My mom doesn't understand about red.

I like my red stockings the best.

My mom says, "Wear these. Your white stockings look good with that dress."

But I can jump higher in my red stockings.

I like my red stockings the best.

I like my red jacket the best.

My mom says, "You need to wear your blue jacket. It's too cold out for your red jacket."

But how can I be Red Riding Hood in my blue jacket?

I like my red jacket the best.

I like my red boots the best.

My mom says, "You can't wear your red boots in the snow. They're just for rainy weather."

Small book about a toddler who prefers red for everything. Easy read, very cute- may be long depending on group

Oh, I love this story, I'll try it again when Liam is a little bigger, it is too long for him at the moment.

This book does not attempt to explain preferences in reasonable terms, but in the terms of a child. The red mittens are best because they make better snowballs. The red paint puts singing in her head. The juice just tastes better in the red cup. She likes red because red is best - just as simple as that. And we can see from the pictures that some of these arguments (like the one about the red cup and red pajamas) she wins and others (like the red rainboots for the snow) she simply doesn't. Pretty realistic. My nieces and I also talk about why her red mitts "have holes in them" or why she "hardly has any red paint left". I'm sure you can work it out :)This is a simple, engaging book with simple, uncluttered illustrations. Please, check it out!

Red is 3 year old Kelly¿s favorite color. She insists on wearing her red stockings, red coat, red gloves and red boots, even though mom insists that her other pairs are more suitable. The author was inspired by her daughter who wanted to wear red socks with a blue and white dress. The story has simple repetitious language for a pre-schooler to understand and learn the words to recite the story. Winner of the 1982 IODE Award

A delightful story for toddlers and preschoolers. The girl in the story LOVES red, and says "my mother doesn't understand" why she won't drink juice out of a blue cup, or wear the pink ribbons in her hair, or wear the green mittens. Funny for both parents and children - this one will be read many times over.

My daughter received this book as a gift when she was one years old. She fell in love with it as a toddler, adored it as a young school girl and idolized the color red as a tween! We started giving it as a gift for every baby shower we attended for years, along with red accessories like hats, barrettes, socks, sleepers etc. Now my little girl is about to have her first baby.......and you guessed it! She will be receiving the board book version, complete with plenty of red accessories for her little girl to cherish!

Excellent book! We've been using it in the classroom for about 7 years and it never gets old.
