Physical Implementation of Quantum Walks
Given the extensive application of random walks in virtually every science related discipline, we may be at the threshold of yet another problem solving paradigm with the advent of quantum walks. Over the past decade, quantum walks have been explored for their non-intuitive dynamics, which may hold the key to radically new quantum algorithms. This growing interest has been paralleled by a flurry of research into how one can implement quantum walks in laboratories. This book presents numerous proposals as well as actual experiments for such a physical realization, underpinned by a wide range of quantum, classical and hybrid technologies.

Overview

Given the extensive application of random walks in virtually every science related discipline, we may be at the threshold of yet another problem solving paradigm with the advent of quantum walks. Over the past decade, quantum walks have been explored for their non-intuitive dynamics, which may hold the key to radically new quantum algorithms. This growing interest has been paralleled by a flurry of research into how one can implement quantum walks in laboratories. This book presents numerous proposals as well as actual experiments for such a physical realization, underpinned by a wide range of quantum, classical and hybrid technologies.

About the Author

Professor Jingbo Wang leads the Quantum Dynamics and Computation group at The University of Western Australia. Her research spans several distinct disciplines including quantum computation and information, atomic, molecular and chemical physics, nanostructured electronic devices, chaos and nonlinear dynamics, acoustics, as well as group and graph theory.

Dr. Kia Manouchehri has a Ph.D. in the general field of quantum information and computation from The University of Western Australia. Apart from his work on quantum walks and quantum algorithms, Kia has also taken active interest in other areas of research, ranging from computational analysis of nanostructures to the study of quantum neural networks.
