So many people when talking about sex trafficking talk about how horrific it is, and many more say they don't understand how it  happens. Even more are silenced when they hear it happens in America; in Atlanta. If you want to better understand sex trafficking, how it really happens, understand more why the women and children 'stay', and let God open your eyes to an injustice we all need to fight, then read Susan Coggins Norris incredible God inspired book called "Rescuing Hope". This book gives the intimate details into a young girls heart, emotions, and path to and through sex trafficking as well as telling the  story of what her mom and close friends feel in losing their Hope. If I were to ever recommend a book to teach anyone how to better  understand how/what happens and what the young girls feel, this would be it! From a psycholgoical view point this book so beautifully  explains the pain these young girls and their families face by letting you be in the story with them. Forewarning, this book will be heart  wrenching. Even though I have worked with some young women like this (on different levels), my heart was absolutely shattered in the  reality of this book. But let us walk boldly and with courage into the fight with God against quite possibly the most horrific reality of our world. Truth is the beginning of freedom for these young girls!!  John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Accurate depiction of what sex trafficking in America is like. It's a hard issue, but if girls like Hope can survive the everyday hell of sex trafficking, I can read a book about it. This book, along with my own research, has inspired me to volunteer in a sex trafficking shelter.

As I sit here quiet and alone in my hotel room on yet another work trip, I am reminded of what is happening all across America (and the world, for that matter) in hotel rooms of people on business trips, sporting event trips, or just pleasure trips. I was forced to face the reality of what is happening literally under our noses here in our very own homeland of America to our sweet, innocent, young girls when I read Rescuing Hope by Susan Norris. Though this is a fiction story, it is woven from true details of America's sex trafficking underworld. Norris did not set out to write a novel. She merely began to discover unexpectedly how prevalent the modern-day slave industry of sex trafficking has become in our very own hometowns.Upon the shocking, sickening realization that girls as young as nine years old are being tricked into this prison of life, Norris felt the earnest need to learn and share as much as she could about this secretive world that thrives all around us. In doing this, she ultimately wove a compelling fiction novel from multiple threads of truth including survivors of human sex trafficking, detectives who have worked countless cases in order to rescue and bring justice, as well as even the input of a former pimp. Thankfully this horrific hell on earth is more and more in the spotlight these days than it once way, however, so much still remains to be done in this battle. This industry MUST be shut down! If you don't understand why I feel so strongly about this, read Rescuing Hope and then you will.  I would like to close my review of this excellent work with a portion of Norris's Acknowledgement / Introduction section in her own words: To my readers, thank you for taking the time to read about a difficult subject, when it would be easy to turn away. I pray Rescuing Hope stirs something inside you to propel you into action. Find your place in the fight against the commercial sexual exploitation of children. There's room for everyone in this battle. We need your voice, your gifts, your talents. What part will you play in becoming a voice for hope? You may choose to look the other way, but you can never say again that you did not know. ~ William Wilberforce ~ (as quoted in Rescuing Hope by Susan Norris)  Disclaimer: I received this book for free from Glass Road PR. No other compensation was received. The fact that I received a complimentary product does not guarantee a favorable review.

If you are a parent of a young girl, if you yourself are a young girl, if you have friends who are females, if you have family members who are young females, or have friends who have young girls, YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK. This is a fictional story of a 14 year old girl named Hope. Even though this is a fictional story, it is a very, very real subject. Rescuing Hope is about a girl who is just like every other young teenage girl. She has her ups and downs with her friends and parents. She could be the girl next door. She could be you. She finds herself sweet talked by an older boy, she finds the attention wonderful, just as any girl does when an attractive boy is giving them attention. Before she knows it, she's sweet talked right off her feet...and right into the horrible nightmare of a sex trafficking ring. It is an unbelievably gut-wrenching thought, and every teenage girl who reads that sentence is going to think "I would never fall for that". If you are a teenage girl and just thought that, then you definitely need to read this book, you have no idea how these guys operate, it's not like they meet you and say 'hey hottie, why don't you come party w/ me and a few of my friends, if you show them a good time, you can make some good money'. It's not like that at all, and this story shows how smooth these guys can be. Ok. with that said, this book is written very well, and shows the facts on how things like this happen, and how these rings manage to keep their girls under lock and key. Ms. Norris did a great job writing a book that you just can't put down, I read it straight through in less than a day, on the edge of my seat hoping Hope would find her way home. I nearly went through a box of tissues, but I couldn't stop reading. This book would be a great tool to help parent & child communicate about such an awkward subject. Parents who are wary of letting their child read this book, let me quote the author from the beginning of the book: "What you are about to read is fiction. However, the events in this book are based on interviews with survivors of human sex trafficking, their families, detectives, people from religious and rescue organizations on the frontlines, and a former pimp. Some of the content is mature and though we have strived for a PG-13 treatment of it, this book should be read with adult supervision. We encourage you to take any questions to an adult you trust." The author did a very good job at keeping it PG-13. There is mention of rape, and some violence, but it never goes into detail. It may say the actual word rape, or something along the lines of 'while he had his way with her' but that is basically the extent of the description. I would encourage parents to read the book either with their child, or read it before your child, so you know what they are going to read, and be ready for questions. If they have no questions, I would suggest you asking questions to them. Actually, so does Ms. Norris. She actually has discussion topics/questions at the end of the book, to help you along. This could be a great learning tool for young women and parents everywhere, I would recommend it to anyone!

Sex trafficking is all too real. It is an enterprise that is thriving in our own backyards. We must educate ourselves, and those around us,  about this heinous crime. Susan Norris has provided a tool with which we can introduce this topic to a younger audience.  "Rescuing Hope" is based on facts, written as a novel. I finished the book in a matter of hours. The author’s characters draw you in  at once. It is as though you become personally invested in the outcome.  It is my opinion that Susan Norris achieved a delicate balance between sharing the truth about an atrocity unimaginable to most people,  and telling it in such a way that it is appropriate to share with our adolescent children. I recommend "Rescuing Hope" for young and  old alike. I pray that it motivates you to take action.  ~ LK
