About the Author

Susan Webb grew up in Des Moines, IA and now lives in one of the few remaining blue collar beachside communities of central Florida. She studied creative writing at Grandview College and American literature at the East Carolina University. In the mid 1980’s she hitch-hiked from the mid-west to the western coast of the US. The 1990’s brought additional travels to the east coast and the deep south with her military husband. Friends, and strangers who became friends, have shaped her writing and guided her words.

The book is young adult, paranormal suspense - two areas I don't normally frequent. This was a pleasant side trip. I grew up in the midwest, and the descriptions the author weaves of people and their activities triggered many memories. I was a swimmer in school, so that part fit as well. It was interesting to see a historical hotel used as a major setting for the story, and I was involved enough to take a brief break and look it up. There were perhaps a few too many flashback/dream sequences for my taste, but I'm an old retired guy, not a young multi-tasker. There is an additional little twist at the end that is worth the reading to get to it!
