About the Author

Ryan Davis (1983-ALIVE) grew up in Champaign, IL. He was an actor in school plays as a high school student and made a feature-length film with his friends his senior year. He studied at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where he received his B.A. in Mass Communication and Media Arts with a minor in Creative Writing. His senior thesis was a dramatic short film, which won him the award for "Best TV Drama" in his college. After graduating, he worked as a master control operator and director of news at an ABC-affiliate TV station in Peoria, IL. Still young and thirsting for adventure, he resigned from his position and moved to Japan in 2007 to live and teach English in public schools. He was in Japan during the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant meltdown. He currently lives in Tokyo as an English teacher and is a member of the Tokyo Writer's Workshop, a community of expat writers.
