Jennifer Chance’s Rule Breakers series turns up the heat as a wealthy playboy and a beautiful con artist engage in a high-stakes game of seduction.
As dominating in business as he is in bed, Rand Sterling Winston IV always gets what he wants. And even before he realizes that she’s scammed him into paying triple the cost for her friend’s painting, he wants Dani Michaels. To catch her alone, Rand demands that she personally deliver his purchase. The attraction between them is immediate and electric, and he knows she feels it, too. So when the part-time petty thief rebuffs his advances, he gives her a choice: a night in jail or an evening with him.
Despite her checkered past, Dani has never met someone like Rand: brooding, intense, and oh so tempting. Only a man with a broken soul could make control feel this dangerous. Still, when Rand proposes a no-strings, no-holds-barred affair, Dani’s more than a little intrigued. It’ll be the trickiest con she’s ever run and a chance to indulge her steamiest fantasies—nothing more. But as their encounters grow increasingly intimate, Dani uncovers a vulnerable side to Rand’s steely exterior and opens her heart to the ultimate risk.

I was really into the story, until the nightclub scene in Darke. The strong heroine turned into a weakling.

✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ FOUR-STAR ✩ REVIEW ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ⭐ ⭐ ARC was Provided by Netgalley in Exchange for an Honest Review ⭐ ⭐ Judging a Book by it's Cover: Male model, torso bared and centered. Title font is plain, the coloration is not exciting. Blurb is moderately interesting. Looking Deeper: Third-person POV. Rand is a blue-blood multi-millionaire who'd inherited the family company. Dani is a product of the system working odd jobs and the occasional con. They meet by chance and Rand is fascinated. He strikes up a proposition right when she needs cash most to help a loved one out of a serious financial bind. This was an odd-story.... he pays her to be at his back & call for thirty days. They continually are playing some twisted version of Truth or Dare while having an immature one-upmanship "game". Though both had crappy childhoods, he ended up as an elite one-percenter while she lived payday to payday. I did not feel a genuine connection between the two characters beyond the physical & even that was a little awkward at times. There were minimal secondary characters, from the snobby siblings and his receptionist, to her best artsy friend, shady boss, and distanced foster brother. They provided decent filler without taking over the plot. Conversations were usually smooth and believable and the character interaction was okay. The plot fell a bit flat to me, it all about the game & who's winning every time they were together that nothing felt genuine and real. It made me second-guess anything they had together the entire time. To me, the biggest conflicts in the book were Nell's condition and William's outcome, both of which played significant roles in the book, but neither of which were ever updated in the end. I believe an Epilogue would have helped make the story's conclusion feel stronger and more satisfying. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rating: [R] ~ Score: 3.9 ~ Stars: 4 -------------------------------------------------------------------------

4 star If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Rock It (Rule Breakers #1) Fake It (Rule Breakers #2) Want It (Rule Breakers, #3) This is Dani and Rand’s story. Dani will do anything for her foster brother.  Rand wants to break down all of Dani’s walls but is it just so he can move on after or stick around?  Can he get her to trust him?  Or will she be conning him the entire time?  Can he get her to accept his terms?  Who will be the first one to break the rules and risk it all? Who will come out the winner in the end will it be Dani, Rand, or the both of them?   I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.  I highly recommend this book, this series and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Okay...I'm having a tough time with this one. I hate giving it 2 stars, but that's just how it has to be. This book just wasn't for me, and that's the main reason for the low rating. The writing is good, so that wasn't it, and I liked the previous book in this series, Want It, so I do think the author's writing has an appeal. Just the whole premise wasn't something I enjoy, and once I got to that first club scene, where Dani works, and Rand came in for the first time in the story, acting the way he acted, that made me instantly dislike anything else in the story; it was tainted after that. The way Rand acted was enough to make me not like him, and Dani's reaction to those actions was very unpleasing to me. I was having an issue liking the characters from the beginning anyway, and this just made reading further a tough act; it was almost a DNF, but I hate not finishing a book, so I persevered and continued on; I did have to skim some of the story though. It's difficult to care anymore, when I don't like the characters too much, and the rest of the book is mainly sex scenes, which are mainly of the BDSM variety, and I actually don't mind that, but reading about characters, whom I don't care about, being intimate just doesn't do it for me. Dani being a con artist was a turn off for me as well. So it's tough for me to accurately rate this when I just don't like the story idea. I actually really enjoy alpha males, but not when they do what Rand did in that club. I think those actions just turned me off to the whole rest of the story, and that's a shame. The ending was nice enough, I would have liked a bit more ending, but I think it was good. This book is all about Dani and Rand's relationship, and not much else happens, this is definitely a sex driven book, and I don't mind books that are all about the relationship of the couple because it shows the way in which their connection grows, so I enjoyed that aspect, and I knew what was going to happen, but I didn't see very much growth in Dani and Rand. All in all, this just wasn't for me, I stopped reading motorcycle books because if the crud that the guys do in those books, and Risk It, wasn't that bad in that department, but I prefer books with guys who are alpha, but sweet. Okay, Okay, I ranted too much, but that just shows how much it influenced my view.

Fans of J.D. Robb's in Death series just might have found a new favorite author. I found a wonderful balance of witty comments, steaming sex and needed background story in this well written novel. It might be part of a series but can be read as a standalone without any problems. As mentioned both characters reminded me a lot of Eve and Roake the leads in J.D. Robb's Books and I mean that in the best possible way. Both stubborn, charming, lovable and still deep and burdened by their past. I am sure your gonna love that book - give it a try. > > > I have received this Book as an ARC from the Publisher < < < > > > In Exchange I promised an honest Review < < <

Wealthy businessman, Rand, wants Dani the moment he sees her. He always gets what he wants, but Dani may up the usual stakes and make it harder than it's ever been. Forever the con, Dani always wants to win, but so does Rand. They embark on a little cat and mouse game that will keep them on edge in more ways than one. Each part of the game will become intense, but neither of them are willing to back down. How far will it take them? Ms. Chance knows just how to make her Rule Breakers series hot! In Risk It, the stakes can be costly, the sex erotic at every turn. The hero and heroine try to distance themselves from getting too close, but they can't help but get closer as the sex gets more intense and their secrets begin to emerge. This keeps the story growing in intensity and has the reader on the edge, almost salivating for more erotic byplay between the hero and heroine. Ms. Chance's characters are deeply moving and highly sexual, the plots always exhilarating, and the character's interaction, extremely stimulating. I was thrilled to see Rand and Dani try to keep their feelings from becoming too intense, and got a kick out of them trying to one-up each other as their relationship progressed. Risk It was adorably funny and luxuriously erotic and I loved it! Don't miss this whole series! 5 Stars!

Overall Rating:  4.25 Rockin Stars Risk it is book four in the Rule Breakers series, by Jennifer Chance.  From the beginning of the novel, the characters are yet again ostentatious, charismatic, well developed, and everything that is expected from this author.  The plot has many twists and turns that will surprise and give the reader a feeling of erotic pleasure.     Dani Michaels is a con artist and a thief.  Not by choice, but by circumstance.  She has struggled all her life, being thrown from one foster family to another.  Dani is a survivor!  However, even with her harsh beginnings, Dani lives her life to the fullest.  Never too proud to do what's necessary to take care of her brother or help someone in need.  When she meets her latest would-be victim, Rand Sterling Winston IV, Dani's life begins to change.  She becomes the unwanted casualty of her own game. Rand Sterling Winston IV comes from old money.  He is the head of his family's security company in Boston.  Rand always gets his way, no matter the circumstances and he likes to play games.  His newest interest is Dani Michaels.  She conned Rand into buying a painting and paying way more than it was worth. With his interest piqued, Rand has to have her, dominate her in every way and then let her go.  That's his way, his game to play.  Little does he realize that Dani is more than just his newest conquest, she may be his final game. The game has begun, the trap set...ready, set, and match! If you want to read a book that will keep you on your toes to the very end, then this is the book to read!  It can stand alone, so there is no need to read this series in order.  However, because they are all great reads, it would be beneficial to read about all the other characters from the first three Rule Breaker books.  Jennifer Chance is a great author that has a wonderful sense of character development along with her creative story telling.  I enjoyed this installment of the Rule Breakers series. ***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***

This is the fourth book in the Rule Breakers series and a standalone book. Rand is a millionaire and bored. When Dani tricks him into purchasing a painting, he decides he must have her. They hook up for 30 days only with each trying to better the other. Such a HOT, steamy book with a HEA. *I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 Not sure what to make of the story, Stars This is the fourth book in Chance's Rule Breakers Series. Dani was the friend of Erin in the third book, but rest assured, this book can be read as a stand alone. Dani is a con artist and Rand is a mark. She was only trying to get more money for her friend Erin's painting and Richie Rich Rand was the perfect target. It appears Rand is taken with Dani immediately even if he doesn't act like it. There is a proposition along the way for 30 days of whatever Rand requests, it is not supposed to involve sex, and Dani gets one hard no. Confusing, I think yes. Now don't get me wrong the sex scenes are rather steamy but I just couldn't wrap my head around what was going on. Did they like each other? Was it just a game to see who would win and come out on top? I never really seemed to understand what Rand was after with Dani, and quite honestly I couldn't understand why. I get having an intense interest in someone and I get being totally in want of a person you meet the first time. Do I think that is worth huge sums of money in order to spend time with that person and push them beyond their limits, I'm not so sure. Since I couldn't wrap my head around what the two were doing with each other it was hard for me to wrap myself around the concept of the two as a couple. Attraction and chemistry, yes, they had that. There is the shared brokenness based on their pasts. Yet enough interaction which wasn't sexually based and enough inner dialogue given to explain the ending, there wasn't so much of that.  Despite my rant, I just couldn't help myself from wanting to find out what was gonna happen or why things were happening so I did read through the book pretty quickly, I'm just not sure I got any of my questions answered. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

There is no risk without reward.. ***A gifted copy was provided by NetGalley for my honest review**** Another great read in the Rule Breakers series. This is a story about Rand Sterling Winston IV and Dani Michaels. These are two very different people who definitely personifies the opposites attract theory for this story and how even though they are the exact opposite , they create sparks and that chemistry brings them together every time. Dani is a woman who happens to be a con artist. Her upbringing was so very rough. She had no one she could really depend on. She lives by her rules and follows her set of rules and lives only in the moment because that’s all she can do, because to live in the past can just bring heartache. Rand, aka “Mr. Richie Rich” is a control freak of a business man used to getting what he wants and he wants Dani. He feels she scammed him into paying triple the cost for her friend’s painting. Rand decided he now wants her but he knows he will have to work triple time to get her.  There is some drama and a lot of emotional upheaval by the messiness of Dani’s past but you can tell she does care for Rand and there is a lot of sexual tension between them. Also you could tell that no matter how many times Dani would run or back away, Rand would never give up. Rand was one great example of a great Alpha hero- the command that he had and the perfect mix of caring and love he had for Dani. Dani had that independent minx down to a T. She also gave off that wounded heroine that is great for these stories that make this such a wonderful story to read. The emotional twists and turns were here and the ending was fantastic. I cannot wait for read what is next for the next Rule Breakers series.  My rating: 4.5 stars ****

WOW! This one was not what I was expecting at all. It is definitely different from the others in the series. This book is wild and erotic with touches of bdsm. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone who enjoys their books a little on the steamy side. Dani is a grifter. Always looking for her next mark. When her sights land on Rand, she may have bitten off more than she can chew. Rand always get what he wants and he has decided he wants Dani, for thirty days. The relationship that develops is explosive!

When I offered to read and review this book I didn’t know it was part of a series.  It made no difference as far as I can tell.  This book stands and falls on its own.  I was looking for a hot sexy read and this book promised to fit the bill.  It is a hot sexy read.  Just not for me.  I am not a big fan of folks who play games.  These two damaged souls from opposite sides of the tracks have more in common than sex but I had a hard time getting into it.  This might be for you if you like dialogue driven give and take, spoiled rich boys and bad girls.   Complimentary copy provided by author/publisher for an honest review.
