About the Author

KEN MANSFIELD’s legendary career in the music industry began as a member of the Town Criers, a successful southern California folk group in the early 1960s. From there he moved to executive tenures as US manager of The Beatles’ Apple Records and, director at Capitol Records, vice president at MGM Records, and president at Barnaby/CBS Records. As a record producer, he was instrumental in launching country music’s "Outlaw" movement in the 1970s, producing Waylon Jennings’ number-one 1975 landmark recording, Are You Ready for the Country, and Jessi Colter’s number-one hit "I’m Not Lisa." Ken also produced the Gaither Vocal Band’s 1991 GRAMMY and Dove Award–winning Homecoming album, which also launched another historical movement, the resurgence of Southern gospel music via the Gaither Homecoming series of recordings, videos, and concerts. Ken is now an ordained minister, a sought-after speaker, and the author of four other books: The Beatles, The Bible and Bodega Bay; The White Book; Between Wyomings; and Stumbling on Open Ground. He and his wife Connie currently reside in Florida.

MARSHALL TERRILL is a veteran film, sports, and music writer and the author of nearly twenty books, including best-selling biographies of Steve McQueen, Elvis Presley, and Pete Maravich. Three of his books are in development to be made into movies. Terrill resides in Tempe, Arizona, with his wife, Zoe.

This beautifully packaged book takes a fascinating look inside the hearts and minds of men and women who have stood before stadium sized crowds and soaked up the roaring praise of fans and followers. But this is not the part that makes this book so exciting. It's when they withdraw to the backstage part of their lives and go to their knees and praise God for His redemption and deliverance from a painful life of false hope and decadence. The stories range from raw to touching - some are shockers and some have a sense of quiet victory as their testimonies reveal super star accomplishments and small sized humility. Written in a chapter a night format, which lets the reader savor these insightful journeys for almost two weeks.   I'm surprised someone hasn't approached this subject before.   Get ready for fresh, new and exciting reading from a pairing of unique authors who bring great credibility to these tales.

I have to say that Rock and a Heart Place is indeed a rollercoaster ride. This books reels in the years of iconic Rock and Pop acts and of the musicians who took them to the top of the charts. It's a portal in time, taking you to places never before known by fans. More than anything, it is an extremely inspiring read as chapter after chapter brings the realization that no matter how high on a pedestal or how low in the depths of despair this life can take us, there is a greater calling and purpose that rests in the hands of our Lord - we just need to concede that He is always there by our side and He loves everyone of us. You don't have to be a star of the arena stage or global airwaves to find Him. Ken Mansfield and Marshall Terrill remind us through these vivid stories of passion and faith that sweet salvation is a gift we can all claim. I absolutely love this book!
