Pelly the Pitching Pelican: Join Pelly on his journey to the shores of South Carolina as he chases his dream.
As we all know, pelicans love to play baseball. This is a true story, as Papa Billy, a baseball-playing, story-telling penguin leads us to believe. Every Sunday is Family Day at Papa Billy's house. After dinner, and before dessert, he would always tell his grandchildren a story. When he would share a baseball story, the entire penguin family would gather around him.
He tells the story about Pelly, a pelican who was a great baseball player. Pelly's dream was to play for the Palmetto Pelicans. A Palmetto is a tree. The Palmetto tree is the state symbol for South Carolina.
One day, Pelly decided to make his dream a reality. He packed his things and flew off to South Carolina to show all of those Pelicans how the game of baseball is really played.
This is a very humorous story with characters inspired by Thomas Holloway. If you enjoy baseball or just reading a funny story with great illustrations, this book is for you.
This book is produced using a large font, so a grandparent does not need to wear those annoying reading glasses when reading to their grandchildren.

About the Author

‘Pelly The Pitching Pelican’ is my fifth story. My other books include ‘Why Is That Penguin Wearing Glasses’, ‘Dad I Want A Pet’, ‘Fred The Snail’ and ‘Three Weeks in Women’s Shoes’.
I played baseball for many years. A penguin telling a story about a pelican who plays baseball might seem far-fetched, but I tried to keep it as realistic as possible. The age demos for this story are the 5 to 9 and 50 to 90 age groups. It’s funny how life works that way.
I am especially pleased with this book because the characters are the inspiration of my Grandson, Thomas Holloway, and it was illustrated by my very good friend, Hope Richardson Fahey. This is the third book she has illustrated for me. She is incredibly talented. I’m sure you will love the color and quality, not to mention the humor of each illustration.
I hope the story and illustrations bring a smile to your face. Enjoy!

Illustrator
I am again honored to have been asked by the Author to illustrate this book and another endearing story.
It has been a pleasure bringing the characters to life and becoming ‘attached’ to them. I’ve grown quite fond of ‘Pelly’ and his antics.
My three grandchildren have been an inspiration throughout, and I appreciate each of them critiquing my drawings on a ‘child’s level, and with honest opinions. Therefore, I would like to dedicate my artwork endeavor in this adorable story to Brianna, C.J., and Landen Fahey for their keen eyes, insight, and willingness to give ‘Granny Hope’ their honest opinion.
May each of you reading this story, young and old, embark upon your talents and dreams to pursue the ambitions you once hoped for, but tucked away. Please know, as I have learned, it’s never too late. You can achieve a dream.
