Reckless Longing by Gina Robinson

Book One of the Reckless Series
A Contemporary New Adult College Romance

Ellie and Logan's love story begins one hot August night…

Ellie

My mom betrayed me in the worst way possible. I can't forgive her, but I can outwit her. I'm going to unravel the family secret she's been keeping from me my whole life. So I'm going to college across the state from her, to the place that has the answers. I hope. But I have to be careful or I'll blow everything. I can't tell anyone what I'm doing.

I didn't mean to fall in love. I can't afford to give my heart away or open up to anyone, least of all charming, rich, former bad boy baseball star Logan Walker. But he looked so adorable sitting there nursing a black eye the night I met him at my very first campus event. The way he held my hand made me flush in the suffocating heat of August and feel really beautiful for the first time in so long I can't remember. My scar didn't even hurt.

But Logan's moods are mercurial. He's keeping secrets of his own that are too dark to share, even with me. We agree to be just friends. But our hearts and bodies have minds of their own. Before I know it, I'm in too deep with him and the answer to the family secret I came to campus to find may be the thing that tears us apart.

This is a contemporary romance with mature themes, language, and situations. Readers should be over 17!

So, one thing I can say about this book is that it is different. What I really loved about this book is that it kept me guessing throughout the entire book. I kept thinking, this is it. He's going to figure out why she looks familiar. Or this is it, she's gonna tell him. Really, the whole book I kept thinking that. And then, we get to the end and the results are in and .......... You ARE or ARE NOT the father? Dang it. The book ends. All that working up to it and then you left me hanging. Ugh. Oh well, other than the cliffie, I really liked the book. I am a total sucker for any book that is based on college love. Maybe it's my inability to grow up? Peter Pan-college age syndrome? Who knows? A friend of mine wrote this and I totally agree. We need Logan's POV. We need to know what is going on his his mind and what he is doing when he is away. It would totally help up connect with Logan a little better. For whatever reason, that is where I am struggling. I loved the idea of this book and I cannot wait to get the next book. There are so many unanswered questions that my head is spinning. Please, Gina. Put us out of our misery and get that next book out!! *Copy provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

Warning…….This is a contemporary romance with mature themes, language, and situations. Readers should be over 17! What did I like? This was a well-constructed story that really had me from page one. The mystery of the family secret was well hidden and sure kept me guessing. The characters were fascinating and well developed. My favorite was Logan, he was the perfect catch for Ellie and I wanted so much to see everything work out for them. I liked the side distractions that kept cropping up and was rooting for all of the action that was taking place. What are you going to like? The first thing will be the storyline. You can tell that the author put lots of thought into the method and the action. The characters will be the next thing that will win you over. All of them are well developed and each makes the story work to perfection. The last thing that will capture your heart will be the ending. I know that it did mine and I just can’t wait till book two which is already out, Reckless Secrets, with the final book being Reckless Together.

There are highs and lows for this college girl. She finds out who her biological father is and plans her schedule to spend time around him. She wants to see who he is and could he figure into her life. Why did her mom keep his name out of any discussions. Of course, along the way she comes across romance with a person who can help her plans. This would be good for book club discussions with students this age who run across new emotions, new situations.

I can honestly say that there is nothing bad I can say about this book. Who wouldn't love Ellie? Her mother is horrendous, she's been dealt the worst hand in life and yet she's strong and optomistic and somehow still open to new beginnings. I knew I was going to like Logan right away. That black eye just sucked me in. He was great throughout the entire book. I really enjoyed the twist ending, mostly because, although I tried, I could not figure out the deal with this Professor Rogers. You will not be disappointed if you read this book. I didn't know that it was going to end up being a series but I like that. There are so many things that happened, it would have been a shame to close everything out in one book. I am very eager to see what happens with Jason and also her mother.

Well Cover always comes first. I will be honest, what I love most about the cover is how it is in all blacks, whites and greys and that pop of pink for the word "Longing." The simplicity of it all is just so beautiful. Now on to the book. It had me on page 2. I loved where this story was going and I really wanted to know what Logan's secret truly was. I found the story to be a fun read, Ellie's character is smart, and down to earth with that rough edge that keeps her stronger than most. She and her college friends were a lot of fun to read. Her quest to find her biological father had me turning the pages. Wondering what would happen next. What I think actually really sold me was how Author Gina Robinson, incorporated a a very touchy taboo in her book masterfully. It was gentle yet had such a strong impact in the story and the characters involved. Robinson made the reader love each and every character that Ellie encounters in a good way, and really dislike the characters that were meant to be the "evil villains." And the best part is that she makes the reader want more!! I am by far Team Dex, one of Ellie's friends, the reader will fall head over heels for this character like I did. But the realistic side of the story is that, all the events in author Robinson's book could actually happen in the life of a college-aged girl. I think that is why it was such a fantastic read. It was no real dramatization, the reader can relate to the events as it was any young lady in a college or university. All in all this is a fabulous read. I enjoyed every minute of it. The author will leave the reader with their mouth open saying "no she didn't!" then will flip the page and be like "YAY!!!" I certainly cannot wait for book two!
