In Donlay’s uneven sixth Donovan Nash novel (after 2015’s Aftershock), the Defense Intelligence Agency, which employs Nash’s wife, Lauren, sends her on a secret mission to Slovakia to extract an old flame of hers, Daniel Pope, who apparently has been blackmailed into designing a stealth jet capable of delivering a nuclear weapon. When the plane Lauren is aboard crashes somewhere in Eastern Europe, she survives only to find herself a target of the very people who want to use Daniel’s invention to commit a terrorist act. Donlay checks all the boxes of the genre: strong male lead (with an unlimited bank account, no less), capable friends with appropriate skills, and a lightning-fast pace. However, most of the characters are right out of central casting, and the excessive exposition can be jarring. Even so, Lauren is a standout, and she gives Nash a run for his money in smarts and determination; though Nash may be coming to her rescue, she doesn’t need him to. Agent: Kimberley Cameron, Kimberley Cameron Associates. (Mar.)

"On par with the best in suspense writing, the story plays out like an edge-of-your-seat movie, complete with danger, explosions, intrigue, betrayal and redemption. The extensive descriptions of aircraft jargon and technology bring a realistic dimension but may slow the story down for some readers. Even so, for anyone who loves action, intrigue and adventure, this one is an absolute must!"InD'tale

“Philip Donlay’snewthriller,Zero Separation, is a timely and terrifying roller-coaster ride depicting the realities of the post-9/11 world.”
Sheldon Siegel, New York Times best-selling authorof The Confession
"Donlay’s writing is crisp and direct. Every sentence serves its purpose, propelling the plot forward while aptly sharing relevant points from previous Nash adventures. The point-of-view characters offer unique perspectives, which combined make for well-developed one-two narrative punch. Furthermore, Donlay writes sharp, natural dialogue. While it’s peppered with jargon, the dialogue is neither burdensome nor difficult to grasp. Donlay, a pilot himself, layers context to clarify what might otherwise be arduous language.
Fans who love espionage, action, or thrillers will find great entertainment in this book. Being familiar with previous Donovan Nash novels is not a requirement for enjoying Pegasus Down. Donlay weaves important aspects of previous adventures into this tale, helping it stand alone within the Donovan Nash series.”
