Morning dew covered the grass around a makeshift den of sticks, mud, and woven grass. Two kits toppled out of the den giggling and playfighting. A full grown she-cat followed them close behind. "Moon! Falcon! Don't go too far!" She called to her 2 moon old kits. "We won't, Mink!" They sang back in highpitched voices. Mink sat down and curled her mottled black and brown tail around her paws neatly. She wstched her two bundles of joy playing chase around a bush. Moon, a white she-kit with black spots on her face, tapped her brother on the shoulder and ran away again with Falcon on her tail. Falcon was a black tomkit who took after his father in fur color and body build. He grabbed Moon with sheathed claws and pinned her down. "Gotcha! Now it's your turn to catch me!" Moon sqealed in delight as she chased her brother into the reeds, out of the reeds, into the bush, and into the den. Mink purred pleased to see her kits playing so gleefully. It was only one more moon before the two kittens would have to prove themselves as rouge cats, and go out on their own for three moons.
