Batik fabric makes wonderful quilted items. While there are some Batiks I don’t care for – just like there are some “regular” fabrics I don’t care for, if I get the right ones, I love the way they make up. The first chapter in this book is a Q&A about Batiks – what is it, a bit of history, how to match and sew with them. There are a dozen quilt patterns and each has a color photo showing off the finished item. Material and cutting lists have lots of information in them and you will find a small paragraph about the quilt. There are a few tips scattered throughout the book in orange colored boxes. Graphics help to show different steps in the creation process. The written instructions say quilt as desired but there are actually quilting graphics included. Templates are also included at full size. While I don’t like every color combination the author used, I can certainly see my own choices in those patterns. And there is a one page bio about the author on the last page of the book. If you make a quilt a month, you will be busy for a year with this book. Get a copy soon.
