First love is always better the second time around.
Basil Manning is happy with his life now that he's given up on love. He has everything he needs...the houses he's building, the mansion he's renovating, and his Bernese Mountain Dog, Crash. In spite of his mother's insistent attempts to see him married, Basil plans on staying a bachelor. That is, until he finds himself face-to-face with the woman who once broke his heart.
Healing from a long-term relationship that turned abusive, Meg Cooper has flung herself into running her eclectic shop, The Pink Moose. She can't afford complications, and the too-hot-for-his-own-good Basil Manning, her one time almost fiancé, is definitely a complication. But that irresistible pull between them isn't over...not by a long shot. If she's not careful, she'll break both their hearts...again.

I am loving the Brighton Cove series. Meg and Basil in this story have great chemistry. Childhood best friends have found each other again and sparks start to fly with hot sex scenes and snarky interactions it's a great read. Mix in one interfering mother and you have plenty of tension as well. Looking forward to some things to be wrapped up in the conclusion to their story in book 3! Can't wait!
This review is based on the ARC copy of the second book in the Brighton Cove Series which I received from the author. It picks up from the ending of the first book, Everything About You. Meg is Audrey Cooper Stewart’s sister, and she has recently fled from her former fiancé after his verbal and emotional abuse has turned physical. As children the Cooper’s always spent their summers at Brighton Cove, which is how Meg and Basil Manning first met and fell in love. As they grew up they went their separate ways, Meg to New York and Basil back to England to live with his father, the Duke. They had lost touch with each other, until Meg decided to return to Brighton Cove to run her seasonal gift shop, The Pink Moose, and Basil returned to help his step-father build a small housing development there. Sparks fly the minute they run into each other again and their story moves very quickly. There are definitely hurdles to overcome, Meg’s former fiancé, Jake, is not willing to give her up so easily and Basil’s mother has some plans of her own for Basil’s future that do not include Meg Cooper. This is a fast-paced, well plotted story full of twists and turns that will keep the reader turning the pages to see what will happen next. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series to see where some of the twists and turns in this book will lead us.
I received an advanced reader's copy of this book from the author. The continuation of the Brighton Cove series was definitely not a disappointment! I enjoyed the book from the first page to the last. Meg and Basil are a sweet couple. They are so perfect together. But sweet doesn't mean there isn't heat! There's enough of that to keep the passion burning throughout the book. I loved the setting, the house, the interaction with family, and the obvious love and respect between Meg and Basil. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to see a relationship that works!
