Join countless other romance readers who have been captured, claimed, and seduced by Julianne MacLean's passionate and adventurous bestselling Highlander series.

Nothing means more to Scottish heiress Larena Campbell than saving her father from the gallows. While on an urgent mission to deliver his pardon from the King, she and her English escorts are attacked by a pair of fierce Scottish rebels. When she is dragged unconscious back to the stronghold of Angus the Lion, a powerful and dangerous Scottish laird, she is determined to escape at any cost...

Highland scout, Darach MacDonald, is suspicious of the beautiful and defiant heiress who clocked him in the head during the skirmish with the enemy Redcoats. He suspects she will stop at nothing to win her freedom-not even a manipulative seduction of his younger brother Logan. Fiercely protective of his brother, Darach volunteers to shepherd the heiress back to her home, but spending countless nights on the open road with a lassie as temptingly beautiful as Larena Campbell is enough to drive any hot-blooded Scot mad with savage desire. Suddenly he is overcome by a need to claim her as his own, but when they arrive at her father's castle, all may not be what it seems...

The wh ole book is absurd. The leading man trots through the woods after having being shot at. He finds himself in worse situation every time to the extent that you wonder how is going to get out of it, he doesn't. Instead a Hasty and is written.

This story is about Larena Campbell who has just secured her father's pardon from the English king's representative. Her father is the Campbell laird and is accused of being a Jacobite supporter and traitor to the crown. She is riding back to her castle when they are attacked by a band of misfits and the redcoats she is with are killed and she is injured by a bullet after which she falls down a ravine. Darach MacDonald and his brother Logan find her and take her back to their Laird's castle, Kinloch. When she comes to she is questioned by the Laird who then assigns Darach and Logan the task of escorting her to her castle. They have quite the journey as Darach is smitten with her although acts as though he hates her and Logan flirts with her but really wants to use her to get to her father who killed their father. It a rather twisted plot and takes a while to play out but she has made a deal to marry the English representative's son in exchange for her father's life. By the time they reach the castle Darach is in love with her and doesn't want her to marry Gregory. She feels she must so her father is spared, again a twisted tale that has an unexpected ending. It was a good story.

I love scottish romance novels and have read many of them that I absolutely loved. This one, however, wasnt all that great. To me the chemistry with the main characters was off. This book had the potential of being really good. But it was lacking.

Return of the Highlander has a compelling story and complex characters. It will leave you wanting to read the whole series to see how the character's lives intertwine.

Will give it three stars. Scottish romance is a much read genre for me,and although i liked this read, i too felt main characters lacked true chemistry for some reason. And perhaps just me but seemed like parts of the book were too rushed. Not sure i would read more of the series for now.

I really enjoyed the first three books in the series, but this book was a real disappointment. The characters are flat and the chemistry between the two main characters is nonexistent. The story was boring and tedious.
