Guards of Folsom: Book One

Micah "Pup" Slayde knows he wants Tackett Austin the moment he lays eyes on him in the Guards of Folsom. Micah wants to have purpose, to be taken care of, and to take care of his Dom-wants to trust him completely, live for him, belong to him. To become his everything. Micah is sure Tackett is the one. The problem is, in order to be the perfect sub, he needs to stay focused, and that's not easy for Micah, who suffers from what he refers to as a "broken brain." Focus and adult attention deficit disorder rarely coexist.

Ever since Ty Callahan and Blake Henderson's collaring ceremony, Tackett's been thinking too much about his own loneliness. Even though Ty introduces Micah and urges Tackett to give him a try, Tackett isn't so easily convinced. He's spent his life pursuing a successful business career, and the subs he dominates almost never enjoy the kiss of his leather twice. Twenty years Micah's senior, Tackett has no interest in taking on and taming such a young and naughty sub-but it's difficult to resist such an adorable pup when he begs.

Amazing beginning to the series. A well done story line with characters that are deep and layered. The author has an incredible understanding of ADHD. I liked that Tackett saw beyond Micah's lack of control. While at times it frustrated him, it also amazed and intrigued him. He quickly realized that Micha is highly intelligent even while his thinking is scattered. Once he committed he gave everything of himself to Micah. Micha's determination is admirable. He admits to himself his shortcomings and yet it doesn't deter him. I loved that he understands that Tackett desires to be needed while he needs to be wanted. Adult read

This book along with being naughty, kinky, and down right fun, has a lot of deep meanings behind it. The charecters are so heart warming in their own ways, and Peterson does a really nice job not only developing and matureing the charecters throughout the novel, but also the relationship between them as it continues to grow.

I enjoyed the MCS in this book. This could have been a much story if the Dom didn't think he could cure his subs ADHD. He should have took the time to do some research on it. He admitted his sub could not control himself sometimes and agreed it was not his fault. But he punishes him any way. BDSM is not a secret cure.

FiveStars *Audiobook Review* Tackett & Micah... Whew.. I adored this story. It was a nice view into a BDSM relationship that's more than just Dom/sub in a club. The dynamics of this couple was excellent. Tackett's worry about being 'old' and Micah trying to handle his attention problem. Both of them had to learn that no matter who the Dom is and who the sub is, the most important part of being in a D/s relationship is being what the other person needed. Following their journey was quite interesting. I loved the way Tackett pushed Micah. It wasn't in the ways I expected and that was awesome. This was my first SJD Peterson book, but I can say now I'm a complete fan. The writing style was very smooth and captivating. Even though there were quite a few characters introduced in the book, the way it was done made it easy to follow along, which is a talent. I will most definitely be reading more of SDJ Peterson's works in the future. Rusty Topsfield did an AMAZING job with the audiobook. I've listened to many audiobooks and I can say that he was one of the best narrators I've heard. I loved his vocal inflection and the way he brought each character to life. When there were numerous characters in conversation he'd give them their own voice and keep it through out the scene, which most narrators have a hard time doing. While I'm giving 5 stars to SJD Peterson for the great book, I'm also giving Mr. Topsfield his own 5 star rating for a job very well done. I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. Renee
