Robert Burns - Nature
This book looks at 12 works written by Robert Burns, which were inspired by Nature.

We look at the works themselves, give a modern translation of each one and look at when, where and possibly, why they were written. This gives you quick, easy to understand information about Burns - so that you can surprise your friends with your "in-depth knowledge."

One of the biggest problems with reading Burns poetry is the language he used, specifically the scots words and dialects, which can be difficult to understand. To help with this there is a full modern English translation of each poem directly after the original poem. There is also an extensive glossary of scots words and their modern English equivalent included.

This is the second book in the "Enjoying Robert Burns" series. The first book is: Robert Burns - Women

About the Author

Who is Alastair Turnbull ?

I am a very happily married Scotsman in his late forties with two daughters, who loves traveling the globe and tasting the best Whiskies, Craft beers and wines the world has to offer.

I work mainly as an Audio Visual Technician / Technical Production Manager for conferences, events and road shows. If you have no idea what this means just think of me as a sort of "Corporate Roadie". The big difference between me and a normal roadie is I work with blue chip companies, not Rock 'n' Roll bands. Over the years I've also worked with a lot of large, quality drinks producers and this is how I started learning about the huge amount of diverse drinks that are out there, and the extraordinary effort that goes into making some of them.

I learned, tasted and saw so much, (a lot of the time directly from the distillers, wine makers and brewers themselves), that I just had to write about it. That is how my web site TheDrinkingMansGuideToScotland was born, its still live and has lots of videos and reviews - if you fancy a visit.

One of my other great passions is Robert Burns, I love the poetry, the songs and the stories about the man himself. He is such a well known character the world over and a great ambassador for Scotland. Unfortunately the language he used can be difficult to understand, which puts a lot of people off reading his work. This is the reason I started to write about Burns, I wanted to make it much easier for people to understand and appreciate his work. There is so much more to Burns than just "The Ploughman Poet", read the books and find out more.......

I've recently been travelling further and further abroad with work and have become quite obsessed with toasting in different countries, (and toasting in general). There is a lot of "research" to be done, but I'm enjoying it. Expect a toasting book some time soon.......
