Dr. Gary Josephson received his bachelor’s degree with honors from the State Universityof New York (SUNY) at Albany and his MD degree at SUNY Downstate Medical College with Distinction in Research. He completed an otolaryngology—head and neck surgery residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where he was honored with the Resident Teaching Award and Turner Award for excellence in otolaryngology. During this time, he was the medical correspondent for a local newspaper in Manhattan. His column included health and wellness tips and facts to improve well-being. Dr. Josephson also completed a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at the Universityof Virginia, as well as an MBA from the Universityof Massachusetts, Amherst.
Dr. Josephson is the Chief Medical Officer at Nemours Children’s Health—Jacksonville. He holds academic rank of Professor at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and the Universityof South Florida College of Medicine. He has been named in “Jacksonville’s Best Surgeons in the City” and listed in “Castle Connelly” and “Best Doctors in America” Dr. Josephson has numerous peer-reviewed publications in the medical literature in addition to a medical text he edited titled “Complications in Pediatric Otolaryngology”.
In 2015, Dr. Josephson was honored by his undergraduate alma mater and was the commencement keynote speaker for the graduating class of the College of Biological Sciences. His address shared his seven life principles and how they pave a road to success. On a personal note, Dr. Josephson enjoys nature, outdoor activities, and staying physically fit. His greatest passion is spending time with his wife, Patricia, a Jacksonville pediatrician, and their two children, Samantha and Grayson.
