Eugenio Hartzenbusch al editar las obras completas de Ruiz de Alarcón en 1852, estableció la mejor versión de este texto.

La obra no aparece en las dos partes de las obras de Alarcón editadas entre 1628 y 1624. Y fue publicada por primera vez por el impresor sevillano Francisco de Leefdael, a mediados del siglo XVI...
