Roaring Up the Wrong Tree by Celia Kyle

What should Trista do when faced with a hunky werebear who can't decide if he wants to kill her or screw her?

Half-hyena, Trista has spent years rotating between Grayslake, Redby, and Boyne Falls. When the Grayslake Itan-the local clan's werebear leader-orders a purge of all hyenas, she finds herself fighting to hold onto the hand-to-mouth life she's created. Her carefully built existence is threatened further when a gorgeous werebear strides into her life and demands not just her heart, but her very soul. She'll think about it, but not until her shift ends at seven.

Keen seems like a happy-go-lucky, sex-and-sin werebear, but that's nowhere near the truth. In reality, his inner-animal wants to go on a bloody rampage and kill half of Grayslake-just because it can. After that, it wants to claim the seductive, curvaceous half-hyena female Keen can't get out of his head. The animal doesn't care that most bears wouldn't mind a little hyena tartare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Nope, it peers at her through Keen's human eyes and has one thought: mate.

When push comes to shove, Keen has to decide if he would rather have the family he was born with, or Trista-the woman who makes him realize that true happiness comes in a lush, hyena-shaped package.

Enjoy the third book in the bestselling Grayslake series. This new BBW paranormal shapeshifter romance from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Celia Kyle is sure to secure a spot on your keeper shelf.

Bought it and read it yesterday. Outstanding! Just love the connection between Keen and Trista - how powerful and lasting it was. They both supported and accepted support from each other. I was along for the ride - enduring their pressures and sighing when something went right. I was kinda hoping they went for the other option at the end of the story but can see how they would want to make it work with the choice they made. They deserve their HEA and I'm glad they got it despite the deck being stacked against them. I definitely agree it's the best in the series...so far.

I love the couple and the world building. I love the culture of bear and hyena.  However, the motivations of the secondary characters which really control the plot of the book make little sense. Such rabid and hate and quick turn arounds Heroes from past books behaving very badly.  I enjoyed the romance  and the lead characters are well developed and engaging but these other elements not so much

Celia Kyle never fails to deliver steamy, but now she's perfectly nailed tearjerker as well! This is Keen's book and with it comes the revelation that the happy-go-lucky man of the previous books is all an act. When he meets Trista, they both fall hard and fast but there are some serious obstacles to their HEA. Can't explain more than that without possibly spoiling the book because it starts snowballing about 20 pages in. Loved it! And definitely loved the fleshing out of this particular world. As for the one who didn't understand why Trista & her mom stayed, it was explained as being because of a custody law. Her father basically didn't want her to leave his clan's power (and wasn't that a doozy when everything came out!?). Which leaves a couple of unanswerable questions floating about...

Loved it! But then again I didn't expect anything less from her. This is a great series and this book was no exception. It has a great cast of charactors and the story keeps your emotions all over the place.

This book can be read standalone but I recommend you read the first two No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It and All Roar and No Bite first so you understand the undercurrent between the brothers, their wives and Keen. Is it worse to have been raised in a single parent home in poverty surrounded by hate but rich in love or raised with wealth and both parents but be all but invisible?  This is the background these characters come from.  What matters is not where you came from but how you go forward.  The past has made these two characters Trista and Keen strong and perfect for each other.   I really enjoy this series and have to say that this is my favorite of the three.  I was so involved in the story that I wanted to reach out and b**ch slap Van on more than one occasion.

Finished this book all in one sitting. (And, for a mother of 2 young children that is not an easy thing to do!) I was simply pulled in and loved this story from start to finish. Usually a series starts off on a high note and ebbs and flows from there. But, I have to say, I think this is the best book in the series so far! I was so invested in the two main characters, I was tied up in knots wondering how things would work themselves out. I would recommend this series and author to just about anyone who like this genre! Celia Kyle is a auto-buy for me and will be for you once you start reading her books!

I Hate when an author takes the hero/heroes from a series and turns them in to jerks. Ty was made to look like an incompetent Itan and terrible brother. Van was made to look worse by doing unforgivable things to Keen. And Reid was the worst! I no longer want to read his book. Terrible

Definitely buy this book. The love between Keen and Trish was awesome. Give me a Keen any day. He was 100% in from the get go no matter what she was or wasnt. He defended her to the end. Just so loving. The tie between them both as they struggled against the past and present was so well written and they overcame every battle as one strong couple. That said, I did have trouble accepting that certain people were willing to kill and wanted to kill an innocent female regardless of what her family ties were. I mean really? This little tiny frightened woman surrounded by massive bears ready to tear her apart...pretty much through the whole book was heart breaking and left me with a sour stomach of anger and I have to say I will never like certain characters again based on the need to kill a female innocent. Which truly is ashame because I liked their characters in previous books. I have a feeling one of those individuals may eventually have a story of their own and unfortunately, if they do I wont want to read it as opposed to hoping he would have is own story from reading the last book. He ruined his character for me, he wanted her dead period and set up her death and she was totally innocent and they absolutely knew it. I guess its a bears world, but then in the wild I wonder if they would just steal the women of their enemies instead of kill them. The human in us I guess. Despite my personal opinion, because thats all it is, this book was so incredibly well written, and if you want to feel anger and betrayal not between keen and trish but family betrayal, and amazing love, then this is definitely your book.
