By far the worst book of the Cougar Falls series.   There is a huge difference between strong and confident alphas versus arrogant and selfabsorbed jerks.   Zoe and Miles are egotistical in the extreme.   There are whole paragraphs of them telling each other and everyone else how wonderful, good looking  and hot they are.  I really hated both of them.  I actually had to force myself to finish reading the book.  I'm not sure which was worse, Zoe thinking she could just walk in and take over as pride leader after being gone for twenty years.  Or Miles God's gift attitude.  Both were beyond annoying. The best thing I can say about the book is that Zoe and Miles deserve each other.  The constant appearances of Joy and Quince were the only highlights.  It's sad that such a good series ended with a poor story with irritating main characters.

I've been a fan of Ms. Harte's for some time now and I can say I am never disappointed in her books. The characters are always well developed, the imagery is always fantastic and the plots always have me reading till I finish the book. This newest installment in the Cougar Falls series is no different. Zoe is as alpha as they come ... but so is Miles. These two are the perfect foil for each other. Both are comfortable in their own skins and their arrogance is backed up by brains and caring. If you like shifter romance this series is definitely for you. And while it IS a series ... each book also stands perfectly well on it's own. However, I can promise if you read one you'll want to read the others.
