Praying in the Wesleyan Spirit is a re-presentation of 52 sermons by John Wesley in the form of modern prayers. These sermons are a rich source of spiritual insight and wisdom that need to be reclaimed today in a form both faithful to Wesley and accessible to modern readers. Paul Chilcote has achieved this combination. Scripture and a hymn text by Charles Wesley further enhance each devotion. These devotional materials paint a portrait of discipleship in which both head and heart are important, and when held together as Wesley intended, lead us to get our hands involved as well. The purpose of this volume is to encounter anew the rich treasury of the Wesley brothers’ Christian witness through praying it and then putting it into action.

A wonderful way to draw closer to God through the thoughts and prayers of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church. In addition it contains versus and poems penned by his brother Charles, who through his closeness with God wrote over 6000 versus and poems praising God. The versus included in this book are related to each of the prayers of his brother John.
