Down and out with an injury keeping him away from the game, Assassins' defenseman Jordie Thomas lives for the blades of his skates on the ice and the feeling of oblivion off it. With no choice but to heal, he's forced away from the sport that runs through his veins. With everything at stake and darkness setting in, he quickly finds himself spiraling even further out of control. As his life begins to come crashing down around him and his contract with the Nashville Assassins on the line, he's given an ultimatum. Ready or not, Jordie is forced to face his past, the fears that consume him, and the one woman he let walk away.

Kacey King had her professional dreams come true, yet her heart was battered and broken. With an Olympic gold medal around her neck, she's ready to look forward to the future but without the one man she wanted in it. She's missing the key pieces of her heart she left months ago with the only person who was capable of destroying it, causing her to falter in all her plans to move on.

In the game of life, there are winners and losers, and neither Jordie nor Kacey want to be on the losing bench. If only Jordie could convince Kacey he's a changed man and that he wants her right by his side as his MVP for the biggest and best parts of a life they build together. With emotions running high and the game on the line, can two proud people find happiness with each other, or will their hearts and souls be left in the cold? Will they see that sometimes having someone by your side who knows the good, bad, and broken is better than going it alone and losing everything through the back of the net? They are out of time on the game clock and fighting for the win of their lives.

But overtime was made for an Assassin like Jordie.

I really enjoyed the other stories in this series, but this story was disappointing. Grammatical errors and misspelling made it worse.

I love all of The Assassins books, but I think whoever edited this one needs to be fired! Such strong potential in a storyline, ruined by poor editing! This was definitely a difficult book to read!

I'm only half way but the amount of spelling and grammatical errors is so distracting. I usually love this author but disappointed.

Once again, another great book in this series. However, the amount of spelling errrors takes away from the story - they take away from the fluidity of reading the story.

I was so looking forward to Jordie and Kasey's story. The spelling, usage and choppiness made this book difficult to read. The ending was fine but there was none of Toni's usual comments at the end or even a listing of previous/upcoming books. Hope someone in editing is fired for such a disaster.

Oh, Jordie, Jordie, Jordie! *dreamy sigh!* Sorry, Jordie's pretty irresistible so I just had to take a moment to swoon over him for a bit. ;) I've been smitten with Toni Aleo's Assassins series since book 1, and with Overtime being the 7th full-length book in the series, my love hasn't diminished at all...instead it's grown, and grown..and grown!!! I especially love getting to see my favourite characters in each book as new characters have their stories told!! I really just love seeing them all get their happy stories!!! I won't say endings though because I'm always happy to see more of them in future books! ;D If you can't already tell, I absolutely LOVED Overtime! I loved that Jordie and Kacey have a history, and that their relationship is so complex, but most of all, I loved how passionate they were about each other. I loved how when it really mattered, their love for each other made them stronger and helped them push themselves to be better people! :D I also loved how passionate they were on their own. None of the other Assassin leading ladies have been big hockey players themselves, but it was pretty neat to see Kacey being just as extreme into hockey as Jordie was. :) Jordie is probably the darkest main character out of all of the Assassins players yet. He has a troubled past, and he faces a lot of challenges in Overtime. I was frustrated with him for pushing Kacey away, just like she was, but I was also so proud of him for getting better. I loved seeing him face his past, his problems, and his issues head on. He really shaped up in and made changes in his life to be a better man, and it was wonderful to see. While Kacey didn't have to overcome nearly as many obstacles as Jordie did, she did have to overcome her insecurities and learn to communicate, especially when her pride got in the way. Once Jordie and Kacey finally started talking and working together it was so awesome to see their relationship bloom! Overall, I loved Overtime! It was sexy, full of wonderful banter and teasing, and it was an absolute pleasure to read. When Kacey and Jordie reunite, they do it right, and you don't want to stop reading for a minute! I'd recommend Overtime, and the Assassins series to sports romance fans, but also to fans of romances that are complex, real, and take a little bit of work. Jordie and Kacey definitely aren't perfect, but they make they work together to keep their relationship strong, and they themselves become stronger because of it. If you haven't started this series yet, you really should, it's definitely one of my favourites! :D **I received a copy of Overtime to participate in the blog tour, all opinions are my own. **This review also appears on my blog, Burning Impossibly Bright, and on my Goodreads account.

First of all if you haven't reloaded your book you should. I imagine anyone watching me read this book probably thought I was a crazy lady. I was literally laughing one minute and then crying the next. This book literally shreds your heart but then starts to repair it, and then rips it apart again. It's a vicious cycle. I loved this book, everyone has a little crazy in them right? You can feel the love that Jordie and Kacey have, the struggle that Jordie has with his alcoholism, you just have so many emotions going all over the place reading this book. It's crazy, I'm telling you! Everyone should have parents like Kacey and Karson, what a truly amazing couple. Jazz hands!!! Whenever I see the words Jazz Hands, I'm going to think of this book. No matter how many books I read, I'll remember this one! Do guys really talk about pinterest? Too funny!!! I absolutely loved this book! Love this series (yes, you get to see some of the other guys)! Not disappointed one little bit with this book!!! Go forth and buy this one!!!

Another Assassins winner by Toni Aleo...Overtime is a great story about overcoming one's demons and heartbreak. For some reason I feel this book has somewhat of a darker tone than the previous books in the series. Still a phenomenal read though. Would have given it 5 stars except there seemed to be more typos, grammatical errors and incorrect word usage than normally found in Toni Aleo books!

3.75 stars--- OVERTIME is the seventh full length installment in Toni Aleo’s adult, contemporary ASSASSINS erotic, romance series focusing on the members of the professional hockey team the Nashville Assassins. This is Assassins’s defenseman Jordie Thomas, and Olympic Hockey champion Kacey King’s (Karson’s sister LACES AND LACE) story line-a second chance at love for two people destroyed by demons from the past. OVERTIME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. There is a prequel novella tobKacey and Jordie’s story-WANTING TO FORGET- but it is not necessary for the comprehension of OVERTIME. Told from dual third person perspectives (Jordie and Kacey) OVERTIME is the second chance at love for Kacey and Jordie. Following four months together wherein Kacey fell in love, Jordie walked away without a backwards glance. Fast forward to present day Jordie finds himself in a disciplinary hearing fighting for his career and his professional life. Too much partying, manwhoring and drinking, and a positive drug test he knows nothing about Jordie is given no option but to enter rehab or face down a trade to another team. What ensues are Jordie’s battle with temptation, and his recovery from an injury that almost ended his career. Jordie’s return to civilian life finds our hero facing the biggest challenge of his life-asking for forgiveness and a second chance from the person whose life he destroyed the most. OVERTIME looks at the destructive nature of addiction, and the precipitating factors that destroyed a young boy’s life when his mother all but kicked him to the curb and denied any and all responsibility for the abuse and neglect inflicted upon the four year old boy. Jordie’s life is haunted by his mother’s rejection, and his inability to get passed what was and what will never be. Jordie’s relationship with Kacey finds our hero pushing away the woman that he loves fearing rejection once again. OVERTIME is the culmination of betrayal, heartbreak, rehabilitation and redemption for one man, and the woman that he has always loved. The secondary and supporting characters include Kacey’s brother Karson, and his wife Lacey; Kacey and Karson’s parents, as well as some of the members of the Assassin’s hockey team, their owner Elli Adler and her player/husband Shea. Kacey’s parent see more than anyone thought possible, and it is great to see a set of parents who support their children, and tell it like it is. OVERTIME is an emotional story line with a broken hero; a heroine who loves a man that destroyed her heart; and a couple whose lives are pushed to the limits when the past comes back looking for something more. The premise is a bit of a slow build as Jordie struggles with the past, and Kacey refuses to acknowledge his existence. The characters are colorful, charismatic and heartbreaking-once again, it took some time for Kacey to forgive Jordie’s betrayal, all the while condemning his actions at every opportunity; Kacey’s anger knew no boundaries; her heartbreak was palpable. The romance is a second chance story of forgiveness; and looking forward to so much more.

I am so disappointed in this book. I skipped most of the dialog because it was so boring. I didn't like Kacey or her family at all. They acted like a bunch of juveniles being rude and talking about having sex. I am a big fan of the series but this book was horrible.

This book really hit me. I loved Jordie and Kacey and the fact their struggles were real and we got to read through it all like we were there. This book is an amazing read that will stick with me years to come and I will be reading over and over again. Its a great story where the struggles dont just magically disappear after a week of recovery but are actually a huge part of the story and you can feel Jordie growing to be better. Thank you for writing this book.

As an English teacher, I also sometimes get caught up editing errors. But can I just say...f* the spelling., this was a powerful and uplifting story! I loved all of the characters in all the books in this series, but Jordie and Kacey have stolen my heart. Great job Ms.Aleo.

We're there some spelling errors? Sure. But whatever, this story was absolutely beautiful and inspiring on so many levels. I loved every book in this series. Blue Lines was my favorite and thought it couldn't be topped but it has. If you have ever known anyone or you, yourself have fallen prey to addiction this story will touch your heart. Excellent job Toni Aleo. This book will always hold a place in my heart so thank you!!

Overtime was both painful and beautiful. What Jordie went through and survived, and yet still hit rock bottom, only to claw his way back up is amazing. This could be a story of your brother, father, friend, or spouse. Toni Aleo wrote her heart out on these pages and you feel every ounce of pain and guilt, success and failure, fear and hope and joy. Beautiful story.

As always, Toni does a great job with a very personal story. Though you don't really know it until you get to the very end and realize what the story was truly about. Which as much as I love Jordie, I loved her personal note at the end of the book. I have a very real connection to the tale because the man I grew up knowing as my brother, was really my biological father...long story, was an alcoholic. And alcoholism runs in our blood. His father was an alcoholic as well and one of my sisters had issues with alcohol. Thankfully she cleaned herself up and got herself on the right track. Not too long before Jim died, I finally let him know I had issues with his drinking and doing drugs...and he quit. cold turkey. Because I had an issue with it. We never got to talk about him being my biological father before he died, but he listened when he found out I had an issue with him drinking. I was lucky that he was willing to clean himself up for me. Some people can never make it to that point to where they find someone they love enough to do the right thing and clean up their act. And Jordie had a good way of looking at it that he had to do it for himself to make himself enough for the people he loved. So while he did it because he loved someone...in the end it was because he needed to love himself more to love others better. Some of the bits in the later chapters I had some issues with because it didn't seem as....I don't know...like it was hard enough for him. He didn't hit too many speed bumps outside of his mother..and Natasha at the end...Which I Totally saw coming. She disappeared early on in the story that you KNEW there was going to be trouble later! So it seemed a bit rushed at the end. Other than that...I loved the story though. great writing even with the issues with the Nook that happened. Crazy stuff! So not her fault!! I can't say how much I love Karl though. Truthfully, I wish there was a book just for Karl and Regina. Karl is such a foul mouth that loves so completely that it is amazing. I do love foul mouthed characters :) Toni, you pull me in with all of your characters and your stories. You are one of my favourite authors. You are such a down to earth person and you put yourself in every story and every feeling in your books. Thank you for sharing your talents and stories and families and faults with all of us. You are truly spectacular!!!
