Overview

Quite Curious (A Lowcountry Novella) by Lyla Payne

**This is an "in-between" novella and not a full length novel**

Graciela is hoping that, despite the reappearance of her father--who's supposed to be dead--her life in Heron Creek might be about the calm down.

Her boyfriend's mother has other ideas, ones that include getting to know her son's new squeeze. The proposition makes Beau nervous for more than one reason, a couple of which would be news to Gracie.

Amelia's therapy appears to be going well, so that's working in Gracie's favor, but with trouble brewing in Will and Mel's marriage, the moonshiners getting more involved in Heron Creek affairs instead of less, and Leo's sister Lindsay returning from her stint in the state pen, settled isn't the best word to describe life in the small town.

Gracie is starting to think that maybe seeing ghosts is the least complicated thing about her...and she's probably right.

Includes POVs from Beau, Will, Leo, Amelia, and Clete.

About the Author

Lyla Payne has been publishing New Adult romance novels for a little over a year, starting with Broken at Love and continuing with the rest of the Whitman University series. She loves telling stories, discovering the little reasons people fall in love, and uncovering hidden truths in the world around us - past and present. In her spare time she cuddles her two dogs, pretends to enjoy exercising so that she can eat as much Chipotle as she wants, and harbors a deep and abiding hope that Zac Efron likes older women. She loves reading, of course, along with movies, traveling, and Irish whiskey. Lyla's hard at work, ALWAYS, and hopes to bring you more Whitman University antics and at least one more Lowcountry ghost tale before the end of the year.

Lyla Payne is represented by Kathleen Rushall at Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.

I really love novellas that add a fantastic transition from one novel to the next. This novella was a fantastic way to prepare us for Not Quite Gone (eep, so excited for it to release - is it time yet?) Ah, the POVs … they’re stellar, of course. Beau’s POV leads me to believe his mother will be a force to be reckoned with. She has an agenda, and I can’t help but wonder what that means for Gracie and Beau.No Lowcountry book would be complete without Gracie, and this novella doesn’t disappoint. Amelia’s POV is both insightful and troubling, and I can’t help but ache for her as she struggles to keep her head above water. Clete, Will, and Leo also join the POV list, and having a chance to read from their perspectives was a real treat. I really hope Daria’s character will appear more in Not Quite Gone because I think she can really teach Gracie a great deal, and I loved the role she played in this novella. This entire novella really has me excited for Not Quite Gone! As always, Lyla delivers the Lowcountry characters and story with detail and intrigue. I’m ALWAYS excited to read more about Gracie and her cohorts, and I’ve already one-clicked the next book!
