The Mysteries of Paris Vols.1-3 the illustrations are lovely, the notes and table of contents are very helpful. For lovers of old classics a great read, recommend.
I adore this remastering of Penny Dreadfuls for Kindle. What a great idea. They're annotated. They're illustrated. Now people can read these today and experience the difference in culture and literacy between then and now. From my perspective, these are droll and enlightening glimpses into history. They're even more amusing now than they were when first published. Get them and read them them all!
Free! I got this for free! Absolutely wonderful - a bargain to be sure and yet another superb addition to the Penny dreadful series.
Well-presented compilation of a few of the old Penny Dreadfuls. I particularly liked the Jekyll and Hyde story; I remember scaring myself silly reading this as a kid. Great stuff.
“Penny Dreadful” is another wonderful book by Damian Stevenson. Just as the first two volumes in the series it is very well written and wonderfully presented to the reader. It is beautifully Illustrated with original art and links to free, full length audio recordings of “Jekyll and Hyde” and “Mysteries of Paris”. It also Includes original essay of “What is a Penny Dreadful?”I really enjoyed the book and I would gladly recommend it.
Penny Dreadful put together and executed well. Worth getting the collection.
This is volume number 3 in the series and the publisher has continued their supply of high quality and value for money collections of the old penny dreadfuls. A lot of thought has gone into it and, like the first two, it is professionally presented in a way that is better than many similar collections. This really is value for money and if you are a fan of the penny dreadfuls grab yourself a copy. While your at it, grab copies of the first two as well. Five stars.
