This is a simple story about Gerald the elephant thinking that he is allergic to pigs because he sneezes when near his friend, Piggie. When Doctor Cat enters the scene Gerald also sneezes, making him worry that he is allergic to cats too. Doctor Cat examines him and to the relief of Gerald, diagnoses him with a cold. Even though Gerald now knows he has a cold, he is ecstatic that he is not allergic to pigs or cats. This story has simple dialogue and speech bubbles as well as simple illustrations of only the characters throughout the story. Such simple illustrations focus the attention on the expressions of the characters. This is a great book for beginning readers. There is not much text on each page and it is a quick read, yet makes children feel like they have read a lot because it is a longer book. This book reminded my of "Books by Bob." I learned how to read from these books and they were simple like the "Elephant and Piggie" book.

Gerald the elephant and Piggie the pig, former winners of the Theodor Seuss Geisel Medal for outstanding early reader books, are back in this winning little story. When Gerald can't stop sneezing, he worries that he may be allergic to his best friend, he seeks out the help of Dr. Cat and learns that sometimes the easiest answer is the correct answer.Willems is masterful at combining negative space, with a muted pastel palette, leaving plenty of space for the word ballons that match the characters colors. This is a great introduction to reading for Kindergarteners who can handle the length and a great beginning reader book for First Graders who aren't ready for transitional chapter books.

"Gerald (the elephant) is careful. Piggie is not. Piggie cannot help smiling. Gerald can. Gerald worries so that Piggie does not have to. Gerald and Piggie are best friends. In Pigs Make Me Sneeze! Gerald believes that he is allergic to his best friend! Will he have to stay away from Piggie forever?"A funny book where Gerald as usual worries too much -- is he allergic to Piggie? (No, he just has a cold.)Great for ages 3 & older.

This book is one of my favorite children's books. It is humorous for readers of all ages, even adults. This story is filled with emotions which allows the reader to act out the story and use different dramatic techniques. Mo Willems does a great job creating a simple story that is so entertaining that it can be read multiple times without a problem. I have personally read this book at least five times and would love to read it again.

Another fun Mo Willems book. Delightfully simple and quick enough paced to keep up with the attention span of a toddler. And a fun little story the adult reader will get a chuckle out of as well.

In this elephant and piggie reader, Gerald is concerned that he is allergic to pigs. Gerald sneezes dramatically when Piggie is nearby and becomes convinced that he is allergic to Piggie. This upsets Gerald. Piggie is upset that Gerald is sneezing so loudly and the force from these sneezes knock Piggie over. In the pictures, Piggie finds a helmet to protect himself. Gerald leaves Piggie forever since Piggie makes him sneeze and goes to Doctor Cat. He continues to sneeze in the doctor's office and becomes concerned that he is also allergic to cats. Dr. Cat tells Gerald that he is neither allergic to pigs or cats, but rather has a cold. Gerlad is elated to have a cold, but Piggie is not so happy about it. this is a great simple story. The text is large matches the pictures and emotions perfectly. The illustrations are simple and expressive. A great reader by Mo Willems.

The book arrived with smeared mud or blood on the back of the book and looked like it slid across the warehouse floor. I contacted Barnes & Noble and they did not reply to resolve this issue. DIsappointed in the lack of response.

I got this book for my daughter to read to me from our public library. The book is cute and fun. My daughter loved it and wants more books from the series. Highly recommended.

Added this to my grand daughter's library at home. Loves to read and has been read to since birth. Now she reads to us. Often, we will re-read at the lunchtime table and discuss the book.

I love these easy readers! Unlike others on the market, these help to engage young readers and hold their attention - this was especially important for the student I tutored recently. The 1st grader I worked with was very picky about what she would read as far as an easy reader book. Not just any book would do - it had to have interesting characters and situations - Elephant and Piggie fit the bill every time! They're easy enough for beginning readers to read, but never bore their audience. It'll even keep the grown ups listening interested and give them some laughs too (which is a godsend in comparison to books like Biscuit). I can't wait to see more from this series!
