I believed in the fairytale.
The Happily-Ever-After.
The "till death do us part" fantasy little girls grow up believing in.
Unfortunately for me, my happy ending was divorce, and learning to find myself all over again.
I was done with men and relationships, or so I thought, until a stubborn hockey player was determined to show me what love could really be.
But could I fall for the fairytale a second time, and trust that he would protect my heart?

From the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she was made for me.
She was broken and I was determined to put her back together again.
I was here to prove she could have that fairytale love story after all.
To show her someone else can protect her heart and love her unconditionally.
Now I just have to convince her that someone is me.

I love hockey player romance. Hockey players are just a different breed of man. Mark is no exception he is the perfect man, sweet, loving, caring and just all around great guy. These are well-written characters with a great story. This story is all about the love between Mark and Laura, the friendship and relationship they build. Lots of steam and heat was included. I need the next book right now to see what happen with their quest. Great Book!!

She was coming off of a bad relationship and trying to work on her own healing. He is the new super star for the team and has set his eyes on her as the prize. This isn't one of this author's high angst reads but it doesn't stop it from being a good read. The characters are drool worthy and yes he uses a gentle hand with her and yup they are passionate together. This is just a little slower and a little more laid back than we are used to from this author which once again doesn't make it a bad read it's actually quite good. Can't wait for more of this series of standalone reads.

3.5 Stars Mark and Laura's story is book 4 of the Eagles series but definitely can be read as a standalone. I was excited for Mark and Laura to get together. In the other books in this series, you've seen Mark's interest and pursuit from the other character's POV so I was hoping to finally get a first hand account of what that pursuit looked like. After the prologue, the book fast forwards two years. Laura and Mark have established a friendship that eventually grows into something more. I would have loved to see more of what happened in the two years between the prologue and the first chapter. I didn't see or feel the friendship develop, I was only told that it did. I really like Mark and Laura but I wanted more conflict or more meat to their story that would have really invested me in their characters. *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*

Protecting Her Heart is book four in the Indianapolis Eagles series and each book can be read as a standalone if you choose to not read the whole series. Boy, we knew there would be heartache based upon the title and synopsis, but your heart will hurt on a whole different level when you read this story. Grab some tissues cause you will need it! It’s a fact of life that this will happen, but it ain’t ever easy nor is anyone ever ready for this! This is all I can say to avoid any spoilers. B will forever be in our hearts and I think many can agree with that even days after reading this story. Laura works in a man’s world, but she is darn good at her job. She may be tied to daddy, but you truly see that she works based upon her work ethic and not just cause her dad owns the team. She is very passionate about her job and her life. She’s mending herself after her divorce and takes some “me time” and I can respect her for that, but boy is she lucky Mark waited so long as she may have missed her chance at a second fairy-tale. Mark gets traded to the Eagles and from the moment he meets Laura he feels something there, but knows she’s working out some issues. He’s a true man! He works up a friendship with her and gives her the time she needs to find herself. Love how everyone finally agreed the “yes” was a long time coming. They say, “good things come to those who wait” and this couldn’t be truer for Mark and Laura. He’s shows her that not every man is like her ex. The things he does including samples makes you love him even more. Best wording I could think of based upon the situation as to not spoil it for anyone. The ending of this book, gah, I could hardly see for many reasons, but it was a mixture of sad/happy tears. I’m hoping that Mark’s former roommates will get their own story down the road. I love this team even when they beat the “Blackhawks”!

Laura had known Mark for two years ever since he was traded to the Indianapolis Eagles, her family’s hockey team. She will always remember when they first met because she thought he was handsome, polite and a true gentleman. She finally agreed to go on a date with him because she was now in a place where she was ready to find love again and after the wonderful time they had at the charity event, she hoped this would be the start of something special. Being friends with Mark made it easier for her to trust her heart with him and she wanted to believe that she could have a second chance at love. Mark had been interested in Laura since the day he met her when he signed with the team. For the past two years he had been trying to convince Laura to go out with him, and she finally said yes!! He thought she was beautiful and loved her smile, her work ethic and her zest for life. He was excited about their first date and wanted everything to be perfect. This was his dream come true and if he was lucky, maybe Laura would feel the same way about him, and he wanted to prove to her that she could trust him and that his feelings were genuine. Sometimes your soulmate comes into your life when you aren’t ready to commit but over time, as you get to know each other, friendship grows into a love that is everlasting. Laura deserved a happy ending and Mark was the gold at the end of her rainbow. Samantha Lind has given us a romantic and heartfelt story that made me laugh, cry, and always wish for a happy ending.

This book.....well, lets just say, I had trouble keeping the tears at bay. This is definitely one that you are gonna need tissues for. The story itself is a beautiful love story, but there are parts, I'm still getting choked up about, even after finishing the story. Mark is a pro hockey player, recently traded to the Indianapolis Eagles. He loves his job, his life, his team, but something is missing. He isn't sure what, but he is going to find out. Big changes bring him to a new city, and lead to a few surprises! Laura is the one who keeps the Eagles running, behind the scenes. Hockey is her life, it's in her blood. She has tried love, and it left her disappointed, divorced. Alone. But she still has her hockey family, her job. When Mark comes to Indy, she catches his eye and he tries to make his move, but she isn't ready. Mark's patience, and persistence, sure make for and interesting story! There is so much love, support, and emotion in this one book, I couldn't help but fall in love with these characters. The connection between them was immediate, and lasting. And HOT! This is an easy read, but an emotional one. Just make sure you have tissues handy!
