I've been wanting to read "PineLight" by Jillian Peery for quite some time now and when I saw it was only .99 cents for the Nook, I immediately purchased it and was excited to read it. Tragically, that would end up being the worst .99 cents I've ever spent. Never has a book confused me so much from beginning to end in a way that I can't even properly begin to explain the plot of the book. The entire time I was reading it I felt like the book was a mixture of five different stories rolled into one and horribly forced to try to work together to come up with a creative masterpiece not seen in other YA novels. It is quite obvious that Peery is very passionate about different topics, but I think she needed to hone those passions a little better and be more selective in which ones she wanted to bring to "PineLight." The protagonist, Clarabella, goes from being a regular teenager whose memory was erased to one dealing with vampires, angels, pirates, the devil, God, etc. I genuinely felt like every couple of chapters I was reading an entirely new book that made absolutely no sense. Peery was all over the place! There were also countless Biblical references throughout the novel that didn't mesh well with the plot and just came off as awkward more than anything. Especially at the end with her "climactic" battle where her faith was the answer all along. Also, the book is pegged as a love story, but not until the last few chapters does that really come into play. Even then, once we find out about the love story, it doesn't really have much of an affect on the reader and can easily be brushed off as another one of Peery's ramblings. Numerous characters were also introduced, but Peery did a terrible job of getting the reader to truly connect with them -- no real emotion was ever felt when something happened to them. I was left wanting to know more about everyone and how crucial they were to the plot. I personally didn't even like Clara all that much and found myself rooting against her. Also, it was a bit fishy to me that the protagonist was named Clarabella and one of her suitors Edmund -- hmm, ring a bell to anyone else? The entire flow of "PineLight" was awful and I never connected with the story. This was by far one of the most painful things I've ever had to read and am still confused as to what the heck I read. I have no plans to continue with Clara's story and would recommend others to do the same.

This book was not very well writen. The story was everywhere like she had a lot of different ideas to put in but made it a big mass of confused writing. I can usually get through bad writing but not this. She had a good plot line gloing but not good organization. She should make this either longer and put more detail in it or make different books with her ideas. When I was reading this, it felt as if I was reading several books at the same time whenever I took a break. Dont read this if you dont like jumbled writing because I sure dont.

This book was a whirl wind of action and romance. A true page-turner. Give this book toTwilight fans, HBOs True Blood enthusiasts, or anyone who just loves an epic story, and watch them eat it up! So looking forward to the sequel!

This is horrible spoiler alert!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!Wow!!!! So the story opens with Clarabella trying to escape someone before she loses her memories. She escapes and ends up living in mordern day Louisiana with her aunt. Her so called friend Erik, steals pages from her jornal and strange things start to happen around him. Her aunt is kidnaped by the crazie friend, she learns about vampires, and goes to Ireland. A lot of moving huh, lol. When she gets to Ireland, she goes chasing after a little girl and ends up ina forest. She is quickly captured by pirates and taken to a king, in lands she has never heard of. The king makes her see things that arent true and a knight from her past comes to her aid. She must discover her past and her true destiny.I was mind boggled that so much story fit into such a tiny book. This is very well written and even with all the crazy stuff in it, blends smoothly. I can not wait for the next one!

Very enticing! Pinelight was a very fast past action novel with mystery and spurts of romance. I rather enjoyed the fantasy world and the magical aspects of it. I just wanted to jump right in! I look forward to finding out more about the character's throughout the remainder of the series!

This was a really fun book to read. Very enticing and rich with vivid descriptions. I can't wait to see how the story progresses if there is more to come. Recommended for YA Paranormal fans.

The first 60 pages I just could not get into and was hard to follow, but once you got past the first half of the book it was much easier to follow. I actually began to get into the story and it turned out pretty good. I sure would have liked to see more of my questions answered though.
