Overview

Many years have passed since the Great War that destroyed over three quarters of the world’s population. Now, humans and supernaturals alike have learned how to survive in the new world. For Avery Hendrin, the eldest daughter of the man who brought light back to the world, life has taken a turn for the worse. Sold into slavery after her father’s death, Avery’s only concern is keeping her younger sister safe. Branded as a witch and rejected by her own kind because of her red hair, Avery resigns herself to a life in the slave house until a chance meeting with a powerful Lycan named Tristan Williams.

Although Tristan does not believe the human’s tales of the Reds being witches, he has no need for Avery. He’s in search of a nanny for his young children and after an impassioned plea from the redhead, agrees to hire her younger sister as his nanny. However, his beloved daughter Sophia has an immediate connection with Avery and Tristan cannot deny her request to purchase Avery as well, despite the discord it will bring to his household.

Struggling to accept her new life as a slave and to ignore her almost immediate attraction to Tristan, Avery tries to hide her healing powers from him but exposes her gift when she saves Tristan’s adopted brother from death.

Tristan believes his obsession with Avery is nothing more than lust. Determined to bed her despite her strange powers, will he convince her to accept her new life or give her the freedom she craves?

In 160 pages the author proposes a post apocalypse feudal world in which the remaining humans are mostly slaves to the lycans. The opening scene is a bad job interview, as Avery tries to protect her sister Maya, by getting her taken on as a nanny slave. Intriguing elements to the world are unexplained, writing style is basic, descriptive details minimal, lots of gratuitous graphic sex, formulaic characters without motivation or any character development, and no memorable dialogue. There are evil faeries who suck your soul (think HP dementors), one vampire, multiple witch burning references, and werewolves who change back and forth as needed to engage in battles, but no real detail to the lycan myth or culture. Wolves have been diminished to the point humans are acceptable for breeding, but Tristan's mom and would be fiance are purists. Lots of completely forgettable and pointless graphic sex scenes between Tristan and Avery. Tristan alternates between catering to the whims of his daughter, having sex, rescuing Avery, and being clueless to what goes on in his household. Avery puts up with abuse to protect her clueless and ungrateful sister. Its hard to understand the supposed attractions between the main characters. It may be free, but this one still needs lots of work and rewriting. The world created has potential, needs a lot more development and polish to be ready for prime time.

I loved this book till i got to the part where avery laid down naked with tristans brother right in front of him naked and swaped tongues with him and let him feel her up, all in the name of healing him. Why couldnt she just have to touch him? That really turned me off. I wondered how many men she was gonna end up laying down with and how tristan was gonna be ablle to stand it. It ruined the book for me. Phyl p

This book has the potential to be a great book. I loved the characters and story but felt like there was not enough of the the story and too much graphic sex. Seems like all they wanted to do was go at each other. Please leave some things to the imagination. If you like more sex and less story then this book is for you. I would have loved the book to have started when her parents were living and would have liked a fight between Tristan and Hendrick over Avery. Didn't like the fairy scenes, too far fetched. Unfortunately I won't read anymore of this author's book.

Not enough back story, how could slavery be legal? Avery, with her background, accepting slavery to ptotect her sister, was ridiculous. Tristan is portrayed as an unfeeling idiot who has no idea what goes on in his house or he just doesn't care. Avery has sex with him, he knows she is being mistreated but doesn't ask any questions? She was chained to a wheel and left in the rain, she was put in a cell with no bed or heat, she was hit in the face and bled. He saw the abuse she suffered but did nothing since she was a slave. Avery tells Tristan bout her father buying and freeing slaves or paying them wages but even after saving every member of his family he agrees to sell her instead of FREEING her. I kept reading hoping story would get better, unfortunately it did not. I would not be surprised if this author was a teenager. Save your money for your favorite author.

The writing style indicates an unsophisticated, mediocre juvenile author who uses crude language probably not by choice, probably just has limited dictation. The healer in this book needs maximum area of skin contact so she puts her tongue in her brother in law's mouth. AND for her to recuperate she also needs optimum skin contact with a well person so the slave master obliges by having sex with her repeatedly.

A really good read.

Very pleasantly surprised! Not only a romance but a sci- fi book reminiscent of Robert Heinlin Number of the Beast series or Jacquline Lichenstein's channel/Sim series. Readers selecting may not be ready for the concepts and ideas used by the author because it was erronerously offered as a romance. The author asked what if this happened, could this happen? I enjoyed trying to understasnd the sociasl differences described and how the othor had the charcters lived in this "what if" world.

Definitely not for anyone under 18. I liked the story and it's a great guilty read. I would have liked the story to be richer, But it was a fun book overall. This would make a good series if the author could make the world come alive more.

The premise is good but lacks a bit of explanation due to the incredible number of sexual encounters. The book becomes more about the protagonists' sexcapades than about real character development and plot. Interesting read at times, just lacking in the real elements that make a great story for me.

For a free book this book wasnt bad. During the faery attacks this book sounded like a kids book. The love scenes  werent all that hot either. Not horrible but not a great book either.

Too bad I had to scroll thru all the sexually explicit, totally unnecessary, stuff. I otherwise enjoyed the story. What waste of space to put all that other crap in it.

I don't know why people read books with sex in them and then don't like the book This is F A N T A S Y. I really like this book the characters are great and believable. I couldn't put it down. I will read the next books in the series.

After skipping continous graphic sex scenes (80%) - the remainder of the book was not enough to be even 1 star. I will never order another book by someone whose mind is non stop porn. I want a refund!
