Each season is beautiful. Winter instantly becomes a magical white wonderland after the first snowfall, spring is full of new blooms and baby animals and summer is full of sunshine and fun. Fall is a season that is full of it’s own special kind of magic. From the leaves changing colours to the fall harvest you just can’t help but be amazed by the beauty of the fall season. “Pumpkin Patch Blessings” is an adorable board book for young children. The author, Kim Washburn, has written a poem that reminds us of the blessings that God has given us in the fall season. All to often we take the world around us for granted. We fail to notice the crunch of the leaves beneath our feet or the bright orange of a perfect pumpkin laying in the field. “Pumpkin Patch Blessings” is a gentle reminder to look around us and enjoy everything that God has given us. The illustrator, Jacqueline East, uses warm fall colours to help set the stage for a cozy fall poem. Each image is a beautiful fall scene that will capture the imagination of every child. My son loved the pages where they talked about a wagon ride. He immediately remembered his last birthday party and how we had gone on a wagon ride with his classmates. We talked about how friends are blessings from God and how we need to remember to treat them special every single day. My daughter’s favourite part was when they children in the story were picking out the pumpkins. She recalled her trip to the pumpkin patch with her friends and all the excitement she had finding the perfect pumpkin for her Jack O’Lantern. We talked about how each pumpkin may not be perfect in our eyes, but to God each one is perfect. She remembered how each of her friends picked up a different shaped pumpkin to make their own “perfect” Jack O’Lantern. The story is perfect for young children, perhaps in the toddler to Kindergarten age range. My daughter enjoyed the story but felt that the story was a little “babyish” for her, “after all mom, I’m 6 and a half now!” “Pumpkin Patch Blessings” would be a beautiful story to share with little ones as we enter this fall season. *Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of “Pumpkin Patch Blessings” from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.

Pumpkin Patch Blessings by Kim Washburn is an adorable cute children's board book! I absolutely love fall so my family and I go all out. Pumpkin Patch Blessings is the perfect way to celebrates fall by teaching kids about the blessings that are all around us, especially in the pumpkin patch. I love the rhyming text throughout this book as well as the beautiful illustrations. My kids have been asking to read this book before bed for the last few days and after reading they always ask about visiting our local pumpkin patch because it's something we do each year. I love seeing them get excited about fall but more importantly I love seeing them recognize the blessings of the fall season and remembering to be thankful for all that God has given us. Pumpkin Patch Blessings is a wonderful way to kickoff the upcoming fall season! Disclosure: I received product(s) for free, in exchange for my honest review. I only recommend products I've used personally, and believe will be good fit for consumers.

“Pumpkin Patch Blessings” was sent to me free of charge, by Zonderkidz – a division of Zondervan Publishing – in exchange for my honest review. “Pumpkin Patch Blessings” is a children’s board book written by Kim Washburn. Its precious illustrations were done by Jacqueline East. In this book, we take a trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out just the right pumpkin. On the way we get to see, smell, and hear many of the sights, fragrances, and sounds of fall. Because this is a board book with bright, colorful pictures, the tiniest tot will enjoy flipping through it. I recommend it for little ones and those who read to them.

Simple and predictable rhyme story. Neither the rhymes nor the story were very interesting. The illustrations provided lots to explore and are what made the book any good at all. The mention of God’s creation and the blessings that a pumpkin patch brings are the two Christian themes in this toddler board book.

Autumn is such a pleasant time for me. I love to admire the fall foliage, get our my cozy sweaters, tour pumpkin patches, and eat pumpkin-flavored food. Well, all these good feelings have been swaddled up into a cute little children's book! Two children--one boy and one girl--explore the blessings of fall. With birdies, bunnies, lady bugs, and other natural friends, they truly have a blast. The kids eat pumpkin pie and corn-on-the-cob. They ride a horse-drawn hay wagon. They even pick their own pumpkins. Throughout the hard-covered, full-cover story, the text is a nice sized font. With simple rhymes of a few lines per page, this book is suitable for pre-k through grammar school children. Also, while the book has blessings in the title, there are no religious undertones in the book.

Yes, it's still summer, but the stores will be getting autumn clothes as well as Halloween goodies on their shelves next month. Zonderkidz is jumping the gun a little early with the August 2nd release of Pumpkin Patch Blessings. However, it'll give the title plenty of time to find young readers before autumn actually begins. Like most Zonderkidz titles, this book does mention God a few times. There's not really an actual plot here, but the narration explains to the reader that autumn is God's creation; though the illustrations shows a young brother and sister exploring all the wonders of what the Fall season brings; such as crunching on the falling leaves, eating corn on the cob, going on a hayride, and picking out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Just by glancing at the cover, I had originally thought the book would be about two young bunnies, but I was completely wrong; though the bunnies are featured on two pages where they are exploring in the pumpkin patch. Like I already mentioned, the book doesn't have an actual plot, but instead it features a narration that explains all the wonderful blessings God gives us during the autumn months. While God is mentioned a few times throughout the book, never once did it fell forced upon the reader, but instead it flows naturally within the narration. Overall, Pumpkin Patch Blessings is a cute little picture book that young readers will enjoy. I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my unbiased review. All opinions are my own.
