About the Author

Jewel is a free-spirited romance junkie with a quirky sense of humor.

With 10 years of flossing lectures under her belt, she took early retirement from her dental hygiene career to stay home with her three awesome boys and manage the family business.

After her best friend of nearly 30 years suggested a few books from the Contemporary Romance genre, Jewel was hooked. Devouring two and three books a week but still craving more, she decided to practice sustainable reading, AKA writing.

When she’s not donning her cape and saving the planet one tree at a time, she enjoys yoga with friends, good food with family, rock climbing with her kids, watching How I Met Your Mother reruns, and of course…heart-wrenching, tear-jerking, panty-scorching novels.

Upon finishing, my initial reaction: Oh the feels... THE FEELS... Seriously, this book is just too much. I want to read it again already. My Thoughts (full review): I went into this one extremely intrigued. I mean, look at that synopsis! There's so much going on and you just know it's going to be interesting--what's going to happen between Patrick and Darby? What happened to Patrick to cause him to lose his memory? By the time I reached the end, I was flabbergasted... in the best way possible. Patrick, or Trick, meets Darby when he comes in to the ER for stitches. She's overwhelmed by him, but she tries to hold herself together. When they meet up again (and again), somehow a friendly bond forms. She thinks he's gay, but she's falling for him despite that knowledge. It doesn't take long for those feelings to threaten their friendship...and lead to a spontaneous kiss after the confession of them to him. Pretty soon their lives are wrapped up in each other, only things aren't as they seem. Trick still has very little knowledge of his past, and worries that everything blossoming with Darby is going to fall apart at any moment. Only Trick had me by the heartstrings all the way. I was captivated, and my emotions were so invested in them that by the end, I was nearly a blubbery mess of feels. I was anxiously flipping pages to see what would happen next, where the latest bit of information would lead them to. My absolute favorite part of this story was the relationship between Trick and Darby. She would text message him, asking him to be her BFF for a moment so she could talk about her feelings about him with him. Even when things got tough, they pulled through. I loved seeing things tie together while winding their way through the whole story, piecing what was broken back together again. It was just so beautiful. Jewel E. Ann--keep...them...coming. Please. My Rating: Exceptional

Only Trick, Jewel E. Ann Genre:  Erotic, Romance, Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Well, I looked forward to this but though the sex scenes were hot and well written, it was let down for me by Darby and Trick....Darby worked part time in a busy A&E dept. and seemed like a decent person – very close to her nana, but not to her father. Her mum died at her birth and he’s been a cold closed person, really only concerned with image and his career – he’s currently married to a rich, younger lady but to Darby’s disgust he cheats on her constantly with a stream of bimbos. Darby has her own apartment her nana bought her and they see each other frequently. ( loved her nan BTW) All seems well until she comes across Trick – sex god on legs. She’s told he’s gay but she’s attracted to him very much so even though she thinks he’s gay, has met and really likes his partner Grady, she sets out to get him. She becomes a stalker almost, and that’s where I really disliked her. She berates her father for having affairs and yet she’s prepared to break up what she thinks is a happy relationship just because she wants Trick, even though he’s made it very, very clear he’s not interested. I can’t understand people who can do that, deliberately set out to destroy something for their own selfish reasons. Trick, well he owes much to Grady, and is happy to go along with him in letting others assume they are together – it gives Grady some freedom to play away, and it keeps ladies from being offended when he turns down their approaches, important for his career.  He doesn’t want anything to do with females, still carrying grief from his memory loss, and doesn’t want to have a relationship. He can see through Darby, and to begin he’s a real jerk, a complete ars ehole to her...but given she won’t take a hint I can’t blame him. Never the less he is attracted, and she wears him down. She still thinks he’s gay, and when they sleep together ( just sleep as BFF) she never gives a thought to how Grady would feel about it, even though she’s met him and really likes him. See? Miss Selfish all the way... Of course things change, they both learn more about each other, and their relationship quickly heats up leading to the hot and sensual sex scenes. Still, a couple of things kept creeping in and annoying me. It seems lately all Romance Alpha males have to have a tell, and Tricks is his lip curl – and the Come command. Ok on first, second, even third reading, but once I’d read it more than half a dozen times in a short space it just annoyed me...his Come command made him sound like he was calling his dog, and the lip curl began to feel as though he’d got a facial tic or something...not the way I think I'm meant to feel. Sometimes Less is More. Anyway its a hot read, and if you can get past Darby’s selfishness then its a decent read. Not the special one I was hoping though, I kind of worked out what was going to happen, and what had in his past, though not exactly of course, and its a one off read for me.   Stars:  Three, sexy and sensual but Darby’s willingness to put herself first was too much for me.  ARC provided by Netgalley and publishers

"Come." An Amazing 5 Star Read, worthy of your time This is my first book I have read by Jewel E. Ann but it certainly won't be my last. For the most part I am fairly generous with my ratings but there are some books truly worthy of a "beyond 5 star rating" and this is one of them. For those who love books told from the male POV, the blurb will likely grab you and take hold. In earnest though, only a few chapters are told from Trick's POV, but they are perfect. Most of the story is told from Darby's POV and as she is such a likable character, I think this works out perfectly. Darby is on paper, the girl who had it all. In reality, her life has been one bad experience or relationship after another. She has had guys in her life but she never had real love, she never even had a good friend. She meets an exotic and unbelievably gorgeous guy, Trick, while working in the ER. She is totally stunned when she meets him yet again when she needs to have her make up done for another of her father's political parties. What she never expects is for the two of them to become great friends, after all, that is all she can hope for since he is gay. Trick has had what some might seem a very rough/difficult like. Losing his parents during his formidable years he winds up leading of life filled with what he assumes was sex and drugs, the problem is he really doesn't know. His life is turned around by two who become like family to him, Grady and Tamsen. Trick isn't sure how the feisty red head gets under his skin, but soon he realizes that Darby is starting to not only be in his life, but becomes his life. The relationship between Trick and Darby is brought to life in the best way possible through Ann's writing. I loved that this couple gradual comes in to their feelings for each other. It makes their love seem so much stronger and so more real. Trick is a hero that will capture your heart. At times he had me wanting to smack him upside the head but he always made up for mistakes with actions or words that will make you melt every time. Nearing the 80 percent mark Trick had me reeling and I had a feeling things were gonna get bad. I just had no idea to what extent Ann was going to gut me while reading. Yet it was in those moments that the extent of Trick and Darby's love is truly revealed and all the emotions are palpable.  The surrounding cast of characters are just as wonderful as Trick and Darby. Grady, Tamsen and Nana are the best and their love for this couple comes through just as clear even during the tough times. Despite some questions I have about why certain aspects of Trick's memory are intact verses other really didn't detract from the story, at least for me, likely because I just couldn't wait to see what was going to be revealed and what was going to happen. As mentioned before, Trick's POV is limited in the story but honestly the Epilogue, which is in his POV, is beyond amazing and was a wonderful way to finish this story. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars-dare you not to cry: 4.5 stars--ONLY TRICK is the latest stand alone, adult, contemporary storyline from author Jewel E Ann focusing on physician’s assistant Darby Carmichael and makeup artist Patrick ‘Trick’ Roth. Told from two first person points of view (Darby and Trick) the storyline centers on the building relationship between Darby and Trick- a friends to lovers storyline that finds Darby falling in love with her ‘gay’ best friend only to discover that her ‘gay’ best friend has fallen in love with her. Trick is a man without a past; without a family; without the memory of five missing years. At fifteen, Trick’s parents disappeared, leaving the young man homeless and alone but an accident will find Trick without important memories where five years of his life have disappeared. Throughout the storyline events and memories will be triggered as his love for Darby Carmichael grows. Darby is a woman whose own family history is riddled with death and disillusion; and a father who despises the very ground upon which our heroine walks. The colorful, engaging and emotion driven secondary and supporting characters include Trick’s roommate Grady Cross, and Grady’s sister Tamsen, as well as Darby’s all seeing ’Nana’ Grace McDermot, and fellow co-workers at the hospital. Darby will be introduced to Trick through Gemmie, who is a whirlwind of information. Jewel E Ann pulls the reader into an emotional storyline of an all-consuming love between two people whose family lives are dysfunctional and broken. This is NOT a M/M storyline but a story about a boy and girl, who have found one another against the odds, and the odds are definitely not stacked in their favor. Trick’s past will eventually catch up and everything about their lives will be destroyed when the truth is revealed. I dare you not to cry ! The $ex scenes are provocative, intense and seductive without the overwhelming erotic factor.
