I'm a 5th grade classroom volunteer and I purchased the book as a resource for the students to use in the preparation for their state reports. Children were teamed up in pairs and assigned a state. Resources at the school are very limited and dated so I felt that this book would be more interesting for the children to read while doing their assigned reseach for their particular state. I found the information not only interesting but in a eye catching format not to mention the illustrations were very kid friendly. I would highly recommend this book for any 5th grade classroom library.

Kids, read and remember this book and forget all of those bad things about the U.S. you keep seeing on the news. This book is about our nation, our good nation!

I bought this book for my 6 year old daughter, and she loves it. She cannot put it down at night. There are so many interesting facts about the 50 states.

This is a great introduction to the delightful diversity among our states and their interdependence. It is an opportunity to visit each state in one's mind and appreciate each in relation to the whole. Adults could learn something from this book as well.

I bought this for my oldest grandson but couldn't resist looking through it. It is just loaded with bits of trivia and historical data in a fun-to-read format. For example, the page for Alabama mentions Paul Bear Bryant, the popular former University of Alabama football coach and it brings up the big football rivalry between Auburn and University of Alabama. Each state's page has dozens of pieces of history/info that you probably wouldn't find anywhere else. This is a book that would appeal to both young and old.

I picked up this book for a 5th grade teacher friend (because she teaches about the 50 states in her curriculum) but I may keep it! WOW! This is the best book of its kind I've seen because it jams in so much information while making it fun to learn about our country with illustrations that are playful, offering lots of little surprises. This book brings to mind the idea that 'it's not about the destination, but rather about the journey.'
