Seen from space, our planet looks blue. This is because almost 70 percent of Earth's surface is covered with water. Earth is the only planet with liquid water — and therefore the only planet that can support life.

All water is connected. Every raindrop, lake, underground river and glacier is part of a single global well.

Water has the power to change everything — a single splash can sprout a seed, quench a thirst, provide a habitat, generate energy and sustain life. How we treat the water in the well will affect every species on the planet, now and for years to come. One Well shows how every one of us has the power to conserve and protect our global well.

One Well is part of CitizenKid: A collection of books that inform children about the world and inspire them to be better global citizens.

The book One Well talks about how all the water in the world is connected. I loved this book and would love to use it one of my classes. The illustrations in the book are also really good. The author gives specific percentages without being over powering. The book is very Eco-friendly and talks about recycling the water and how fresh water is moved. I like how the book is put together. I could see and recommend its use in a 5-9 class room depending on what¿s being taught.

This is a poetic, thorough overview of the importance of water on our planet. This book centers on the idea that all usuable water on our planet comes from one "well" that we must all share. There is a lot of information on water scarcity and pollution. I presented this analogy to my kindergarten science students and it was easily understandable to them. Unfortunately, the language was a bit too sophisticated and dense, so I ended up rephrasing a lot of it. The text would be great for grade 3 and up, though.

All of the earth's water makes up the one well that we all share. Plants and animals, including humans, all depend on this well. Did you know that there is ten times the water in our atmosphere than in our rivers? This and many other facts are presented along with brightly color illustrations. Additional information includes "Becoming Well Aware," Notes to Parents, Guardians, and Teachers," and an index.

I have been fortunate enough to see an advanced copy of this book and let me tell you, it is amazing. One Well: the Story of Water on Earth is a highly relevant and important book about water and water conservation. More importantly, it is well written, informative and empowering - for young and old alike. But don't listen to is what Jean-Michel Cousteau, Founder and President Ocean Futures Society, Inc., had to say about it...'One Well is much needed drink for those of us thirsting to help protect our Planet's threatened water supplies. Appropriate for children of all ages, this richly illustrated book provides valuable perspectives on the sources of water, value to all living things, present threats and constructive suggestions for water conservation. Bravo to Ms. Strauss and Woods for a valuable contribution to a subject vital to us all.'
