Three years have passed since Secret Agent Joe Stonehouse's beloved niece was killed in a school shooting. Since then, he has been dedicated to stopping that kind of random violence. His latest assignment has him masquerading as a guidance counselor and the uncle of a troubled youth, who is another agent, in a high school. His mission is complicated when he meets the principal, Suzanna Quinn, an attractive single mom to whom he finds himself drawn, despite the complications such a romance would create. On top of that, his "nephew" has definitely more than student teacher relations in mind when he sees Kelsey, one of his teachers. As the two couples dance along the fine line between business and pleasure, a plot to have another Columbine is forming in their school. Romance could compromise the whole mission, and love between any of them could endanger not only the mission, but their hearts and careers as well. ***** A timely, current novel that is easy to identify with due to the relevance contained herein, it is a welcome addition to the shelves. Ms. Shay should have broken into the full length novel genre long ago. Her talents are always finely displayed in the deep emotion her words evoke and her well thought out characters. These are all living breathing people you might meet anywhere at any time. The action and suspense balance well with the love, so that neither plot is skimped upon. I eagerly await her next release. ***** REVIEWER: Amanda Killgore

Katherine Shay has a new fan. I enjoyed her style of writing. She does not disappoint. This book was especially moving in light of the school tragedy in Sandy Hook, CT in Dec 2012. I was very impressed by the information provided.

Insightful Joe & Luke are both undercover agents for the secret service. They are going in bad uncle & nephew to figure out who is causing a possible threat in a high school. Suzanne us the school principal and won't know everything at first, Kelsey is a teacher and good friend of Suzanne's. Brenda is Suzanne's old college roommate, friend and a reporter. She can cause problems for all of them. Trying to find out who is doing what, helping the students and trying not to fall love. What a wonderful story of intrigue and info.

BORING! Timeline doesn't match with the O'Neil series and Luke's sister C.J. The Luke in this book was suppose to be a "legend" within the agency, not hardly. Did like Joe.

GJRA. I loved this book, hard to quit reading & sleep. I loved that Ms Shay can tell 2 romances in one book & not have to buy a book for every character in the one you are reading. I smiled and cried in the suspenceful romance. 3rd book in a row by this great writer. 340 pages GJRA

I cant find the right words to explain how great this book is. School violence is a scary reality. The topic is so well covered with real facts and alarming statics. You fall in love with the characters and it brings home the sacrifices our brave law enforcement make to keep us safe. They are often forgotten heroes. This book touches your heart in many ways. Its a must read.

Well written and compelling characters. A little dated with contemporary references, but a new and interesting story line.
