Porcupine can't wait to share Fall Feast with her woodland friends, so when everyone she greets is unable to bake their specialty due to a missing ingredient, Porcupine generously offers staples from her pantry. When Porcupine discovers that she, too, is missing a key ingredient, the friends all work together to create a new Fall Feast tradition. Porcupine's Pie will inspire children ages 4-8 to act generously. A recipe for "friendship pie" can be found at the end of the book.

Delightful and non-traditional Thanksgiving story. Porcupine's generosity creates community in a way that ends up benefiting Porcupine, too. Clever structure. I happily turned back to look for clues I'd missed in the illustrations the first time around. A fun read that models resilience and friendliness.

Porcupine’s Pie is a yummy book about friendship! I fell in love with Porcupine’s Pie the minute I saw the illustrations and realized this book was going to be full of heart; and it did not disappoint! Generous Porcupine shares all the things her forest friends need to make a fabulous feast (such clever foreshadowing) only to discover that now she doesn’t have what she needs to make her special cranberry pie. In the end, it is her friends that save the day –such a heartwarming story about friendship, sharing and cooperation. This is a beautiful book to share and treasure - especially during Thanksgiving and all throughout the year!

This delightful story of generosity and friendship is perfect for any time of year! After reading it children will want to immediately read it again to see all the pages where Porcupine loses her cranberries. . . and then make a pie of their own! (Recipe included.)

Porcupine’s Pie is a heartwarming and adorable tale of friendship and reciprocation. Readers follow Porcupine as she selflessly offers other animals any extra ingredients that she has, and they, in turn, come to the rescue when she absently loses her ingredient, making for a satisfying full-circle ending. Endearing illustrations rendered in a muted, yet cheerful, autumn palette complements the text perfectly. There is enough quietness to make this a good pre-naptime book, yet the fun little adventure makes it also a good read for library story-time. A fun bonus is a delicious sounding pie recipe in the back matter.

Sharing and Friendship on Fall Feast Day Porcupine is excited about Fall Feast Day and ready to make her famous cranberry pie. The first step in the recipe is “Wash the berries.” Porcupine sets off for the river. On the way she meets her friends, squirrel, bear, and doe. They too are excited by Fall Feast Day, but each lacks an ingredient to prepare their special dish. Porcupine is a generous friend. She gives each animal the ingredient they need to make their treat. When she reaches the river she looks in her pail – no cranberries. Now she can’t make her special dish. What will she do? This is a delightful story of sharing and friendship; one young children will enjoy. The pictures are perfectly suited to the story. They make the fall theme come alive. One of the best parts is the inclusion of the Friendship Pie recipe. A great activity for you and your child. I received this book from PR by the Book.
