Restless Ink (Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs) by Carrie Ann Ryan

The Montgomery Ink series continues with the so-called sensible sister and the one man she never should have fallen for.

For Thea Montgomery, baking isn't only therapeutic, it's also her dream job. She's worked countless hours keeping her bakery afloat, and now that it's where she wants it to be, she's ready to expand and take the next step. When it comes to work and her family, she's on top of her game. Her personal life, however, is a different story.

When Dimitri Carr isn't teaching and hiding his ink under long sleeves to keep the bosses happy, he's trying to be the best brother and friend he can be. After his divorce, he'd thought he would lose Thea from his life forever because she's his ex-wife's best friend. But now that he's free, and the two of them realize they want to keep their friendship. Then he finally sees what he's been missing all this time.

But there are more problems than the fact that Dimitri is Thea's best friend's ex. And when accidental touches and flirtations aren't enough for either of them, and they're finally ready to take the next step, they'll find out exactly what that cost is for crossing that line. And will need to find the strength to face it.

Can I give this more than 5 stars? I wish I could. I got this book as an ARC from Carrie, then bought it and it's now one of my favorites. Thea and Dimitri are so cute together. They came together slowly and it built to something wonderful (even though someone was working against them). Their friends were so happy for them. It was fun to see other Montgomeries in the story. That's always a plus. A good sexy story that you won't want to put down

Dimitri and Thea have been friends for a long time but they took their friendship to the next level after a night of fun and games. Dimitri's ex-wife is Thea's best friend which made things interesting. As Dimitri and Thea's relationship blossomed, suspicious incidents started happening but they were reluctant to come to the obvious conclusion. This story is jam packed with drama and passion and is a wonderful addition to the Colorado Springs series.

Okay here is a thing, I know Roxie and Carter are next and there is a lot of foreshadowing here. I am going to be honest, I am not sure I am ready for it. While this book is about Thea and Dimitri, you can definitely tell something hard and heartbreaking is on the horizon for Roxie and Carter. So I am just saying be prepared in this book, have a bottle of wine because those little snippets of Roxie and Carter hurt. Anywho, Thea and Dimitri. I would just like to say how much I love that all the families intertwined in this series love food and alcohol. Don't read this one if you have munchies or you there it's like 1 a.m. in the morning and the bakery section is closed - you will become hangry. Thea has a heart of gold and her "best friend" Molly is well without giving away spoilers, trust your gut when you meet her in the book. It's always hard to have two best friends that got married and then got divorced but you care about them both then throw in some developing feelings it's going to get messy. However, I was in glee reading through the little romance and the internal struggle of them both trying to come to terms with it. Dimitri, aka Giles, you'll get it trust me. Also, Giles for the freaking win. Then he's Team Captain, which I mean let's face it, all the smart people are Team Captain. I love the nerdy references and the family love. It doesn't matter how old you are, where life has taken you - your family should also be there for you. A family is about love both through the good times and the hard times and the heartbreaking time. I know there is only one more book in this series, but I can't pick a favorite as I love the all. I want friends like there are in the book. Sure they seem overwhelming and good-hearted nosy at times, but they are always there for each other too. They don't take crap from others and that includes the friends putting themselves down.

Restless Ink is book 2 in the Colorado Springs Montgomery Ink Series but can be read as a standalone. This was an amazing read one I finished in a day. Its filled with a lot of emotion and angst but also some very sexy stuff. Thea Montgomery is the third child of 4, she owns a bakery, Colorado Icing which is her baby. Thea has dedicated her whole life to making her bakery a success. Thea is in her 30's now and while her professional life is going according to plan her personal life leaves a lot to be desired, she has dated enough to know she has no luck in the men department. One chance meeting in an all night grocery store with her friend Molly's ex-husband has sent in motion feelings she should not be having. There are rules about this kind of thing and she is determined not to cross that line no matter how enticing he may be. Dimitri Carr is a high school math teacher, divorced and almost 40 years old. Marring young and having it not work out has been a drain on his spirits, divorce was not in his plans. The one high point of his marriage to Molly was adopting his Golden Retriever, Captain. Sad that Captain cant live with him full time until he finds some place he can afford and allows pets Captain is staying with Molly. Running into Thea at the grocery store awoke a side of Dimitri that has been dormant for along time. Navigating this situation is both confusing and sensitive. Dimitri and Thea are trying to figure out how to have a relationship that both of them want while being sensitive to Molly's feelings. Molly has given her blessing to them both but is seems to good to be true. This story is a prime example of "The heart wants what the heart wants" and sometimes we don't have any control over who we love. Kudos to Carrie Ann for taking a chance to write this story knowing it is a "taboo" situation.

Thea has made a success of the bakery that she owns but the same can’t be said for her personal life. After another date gone wrong Thea is about to give up on men until she runs into Dimitri. She and Dimitri have been friends for years however she introduced him to his now ex-wife and her best friend so since the divorce the relationship between them has been awkward. Dimitri is a tattooed teacher however he knows the two don’t necessarily fit so he doesn’t show his true self at the school. Not only did he lose his wife because of the divorce he lost most of his friends as well so when he runs into Thea he looks at it as an opportunity to renew the relationship they used to have. Their friendship evolves into something much deeper however when someone is trying to destroy what they have together will they be able to find out who is behind it before it is too late? I loved these two together as they just seemed to fit each other’s lives perfectly and in each other they have found what they have always been looking for and as s a bonus we get to catch with the Montgomery’s.

I knew the book was not going to be a favorite of mine when it began with Thea just having slept with Roger. It's a chapter long ordeal and as you know, I hate books where we see the hero or heroine sleeping or having slept with someone other than the other main character. The book just lost me as a reader there and I stopped reading it for a while. When I continued reading it, I just couldn't get invested in Thea and Dimitri's story. And speaking of sleeping with other people, we have Molly, Dimitri's ex and Thea's "best friend" appear too much in the story. I hated her and I don't feel like we got a satisfying enough explanation for her actions in this book. Also, did I miss the part where we find out how Thea's plan about expanding will happen? Roxie and Carter stole the spotlight and I am dying to read their book. In Restless Ink we are only teased about it and I want to see what made them have a strained relationship. Roxie never said anything about it to Thea and it got on my nerves in a good way. I would just love to see what was going on between her and her husband because you can see that Carter loves her a ton. Did they lose a baby or something as tragic? Are they just drifting apart? I don't know and I need to find out, The brightest spotlight was on Captain. I loved that dog, Thea loved the dog, Dimitri loved his dog. Everyone loved the dog. He had the best relationship with Dimitri. I hope we will see more of that canine in the future books. Another thing that was good was finding out that the author plans to write a series with Dimitri's family as the main characters. The universe is expanding even more and I am in for that! Overall, the book is not going to be one of my favorite books by this author. It made me think that we will always have an ex-wife/husband thing going on in the series and I am a fan of that idea, especially since Roxie and Carter are still married. I guess we will see what will happen next in the future books in the series. I would recommend it with some hesitation.

Emotional, sexy, fun, action packed romantic journey filled with laughter, uncertain friendships, forbidden attraction and yet completely irresistible passion.... loved every heart pounding moment. Thea Montgomery I adore her so much, she is sweet, sassy, smart, caring and loves to bake (so do I) ..... Dimitri Carr is also smart, sexy, charming and her best friends ex husband. Loved their obvious chemistry that blossomed out of a long time friendship that had a small break (the break up) in the road. Could not put this story down once I started reading, looking forward to more from this amazing and brilliant series.

Dimitri and Thea are just so perfect for each other. Dimitri is finally free from his wife. Now he's divorced and single. However, he is realizing that he has a thing for an awesome woman named Thea. The problem is Thea is his ex wife's best friend. Can these two make a relationship work even though they knew each other when Dimitri was married and Thea was the best friend? And don't forget you get to see some past Montgomery characters!!! Can't wait for the next book.

As always, Miss Ryan delivers with her trademark humor, heart, and hunky heroes. The Montgomeries are a family that the reader can’t help but love and want to follow. There may be a lot of novels and spin-offs, but each installment is just another great addition to a family that feels like old friends. Miss Ryan has proven herself a skilled writer. Besides creating lovable characters, they also feel real and personable. Their interactions with each are as humorous as they are heartfelt. But it would by a Carrie Ann Ryan book with the emotion. Overall, Restless Ink follows Ryan’s typical style: engaging interesting characters, a heartfelt plot driven by the characters, and enough steamy to satisfy their reader’s needs.

4.5 Stars! If you ever doubt Carrie Ann Ryan's powers as an author, then read this book! She has outdone herself with this amazing story! This friends to lovers romance had me at hello! Thea and Dimitri's relationship as friends was already solid, despite the fact that she is best friends with his ex-wife. Their banter and flirting was great, but when they get to the point they are finally ready to give in to their attraction... oh my goodness! It is perfection. And then, Ryan throws in the mother of all antagonists and what you get is an amazing book! I am going to say it... this is my favorite of all the Montgomery clan books... ALL of them! Amazing!

This is a wonderful read and an excellent addition to this series. The attraction and chemistry between Thea and Dimitri is powerful and sizzling. Theirs is a slow burning romance that is packed with intensity as there is so much drama and history that continues to complicate things. With a well developed plot, complex characters and strong emotions, this book should not be missed!

Have you read anything by Carrie Ann Ryan? Her Montgomery family is expansive and continues to broaden it's reach. Reading Restless Ink reminded me how much I love this family and their stories - and how behind I am on keeping up with them. This tale belongs to Montgomery sister Thea. She's got a thriving bakery business and isn't looking for love. Spoiler: it finds her anyway, and that's where it gets complicated. What happens when you unwillingly fall for someone who not only was once your friend, but was also married to one your friends? Things get messy, and not just because Thea is always covered in flour. I totally enjoyed this story. It moves at a good pace, has a great cast of strong, individual character voices and some really great love scenes. Dimitri is a genuine good guy, and who doesn't love a dedicated teacher who comes with a golden retriever named Captain? His siblings are going to get their own stories, and I'm pretty excited about that as well. My home state is Colorado and that probably doesn't hurt my attraction to these stories. :) If you need a new series to read, I'd highly recommend Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs. This is the second in the series (currently only three, while the original Mongomery Ink is substantially larger) but can definitely standalone if you aren't sure you want to get into the whole series.

Back in the Montgomery world and let’s just say there’s a lot going on. This is Thea & Dimitri’s story, and I loved how they came back together to rekindle their friendship, all while hoping for more. Nothing is ever easy, especially when friendship, ex’s and life are all around, but when you’re willing to fight, anything’s possible. Very much enjoyed this! Can’t wait for the next one!!

Thea and Dimitri stressed me out, but in a good way. I didn't see how they could make everything work, it seemed, at first glance, insurmountable. In the end, it really was quite simple, but then again, when things work out, that is usually the way. Also, I was so worried about Captain, that something bad was happening to him, I just couldn't have handled that. It doesn't appear that was the case, so I am super pumped about that too! Thea and Dimitri had been friends for years, but once he was over his divorce, there was a spark there that had never shown before. Trouble is, his ex is also one of her best friends. The ex seems okay with it though, so they keep exploring. Trouble is, not everything is at it seems, and some problems run deep and are hidden, even from the person involved. This was a different, and more suspenseful because of it. Not all solutions have easy fixes, but, love finds a way to keep our couple together and get their HEA!

I've loved every book I've ever read by Carrie Ann Ryan. Restless Ink was another great edition to the Montgomery family saga. I loved learning more about Thea. She has appeared in previous books but this time the book focused on her. I loved everything about her and her character is the type of person I'd want to know in real life. Dimitri was only briefly in the previous Colorado Ink book so all I knew was he and Thea were friends. Like many of CAR's hero's he is hot, family oriented ,tatted and the added twist of being a math teacher. I totally loved his character. Great characters, great story and full of family, friends and love...the perfect recipe for a romance.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book. I don’t know how many times I’ve said it, but I love this family!!!!!! Thea Montgomery is the head baker and owner of Colorado Icing and loves it. In her sister Addi’s book we learned that Thea’s best friend Molly and her husband Dimitri were divorcing. Thea was having a hard time because she was friends with both before they even got married and was finding it hard to stay that way after the divorce. Dimitri Carr a divorced tatted teacher and lets not forget he’s a HOTTIE!!! Oh and he loves dogs too!!! Lol. After seeing each other after again after her date from hell Thea has thoughts about him that she’s never thought before. In typical Montgomery fashion we have scenes that involve the Colorado Springs siblings. I absolutely love these, they show just how close this family is. Thea and Dimitri are so good that I don’t know why he even married Molly!! These guys should have been together before now, but maybe they weren’t ready to see how much more than friends they could be. As with a lot of Ryan’s books in the middle of couples falling in love there is also a lot going on in their lives else where. Thea’s in the middle of trying to finalize things in the next step for her bakery, Dimitri has the normal troubles that go along with being a teacher, and there is the drama that may or may not be coming from Molly Dimitri’s ex. Ryan never disappoints and always leaves you wanting the next story. The next Montgomery is going to be a doozy, but it will as always be well worth the wait.

This is book 2 in the Montgomery Ink Colorado Springs series. It can be read as a standalone but I would read the first one just so you can meet the characters and understand their relationships with each other. This one is about Thea Montgomery and Dimitri Carr. Thea is the baker in the family and tends to put all her time and effort into her bakery. To the point that her social life is struggling. Dimitri is a teacher who is still trying to get his life in order after his divorce. And although Thea is his ex wife's best friend, he also doesn't want to lose her or her friendship. But little do either of them realize how friendship can turn into something more. Nor do they realize how much they may have to go through in order to be together and be happy. I loved this book!! Thea is definitely a sweet woman who does what she can for her family and friends. Including choosing not to take sides when 2 of her friends get divorced. I love that about her! Dimitri, in my opinion, is entirely too nice and patient with his ex. But I can understand how he would be with how things are in the beginning. These two are super hot together and once they realize that not only are they friends but they truly love each other it is a beautiful thing! But Molly? Oh I couldn't stand her!! And what happened towards the end? I wasn't expecting that at all!!! This book kept me reading from start to finish and I didn't want to put it down for a minute! Now I need Roxie's story because those two are hiding something!

Carrie Ann always sucks me in! I loved every second and every word of this book. It truly helped me get out of a funk. The story of Dimitri and Thea is such a good one! I love that their tale is a complicated one, because those are always the best. From the very beginning Thea had me hooked, and it was cemented when we got introduced to Dimitri. The instant reaction of these two was fire!! I love that we got to see them in this light and we got to see their love grow. There were just so many layers of history between these two, that it just seemed like fate that they got together. And that curve ball!!!! Carrie Ann always knows how to throw the perfect curve ball! It helped create such a roller coaster to their story and really brought the families together. I can’t wait to read more about Carter and Roxie next!!

I absolutely loved this story!! It was very well written and I loved the friends to lovers story. This one has a twist though as Dimitri is divorced from one of her good friends. She was friends with both of them prior to them getting together and then through and after the marriage ended. It was an interesting twist on this. Thea never wants to step on the toes of her friend and so she is very conflicted about pursuing anything with Dimitri. Dimitri has been trying to break contact with his ex-wife but as he doesn't currently have a place to live that accepts dogs, Captain (his dog) is still at her place and so they have quite a bit of contact with that. I loved the connection that Dimitri and Thea had and the way that they went about the situation was great. They were aware of the potential issues and tried to keep communication open and real. The sex is explicit and fits the characters and the story. There is also a little bit of action and some intrigue going on. We know that something isn't quite right, something's just a little off but don't know how things connect. This story will definitely keep your attention as you read. Once I started it, I didn't want to put it down and it left me wanting Thea's sister's story very bad. I can't wait to read the next book! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Even though I've said it before (and I swear I say it every single time), every new Carrie Ann Ryan book keeps getting better and better. Which is crazy because I LOVE all of them. How is this even possible? The only thing I can envision is that meme making the social media rounds, Carrie Ann Ryan style. "This book was the best yet. There is no way Carrie Ann Ryan can top that." Then we see a picture of the author saying "hold my beer". Cheesy I know but that's why I'm writing reviews and not books. This book was phenomenal! I loved Thea and Dimitri. It was one of those stories where you can't read fast enough because you KNOW something is brewing but you don't know what. However, you don't want to read too fast because you want to savor every bit of it. It was great to revisit characters from past books although they do play a minor role so you don't have to read the books in order but Ms. Ryan keeps cranking out hit after hit so I highly recommend giving them a try. I cannot wait to finally find out what's happening between Roxie and Carter!

I love the Montgomery family! Restless Ink is a friends to lovers with a twist thrown in for good measure. I loved Dimitri and Thea and am glad we got their story. Can’t wait for Jagged Ink!
