Red Diamonds
Peter Bradovich's great-grandfather, Metodyj, was one of the most renowned jewelry makers in the Russian empire. In the winter of 1917, Tsar Nicholas's wife, Alexandra, gave him a priceless fifty carat red Peruzzi cut diamond, and six smaller red Mazarin-cut diamonds. Her orders to Metodyj: "Create for me the most magnificent necklace ever seen."

On July 16, 1918, the Bolsheviks murdered Nicholas, Alexandra, and their entire family. Metodyj secreted the diamonds in a carefully devised hiding place and spent the rest of his life waiting for the Bolsheviks to appear at his doorstep and demand that he return the diamonds. They never did...

Now, almost a hundred years later, Peter has discovered a clue to the location of the diamonds. He and his son set out on a quest to find the diamonds and bring them to the United States. Their quest takes them from the shores of Lake Erie to the canals of Venice, and eventually to the mountains of southwestern Ukraine.
