★★★★½ Rekindle the Flame is an adult contemporary romance short-story written by Kate Meader. I listened to the audio version as part of the romance anthology titled Baby, It's Cold Outside, which has this story titled as Bringing the Heat. It is also #0.5 in Ms. Meader's Hot in Chicago series. This was my first exposure to a series that now has me very, very interested. I really liked this one...a lot! Rekindle the Flame was a VERY close second favorite in the anthology. Yes, it's about firemen but not only in the sexy, hot calendar way. Mostly about mending the hurts from your past, finding yourself, and growing stronger. Loved the heroine in this one...and yes, the hero too. Loved it!

Rekindle the Flame (Hot in Chicago 0.5) by Kate Meader is the book that starts the Hot in Chicago series and introduces us to the Dempsey Clan. I have loved everything that Kate Meader has written, yes you can say that I am obsessed. This novella is just the ticket to add some Christmas Spark to your Holiday Season. This is the story of Beck and Darcy. Beck Rivera is one of the foster sons of the Dempsey Clan. He wants nothing more than to follow in the footsteps of the man that saved his life as a teenager, to honor his memory and that of his older foster brother by becoming a member of the Chicago Fire Department. When working at the family owned bar one night, he runs into (literally) the woman that has haunted his dreams, the woman that he pushed away, he knows that this time, if given the chance, he will never let her go. Darcy Cochrane is a socialite. She bucks her position at every turn, doing the opposite of what her father wants her to do, wanting nothing more than to follow her heart and live her dreams. When she returns to Chicago to help care for her ailing grandmother, she never expected to run into Beck Rivera, the boy that broke her heart all those years ago. Hiding the truth about her life from Beck might be easier said than done, but falling for Beck again......might just be Darcy's undoing. What I loved about Beck and Darcy is that the feelings that they had for each other so long ago never died. They were simmering under the surface and just need a little air to start a passionate blaze that consumed them both. I loved that Beck saw Darcy for who she really was, that he accepted her, would not let her hide her light, her talent, all the things that make her the woman that he loved, just to please her father and society. I loved that Darcy did not care about Beck's past, that she loved him because of what he went through, because he fought hard to turn his life around and become a better man. If you love stories surrounding family, HOT fireman, and a blazing HEA, than this is the book for you.

Classic Kate Meader Rating: 4.5 Rekindle the Flame reminds me of why I love Kate Meader. She brings heat and humor, with those darn it, “I knew I shouldn't drink and read moments.” I can only wonder if she's this funny in person. Rekindle the Flame is a second chance love story at its finest. As teenagers, Darcy Cochrane and Beck Rivera had a loved filled couple of months. But the two were from different worlds, she is the daughter of one of the richest men in Chicago and he is the foster son of a legendary Chicago firefighter. Beck was consistently reminded that he wasn’t good enough for her. So, he broke things off in order for Darcy to have the life he felt she deserved. Now, seven years later, the two are going to have a second chance. This is a novella that starts off the Hot in Chicago series and was originally part of the Baby, It’s Cold Outside anthology. I had no idea how hot Beck and Darcy were going to be. Beck is caring and passionate and says things that just makes a girl swoon. “You always have my attention. When you’re in the room, you’re my sun.” Darcy also shows her caring and passionate side. Rekindle the Flame is best summed up with a quote from the book itself, “Girl walked into a bar, hooked up her destiny.” This is definitely a perfect story to cuddle up with on a cold night. But don't drink and eat while reading. Grandma Cochrane likes to sneak up on you. **Received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest unbiased opinion.**

Reviewed by Angela and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog Beck Rivera is one of the Dempsey foster siblings from Hot in Chicago series by Kate Meader. This short story focuses on Beck Rivera, who is a Firefighter, who gets a second chance not only in life in general but a second chance with his teen love Heiress Darcy Cochrane. A second chance at romance gets me every time. When Beck and Darcy are given the chance, you feel the love they once have so, falling in love with them was not hard to do. The time apart from each other gave them the leverage to be on equal footing that I thought was needed before they can be together again. They’re coming together felt like it was meant to be. Enjoyed this couple’s story. Note: These novellas are now being sold separately which are listed below if you decide to purchase separately.

This is a smoking hot story about a firefighter and his first love. Beck Rivera escaped a rough childhood when he found his home with Chicago firefighter Sean Dempsey. Unfortunately, his father and brother died, he continues their legacy by working as a firefighter himself. When he is reunited with his first love, Darcy Cochrane heiress and tattoo artist, at the family bar the sparks begin to fly. Darcy is traveling through Chicago on her way to a new job and isn't looking to rekindle her romance with Beck. Will he be able to convince to give him a second chance? Kate Meader write fun, sexy tales between firefighters and strong women. I enjoyed this novella, when it was published as a part of an anthology, and I enjoy it on its own now that I have read the rest of the books I the Hot in Chicago series. This book is an excellent introduction to the series or a fun way to find out more about the Demosy family. I was given a free copy for an honest review by netgalley.com

Firefighter? check. Hot bartender? check. Combine the two (into one hottie), add in a tattooed rebel and you have a wonderful reunited lovers story that introduces some new delicious male characters that are featured in the Hot In Chicago series. I appreciated that Darcy was hesitant to give Beck a second chance and was cautious in her approach with him. Also I really liked Darcy's character in general, being free to be herself finally and the shock it gives Beck to see the changes she has gone through since their breakup seven years earlier. I enjoyed the camaraderie between the firefighters. Combining witty dialogue, humour and steamy scenes, this story will have you scoping out your own taverns in search of the elusive handsome males presented here.

I loved this! Fantastic story about reconnecting. Entertaining and sexy! Beck and Darcy are really great, interesting characters. These two have a serious history and I loved all the details about their past. I enjoyed how the past played into the present and how much they've grown and changed. Them coming together was wonderful. So passionate! There were so many sweet, playful, entertaining moments between the Beck and Darcy as well as some extremely hot ones. They have massive chemistry and a ton of pent up of lust and tension from the past. Once they connect, sparks definitely fly! There were a lot of fun parts in this that has me grinning. Darcy's friend Mel was great and I loved her grandmother. She was an unfiltered, inappropriate, commenting trip! A truly fascinating character. I loved getting to see all the Dempsey siblings too. Gage always makes me smile. Loved seeing all the connections from the first two books. I read the book one and two before this pre-novella so I was excited to know all of Beck and Darcy’s history and how they came together as a couple. There was also nice amount of tension and emotion as well as a bit of drama mixed in making it a well rounded story with excellent writing. Awesome build too! The end was so sweet and romantic, Beck is a heck of a sexy firefighter. What a wonderful happily ever after! I love getting more of the Hot In Chicago series!

I originally read this one as part of the Baby, It's Cold Outside anthology. It was great then and it's great now! Teenage loves Beck Rivera and Darcy Cochrane are reunited after eight years and although neither of them are the same people they were, the flare between them still burns as bright and intense as ever. Beck achieved his goal of becoming a Chicago FD firefighter. Darcy is nothing like the girl she was. Now a famed tattoo artist, she ran far and fast from her father's clutches and she doesn't want to be in the same city of he is for any longer than necessary. Can Beck get her to stay??? I highly recommend this Hot in Chicago prequel!

Rekindle the Flame by Kate Meader is book 0.5 in the Hot in Chicago series. I read this book as part of the Baby It's Cold Outside anthology. Darcy and Beck have a past. It’s been eight years since Beck walked away from her. Darcy is back in Chicago to help her ailing Grandmother for three months. She is from a prominent family but escaped out from under her father’s thumb and expectations and has gone from little princess to tattoo artist. She is going to help her Grandmother, then she is out of this town and away from her father’s influence. Beck is a firefighter but is currently on a forced leave. He can’t believe Darcy is here in his bar. But this isn’t the Darcy he remembers. Can he convince her to give him a second chance? To stay? “You always have my attention. When you’re in the room, you’re my sun.” This was a sweet story of second chances and of finding your own way. These two together were smoking hot but still, so sweet. “No more hiding. No more running. No more denying. I’m yours, mi reina. Always have been, always will be.”
