has felt like a failure for some time. He never seems to feel right about relationships. He cannot describe what he needs to someone else, so how could he find it? This was such a great journey. I like how the MC's went after what they wanted and were unapologetic. Their heat was hot. The slow burn felt almost like a live wire, because when it picked up this book was on fire. ***This early copy was given in exchange for an honest review.

I was anxiously awaiting this story. Alex is one of the Masters at Blashemy and has catered both men and women alike, However he has never found that one to fulfill him as his friends have. He longs for it so much that it' taking a toll on him. Jamie has no idea why he can't seem to enjoy being with a woman, and it has now costed him another relationship. He sets out to get a tat at Jeremys place and after a soul searching talk thinks he has figured out what is going on with himself. Blasphemy has brought good luck to 10 of the 12 owners will it again? Read your copy and find out. I truly enjoyed this story... Loved it...

4 1/2 STARS! Explosively hot! When Laura Kaye sets out to give sadist Alex McGarry his happy ending, she goes all in! Such a great read! There’s an endearing quality to Jamie that draws our (and Alex’s) attention right from the start. He’s honestly humble with how little he knows about the lifestyle, but his eagerness to find the piece of himself that has always been missing shines through to everyone that meets him. I would have loved to have had a longer story for them with more day to day living because they were just that good of a couple together. Really enjoyed! Jamie Fielding is facing yet another failed attempt at a relationship with a woman who should have been all he had ever dreamed of … but once again, it just fell flat. When a friend calls his attention to the fact that he sort of gets a rush from pain and introduces him to Club Blasphemy, his entire world changes. Could this be what he’s been yearning for all along? Master Alex has been feeling burned out for awhile now. Scene after scene with any sub who wants to feel the pain of his wrath is no longer holding the appeal that it used to. He still goes home to an empty bed. He’s not one to work with newbies to the scene, and he’s pissed off at being asked to show Jamie around on his first night at the club … but a few minutes with him, seeing the passion and awe show in every move of his face takes him back to how it used to feel. The excitement, the rush, the tingling awareness … the burning attraction between them is hard to resist, but could a novice ever be able to handle the pain he burns to give?

As usual Laura Kaye brings the whole BSDM scene to life. Jamie and Alex are an intriguing couple.   I wouldn't normally pick an man on man book but I knew that Laura would do it justice and she didn't disappoint.

I received a copy of this book from the author. The Blasphemy series is one of my favorites to read. Laura Kaye has written about all types of BDSM Masters through this series. This particular novel is a male male romance. The focus in is on Master Alex and a newcomer to the club: Jaime. Though both have very stressful jobs Alex craves the release only he as a sadist can perform. Lucky for Jamie his masochist self can have all his fantasies come true. Once these two are introduced you can just "see" the sparks fly. They have a bump or two in their story but who doesn't right? I think you will enjoy reading this novella. Even if you're not sure of the m/m romance - it's written tastefully and you might even think it's a little hot, too! This is a quick read and if you're a fan of BDSM there's several elements included in this story.

I absolutely loved this book. Alex and Jamie's story was so sweet and beautiful. Both men were lost and searching for something more. Alex knew what he was looking for but he just couldn't find someone to be his HEA. Jamie was feeling lost and he wasn't sure what it was that he was missing. He kept putting the pieces of the puzzle together to find his true self. When he and Alex come together, it's like everything clicks and seeing their journey apart and together was so beautiful. I loved seeing more of Jeremy and Charlie from the Hard Ink series and the rest of the Blasphemy crew. Laura Kaye just made On His Knees my new favorite in this series. I have already read it twice!

I've really enjoyed this series, though BDSM reads are typically not my favorite. It's just not my kink, and I was afraid I'd have a hard time connecting with the characters and their needs. So far, that hasn't been an issue at all. But it was this time. These characters' kinks are on the far end of the S&M part of BDSM, and it was hard for me to get into it. That doesn't take anything away from this author's writing, which is always stellar. Jamie Fielding is a patent lawyer, and is terrible at relationships, but not for lack of trying. He's never seemed to be able to make it work with a woman. Something is always missing, and he's never been sure what. Funny enough, a conversation with a good friend of his puts him on quite a journey of self-discovery. Not only does he come to realize that he's a masochist, but he also realizes that he is bisexual. Through an introduction to another friend of his friend, he gets an invite to check out the private BDSM club, Blasphemy. Maybe he can finally find what he's been missing. Alex McGarry is a psychiatrist, with his own practice. He's also 1/12 owner of the Blasphemy club. He's been unsatisfied with his play there for quite some time, because he wants to settle down with someone. But, he has to find someone that fully embraces him, and the pain he needs to give them. When Master Kyler asks Alex to give a new tour to a prospective member, he knows Kyler is up to something, but it isn't until he meets Jamie, that he understands why Kyler was so adamant. Their needs align perfectly, but Jamie is very new to the lifestyle, and to being with a man, and Alex isn't sure he has the heart to train a newbie at this point in his life. Alex and Jamie's chemistry was very strong from the start, and I enjoyed watching Alex fight against Jamie's pull, without success. I enjoyed their interactions with each other. But, their sexual encounters didn't really do it for me, as I am not into humiliation/pain/degradation, and while that was working well for Jamie, it just made me uncomfortable. I don't judge anyone for what they like, but I just couldn't really get into reading about it. I did feel for them, when they had their issues, because I think everyone has wondered if the person they're with is happy and proud to be with them. That's just human nature, and feeling as though that is not the case is devastating. Alex and Jamie were at different places in their lives, but, they were both looking to have a successful, long-term relationship, and they started to realize they could have that with each other. My heart was broken by the way Jamie handled rectifying their issues, and I really felt for him during those scenes. I was a bit mad at Alex for how he was handling it, but I forgave him in the end. My only other issue was that I wish we could have had more resolution between Jamie and his family. I would have liked to have known more about that part of his life and how it resolved. I enjoyed the brief glimpses of the other Masters and their submissives from the prior books. Even though I couldn't get into the sexy times in this book, the romance itself still came through for me crystal clear, and that is due fully to the talents of the author. I truly enjoy Laura Kaye's voice, and her style, and her world building. She makes you really care for her characters, and because of that, I'll always read anything she writes. There will only be one more book in this series, and I'll be sad to see it go.

This is my first book by Laura Kaye. This book shows that at any age you can find your true self. What you suppress always ends up coming out somehow. The thing you would never have ended up being something you crave. A craving can lead you to a love you never would’ve found before. Jamie and Alex are two people that you never would put together, but like anything, fate always has other plans. I enjoyed the writing style of Laura Kaye. I would’ve liked this to be a bit longer – maybe some steamier scenes, but overall I would recommend it. I will be going back to read the other books in this series.

4.5 stars--impassioned and decadent 4.5 stars-- ON HIS KNEES is the fourth instalment in Laura Kaye’s contemporary, adult BLASPHEMY erotic, BDSM, romance series focusing on the twelve Masters who own, work and play at the BDSM club Blasphemy. This is forty-year old psychiatrist and Master Alex McGarry, and thirty-year old attorney/submissive Jamie Fielding’s story line. ON HIS KNEES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. There is a slight cross-over with the authors HARD INK series with the cameo appearances of tattoo artist Jeremy Rixey and his fiancé Charlie Merritt. NOTE: ON HIS KNEES is a M/M story line with sexually graphic language and text including strikingly detailed, sadistic and masochistic sexual scenarios that may not be suited for all readers. Told from dual third person points of view (Jamie and Alex) ON HIS KNEES follows the building relationship between Blasphemy Master Alex McGarry, and submissive Jamie Fielding. Jamie continues to struggle to find that special someone in his life but it is not until his most recent tattoo session that a light-bulb moment blew up his mind. Perhaps Jamie’s interests lie elsewhere with the realization that pain and humiliation are what it takes for our hero to get excited both in and out of the bedroom. With a recommendation by tattoo artist Jeremy Rixey, Jamie ventures into REVIEW the world of BDSM and Club Blasphemy-a world he previously knew nothing about. Enter Master Alex McGarry, a stubborn, strong but independent man looking for someone as well. What ensues is the building relationship between Alex and Jamie, and the fall-out when Jamie is unable to accept all that he is and has become. The D/s relationship between Jamie and Alex is quick to develop. From thinking himself a heterosexual male to becoming a masochistic, sexually fluid (aka bi-sexual) submissive took but a matter of hours, and in this I struggled with Jamie’s rapid acceptance of the lifestyle and relationship in which he was about to enter. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense; the S/M scenes are graphic, detailed and carnal. Jamie’s need to submit is heart breaking and sad. I commend the author on the strength of the writing as it pertains to Jamie’s needs and wants. ON HIS KNEES is an impassioned and decadent story line of self-discovery. The premise is palpable; the characters are energetic and fierce; the romance is intimate and edgy. ON HIS KNEES is an enthusiastic tale about trust and acceptance, and two people who found what they had been missing.

Amazing, just amazing! If you are not curious or comfortable with the idea of sado-masochism, of non-consensual role play, then ON HIS KNEES is not a book for you, so please move on. Or dare to take a walk on the wild side, live dangerously even if vicariously, expand your horizons, take a chance on an extraordinary book… Master Alex McGarry, at almost forty, would love to settle down but his latest encounters have him wondering if the BDSM life has lost its spark. Alex wants to settle down, but because of his sexual proclivities, he wonders if he will ever find that special someone. Jamie Fielding had been dating a woman for two months, and again another attempt at a relationship fizzles. Sometimes Jamie has a problem performing, and he worries about images he needs to generate to be able to achieve some semblance of sexual fulfillment. To try to feel better, Jamie goes to Hard Ink Tattoo to get some more ink – but mostly to feel some of that wonderful pain that getting tattooed brings. That’s when Jeremy Rixey, the tattoo artist, tells Jamie that Jamie might have some masochistic tendencies and Jeremy can put in a word for him at Blasphemy, the exclusive BSDM club. At first, Jamie is nonplussed, but after doing some research, he comes to the conclusion that he needs to at least have a look… Man, this is HOT! Laura Kaye outdid herself once more with this amazing story. I loved how Jamie analysed this situation coolly and rationally, re-evaluating his sexuality, his tastes; his road to self-discovery was riveting. How Alex and Jamie met was brilliant; it was so simple and yet electrifying. I was completely mesmerised by Alex and Jamie, separately and together, and Laura Kaye did the impossible because ON HIS KNEES is possibly her best book ever, my favourite book in the Blasphemy series, and definitely the best erotic romance I have ever read. This is not “cute” S&M, this is the real thing, with people who need it, who breathe it, who live it. The sex is scorching hot, the chemistry blistering; it is powerful, intense, raw, and gut-wrenching. The “mistake” almost took my breath away, and how it was resolved was astoundingly realistic and touching. Now, for the “trifles”: my favourite book boyfriend ever, Jeremy Rixey, is in there! I wish the epilogue had been longer, because wow; I gobbled ON HIS KNEES as if my life depended on it, and I wanted more, more, more. I would like to see Mistress Dyann, I can’t wait for Master Leo, I can’t wait for Laura Kaye’s next book. Oh my God, this was an awesome read! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I haven’t read many BDSM stories where the characters’ kink and sexual lifestyle focuses on sadism and/or masochism, so in a way, as Jamie Fielding was being introduced to the fetish community of Blasphemy, particularly those Masters who get off on their submissives’ pain and how much they can make ‘it hurt so good’ for the subs in their care,’ Master Alex’s teachings also opened my eyes to the sexual gratification that can be found in physical pain and degradation, and while I can say I am wholeheartedly not a sadist or a masochist, Alex and Jamie’s story not only educated me about an aspect of BDSM that I didn’t have much insight in, but it also illustrated how discovering what a person wants and needs as well as finding where he belongs is worth all of the past disconnects and broken relationships experienced. Blasphemy is quite the sexual playground, and what I love most about Laura Kaye’s series is that she presents all different types of kink that occurs in the club and what the people involved in those varying sexual lifestyles find necessary and freeing about them. And while my knowledge of BDSM is based on fictional stories and characters, it’s clear that this world of non-vanilla sex allows people to feel liberated and at home in their own body because the various types of kink allow them the release and the connection that they can only find when they are with like-minded sexual beings.    The BDSM’s lifestyle carters to those who desire to move beyond vanilla sex and find their sexual niche, for lack of a better term, and in On His Knees, Jamie and Alex’s story teaches readers and the characters themselves that no one’s judgment or negative reactions should deter people from accepting who they are and what they need and based on how Jamie reacts to the sexual journey that Master Alex takes him on as well as the ideas Jamie discovers about himself just by being in an environment that fits every part of him, there is no denying how essential and life-changing Alex and Jamie’s connection is for both of them, and when it comes down to it, a person’s life is his own and the path he travels is up to his wants and his needs, NOONE ELSE should matter. I can’t review On His Knees without mentioning how wrecked the last part of the book had me…I don’t want to spoil anything for readers but I don’t think I’ve ever cried as hard as I did when Jamie lays himself bare and kneels for his Master in a show of contrition. Jamie’s actions/words really did a number on my heart because Laura Kaye captured the emotional upheaval Jamie was experiencing and the steps he took to make things right in such a way that I could feel Jamie’s anguish and devastation and I wanted and needed him to be healed, in a way, that would never bring him that kind of pain again. 4.5 Poison Apples    (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)
