This was such a fun book. I loved all the different types of dragons and Worm was just adorable. Reading it with my son was a ton of fun and he didn't want me to stop. While it is the start to a series, it does have its own story line and plot. It's just open enough at the end to let parents know there's more to the story (which I already ordered). *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

We struggle to get my almost second grader to read for fun. Then I discovered the various Branches book series. My daughter (who loved How to Train Your Dragon) devoured this book and asked me to buy all of the books in the series, and has been reading them all independently on her camp bus and before bed. She is a solid reader - this book has a nice balance of "easy" reading and "stretch" words.

When I get samples I get to read a few pages. This samples shows you the names of each chapter and that's it. Was going to let my son read a few samples before picking what book he wants, but I'm not even sure if this book is too hard for him because the isn't really a sample!
