I'm not usually too terribly fond of kids featured in my romance books (don't judge me!), and holiday-themed stories don't often capture my interest. Until I read this book, that is! What a delightful book this turned out to be. I enjoyed all the characters, but I especially loved Camille. I loved her total dorkiness. Being one of the dorky smart kids in school myself, I felt an affinity for Camille. I also share her hatred of crowds, so it was easy to relate to her. I found her comments extremely funny. I also totally adored her relationship with Steve. He had a bit of bashful dorkiness to him, despite his heroic nature and good looks. The shyness at the beginning of their romance rang true, as did their playfulness and laughter in bed and when snuggling. I also liked all the kids, which is rare for me in books except for an occasional book here and there. Not having kids myself, I don't know how true to life they were; they seemed to get along ridiculously well and were all very good kids. But they were entertaining and sweet and you just want to hug them all. The setting of the story was all very perfect for a Christmas. It seemed like a holiday paradise. There was also some suspense in this book. I thought it was just too obvious who the "bad" guy was. Yeah, right. I was totally wrong and ended up being very surprised, which added to my enjoyment. Throw in a cat, horses and a goat, and we had the perfect cast. I so look forward to more books in this series. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley. I was not compensated for my review, and my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

5 star review of Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas (Rocky Mountain Cowboys #1) by Katie Ruggle Katie Ruggle is a new author to me and I have no idea why that is. I loved her style of writing, her characters and the story line. I loved this book. From the first to the last chapter I just loved everything about single dad Steve Springfield and Camille Brandt both separately and together. This was a slow burn romance, that built throughout and had me cheering when Steve and the socially awkward Camille, finally got together . Steve’ s children almost stole the book from Steve and Camille, they had some great lines which had me racking up. The love they had for each other and their siblings was heartfelt. I love the Christmas season and this book certainly got me in the spirit. I will be looking at other books by Katie Ruggle ASAP and cannot wait to see what she has in store for this series.

I loved the characters in this book. I found myself smiling as I read. When I finished I went online and ordered the rest of her books. I have since read two more and enjoyed them very much, but I think this one was my favorite.

Katie Ruggle puts together beautiful stories, with so many great moments in her romantic suspense books, that I can't put them down until the very last page. Doing the best he can while raising his four children, Steve and his kids are missing something, and Camille just might be that something when she becomes a part of the family due to a tragedy. Well written page turner that can be read as a standalone, the surprises just keep coming as you read and try to figure out what will happen next to Steve, Camille and family. Steve has been in the background of previous stories in the K9 Rocky Mountain Series, but in this one, Steve will get his HEA when his family becomes complete with Camille. Looking forward to reading more of the series, I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for gifting me "Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 5 Stars!

Camille and Steve-freaking-Springfield's story was absolutely delightful. You've got to love when the socially awkward, almost-a-hermit heroine manages to snag her high school crush at last, amirite? Especially when he's a firefighter single dad who sells Christmas trees...more than one character accuses him of near perfection, and they're not wrong. I mean--he is Steve-freaking-Springfield... Though kids in romance novels sometimes can come off as little more than plot devices, but not the Springfield siblings. Ms. Ruggle has given each of them their own quirky personality (including a socially awkward artist son who not only "gets" Camille, he also points out to his father when he's inadvertently making her life slightly hellish), which made every time one or all of them showed up on the page so. Much. Fun. And not just because you got to witness Steve's parenting style, which isn't perfect but is earnestly endearing. And OMG, Zoe's tendency to blow things up in her workshop...so funny. Honestly, probably 99% of the times I LOLed while reading this one, it was because of one or more of the kids. (And at least 5% of those also involved bacon...) The only part of the story I'm still on the fence about is the suspense portion--I can honestly say that the "whodunit" took me completely by surprise. Which is good...? I even went back, searching for their name using the find function o my ereader to see if there were clues that I'd missed (I mean, maybe kinda sorta there were?) and I still don't know. So...though I did like the drama and danger it introduced, I'm still not sure what to make of the outcome. That will not, however, keep me from snapping up the rest of this series as fast as Ms. Ruggle can write them. I mean, Rocky. Mountain. Cowboys. Plus, surely Steve and Camille and Will and Micah and Zoe and Maya will show up, right? ;) Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Explosive chemistry, family camaraderie and a surprise twist you won't expect! With the kick off of a new Rocky Mountain Cowboys series, Katie Ruggle introduces us to the Springfield family and the Colorado town where they reside. The characters are well developed, and the plot has an air of excitement to it as we follow along with the couple as they start a relationship with each other. The surprise twist sort of takes you aback, and the ending and culmination of it all is rather quick and unexpected. Overall, a solid read! When firefighter and single dad moved his four kids back home to his family Christmas tree ranch in Colorado, he was expecting a low key lifestyle. Instead, he's getting a sudden life filled with chaos! Kids going this way and that, brothers pestering him, mysterious fires popping up, and low and behold the one girl from his youth that he could never forget! Artist Camille Brandt enjoys her quiet life as the resident weirdo. She's socially awkward and keeps to herself as much as she can get away with, but there's something about Steve and his kids that bring out a side of her that she's not all that familiar with. A nurturing, loving the family life warm side! As they put up the good fight of attempting to fight their attraction for one another, Steve and Camille figure out that danger is near, they just don't know who or why!

In the heart of the Rockies In the arms of a cowboy One white Christmas can change everything. When firefighter and single dad Steve Springfield moved his four kids to a Colorado Christmas tree ranch, he intended for it to be a safe haven. But he never expected danger to follow them to his childhood home... Or that he would come face-to-face with the one girl he could never forget. Folk artist Camille Brandt lives a quiet life. As the town's resident eccentric, she's used to being lonely--until Steve freaking Springfield changes everything. Brave and kind, he's always had a piece of her heart, and it doesn't take long before she's in danger of falling for him and his rambunctious kids. But as mysterious fires break out across the sleepy Colorado town, Steve and Camille will have to fight if they want their happy family to survive until Christmas... Review: Great start to a new series and a great introduction to this new-to-me Author. Perfect story to get you in the mood for the holiday season to come. The story is a little fun, a little heart-warming, a little action packed and a little mystery. I know that is a lot for a story to encompass, but the Author does a great job of blending all those elements into a romance that left me feeling very satisfying after reading. I liked that Camille and Steve are not your typical romance hero and heroine. Both have pasts and idiosyncrasies to make them very interesting to read about. I loved the cast of secondary characters too, from the brothers, neighbors and Steve's kids. I really was not sure who was stalking Camille, so kudos to the Author for keeping me guessing. Again, very enjoyable story to read and a great starting off point for me with this Author. I am not sure where the series is going next, but I will be waiting for the story. 4Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the publisher.*

The first book in the new Rocky Mountain Cowboys series by Katie Ruggle is a thrilling and sweet romance that captivates readers from beginning to end. Steve and Camille are strong characters that easily draw readers to them as well as fascinating them with their romance. The sparks fly from first contact, the romance is sweet and full of emotional turmoil as Camille bravely tries to interact with Steve, his kids and his brothers in order to give their attraction a chance. This vulnerability speaks to readers and tugs at heart strings while they cheer Steve and Camille toward their happily ever after and well the kids adds their own special brand of happy to the story while capturing hearts as well. The story has a steady to fast pace that keeps anticipation building throughout with small details that show that there is a danger to Camille, but the danger isn’t obvious which adds to the thrilling expectation of the story and keeps readers on the edge of their seats. There is a stunning betrayal and surprising twist that makes the suspenseful climax even more exciting and the whole holiday atmosphere of the story adds spice and goodwill to the story as the couple try to keep their family alive until Christmas. I was completely enthralled with the Springfield brothers and their holiday business and ranch combination and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Note: While this is loosely tied to Ruggle's Rocky Mountain K9 Unit (Steve was a firefighter in Monroe) but other than realizing that some pretty bad things happened there this one pretty much stands on its own. I absolutely love Steve & his kids and how they accept & understandd Camille.  She also brings her own unique views to this lovely family, adding a little softness that they all needed.  It's sweet, heartwarming, and absolutely hilarious because she's so awkwardly endearing when it comes to falling for Steve.  They made me giggle so many times :)  And his kids are just so darn adorable - smart, precocious, and brilliant.   There is a bit of danger in the story but it doesn't take central stage.  Instead Ruggle makes sure to tie it in just enough to remind you that there is a bad guy out there but not enough to take away from all of the important emotional moments and the bonding between Camille & the Springfields.   **Review given honestly and freely after receipt of a reader copy. This opinion is completely my own and was not influenced in any way.**

I enjoy Kate Ruggle which is why I asked for this arc. I almost passed on it as my brain is full of cowboys and I need a respite. I am thrilled I asked and received this arc. The romance was sweet, and I could see the story. I felt like I was there. I wanted to smack the busy body neighbor. Kudos to Camille her humor and dealing with it; I knew who the culprit was at his first appearance. It threw me off, I thought no way. Love. love, love the kids. I want to meet them all. Read the book, indulge in Christmas, support the introvert. Thank you Sourcebooks and NetGallley for the opportunity to read this arc. I voluntarily leave this review and all opinions are my ownwn.

I received a free advanced copy of this book from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review. This is a delightful read, with a lighter tone than the few other books that I have read by the author. After many years, widower Steve returns to the family Christmas Farm with his four children, seeking them a safe haven. He has been a fireman and part of Search and Rescue in the other small towns that he has lived in. Dangers that his family faced in those small towns were eluded to, but never explained to the reader who has not read all the previous books or doesn't remember. Camille Brandt grew up in Brandt Montana, shy and awkward, after her mother died and she came to live with her grandmother at six years old. She has grown up to be a talented metal and woodwork artist, but socially inept adult. When her neighbor reports her missing, Search and Rescued is called out and she is found by "Steve-freaking-Springfield" her high school crush. Although they were three years apart, he was always extremely kind to her and her hero, her favorite of the four handsome Springfield boys. When she brings some of her artwork to the Farm store for them to sell, she meets his children and immediately bonds with them. But as in many of Ruggle's books, there is a menace threatening her. The characters are so appealing and the dialogue so light and witty, that at first it does not seem like a Ruggle Montana book. But the danger and intrigue sneak in there. Although there was a hint of who the "mystery man" is, there were also several red herrings to throw the reader off track.

I enjoy reading Katie Ruggle's books. She has well-developed characters and strong storylines. This one does not disappoint. The banter between the characters is fun and the setting being Christmas makes this a really good read.

If you have't read Katie Ruggle you are missing out. Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas will put you in the holiday spirit even while you are trying to figure out who is trying to kill Camille Brant. This book has heart and soul mixed in murder and family. Its the perfect blend for a night in next to the fire. Steve Springfield moves from Monroe (Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit Series) to his childhood home to find a better place for his growing kids. Katie is about to combined the humor of family, the spirit of Christmas and a mystery that will keep readers wanting more as they close the book. Katie Ruggle is about to bring mystery, suspense, romance all the while create a series that will have readers once again hooked line and sunk. Sorry Husband of mine I am going to be buying another can't miss series by now new Favorite Author. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advance copy of Katie Ruggle Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas

Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas by Katie Ruggle Rocky Mountain Cowboys #1 Competitive siblings – brothers – the Springfield boys were just that but as adults that should all be behind them, right? Perhaps not. When Steve returns to the family Christmas tree ranch with his four children and is called out on a search and rescue mission he is first to find Camille Brandt, local artist and shy eccentric. The fact that perhaps she was not really “lost” and is very nervous at the attention leads Steve into taking the spotlight off of her in his own way. Camille creates sculptures using found metal and seems rather awkward with most adults though a bit easier with children. She ends up taking some of her sculptures to sell at the gift shop that is part of the Christmas tree ranch and meets Steve’s oldest son, Will. She then meets the rest of his children and enjoys spending time with them. She soon finds she is not as awkward with Steve and his children as with other people and their relationship (he’s a widow) takes off. Throw into the story a peeping tom with an agenda, competitive brothers, Christmas events, some animals and a fun romance and you have a wonderful story that left me with a smile on my face. I love this author and know that when I see her name a quality book will be provided for me to read. Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks-Casablanca for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4-5 Stars

Another great read from Katie Ruggle that had a wonderful romance wrapped in a great mystery/suspense. I just loved Camille. She was definitely not your typical heroine - she’s quirky, very shy, and tends to be a bit socially awkward. She’s not had an easy time of things growing up and has always found solace in her art. It was fun to see her lose her cool when she runs into “Steve freaking Springfield” as an adult – she had a big crush on him in high school and she’s not quite sure what to do with that awareness now that he’s back in town, and she really finds herself quite a bit out of her comfort zone every time she’s around him. But boy did I love seeing her find her way as their friendship begins and then blossoms into a romance, all while she has a chance to get to know his kids and build relationships with them as well. Steve “freaking” Springfield was just such a wonderful hero. I loved the bit parts that he played in the authors “Rocky Mountain K9 Unit” and was so happy he was going to get a chance to find his own HEA – even if that meant returning home to give his family the safety and security they needed to thrive. He was so great with his kids – being a single dad he didn’t always have it easy when dealing with his kids, but he always seemed to find a way to give all his kids just what they needed. I really enjoyed the family aspect of the book and loved having Christmas woven into the story line. From getting to see the family’s Christmas tree ranch in action to Camille’s featuring her work in the gift shop, there was such a cozy holiday theme throughout the book. The Springfield family is close and I really just loved all of Steve’s kids. Although I loved how the danger and mystery in the book brought Camille and Steve together, and there was definitely the level of action and suspense I expect from a Katie Ruggle book, my only complaint would be was that I wasn’t entirely thrilled with the ending. I think things tied up a bit too quickly and without enough detail, but I’m hoping that the rest of the series will help fill in some of the blanks for me. Katie Ruggle has quickly become one of my go-to authors when I need an action packed romantic suspense read and I really love the start to this new series. I’d definitely recommend this book to any romance or mystery reader.

The story missed the mark. Repetitive dialogue which was boring to begin with. Stupid characters. Not her best.

Katie Ruggle excels at building fun characters who live on the edge of society. Those oddball characters that are slightly dorky and immediately endear you to them. Camille Brandt has always had trouble talking to people. She second guesses what she should say and do in social situations so tries to avoid them as much as possible. When Steve Springfield moves back to town with his four kids, Camille’s crush from high school immediately blooms again. Watching her face her struggles trying to speak normally made Camille so identifiable. Who hasn’t felt like that at one point in their life? I rooted for her so hard! You may recognize Steve Springfield from the Search and Rescue series. He’s a firefighter and was always in the story but on the peripheral. It was so nice to get to know him and all of his kids! I know the Rocky Mountain Cowboy series will probably be about all of Steve’s brothers, but I want some YA books about Steve’s kids. They were so fun and unusual. Zoe is an inventor- blowing things up occasionally, Micah is the hermit artist, Will the adopted joyful oldest son, and Maya the youngest and sweetest little thing. Seriously these kids rocked and need their own stories! Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas was a great start to this series. Katie Ruggle has proven herself again with some great characters, a solid love story, and of course she throws in just a hint of danger adding that tension that works so well in her novels. This was my first Christmas novel of the year and even though we are only approaching October, I was in the Christmas spirit right away. I was given an ARC of this novel for my honest review and it was honest!

Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas by Katie Ruggle is the first book in her new Rocky Mountain Cowboy series. This is a spinoff from Ruggle’s other two series, Search and Rescue; and Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas was a sweet Christmas romance. Camille Brandt, our heroine, is eccentric and a loner. The townsfolk know Camille doesn’t like to be around people, and only goes into town to shop or sell her artistic creations, which are beautiful masterpieces, and she uses scrap metal for her creations. Steve Springfield, our hero and fireman, returns home to the family ranch, with his four children, after his wife died. When Camille sees him, she is flustered, since she remembers him from high school, and he is even hotter than she remembers. Camille doesn’t know how to act, especially with her social awkwardness. She begins to slowly change and become more comfortable when she meets Steve’s kids, who were all interested in Camille and her designs. She finds herself falling hard for the kids, not to mention Steve. Steve was the perfect sweet hero, who was able to begin to bring Camille out of her shyness. There was also a cute cat that was a big part of the story. Though this is a wonderful romance, there is an added element of mystery, as someone is creating fires; first at Camille’s home, and then at Steve’s house, where Camille was staying until she found a new place to stay. Who is stalking Camille and why? I thought Steve and Camille were great together, and loved how slowly Steve won Camille over, and she began to open up more with others, and the kids, whom she loved. The ending was somewhat exciting, as Camille tries to save herself and the kids. I will say that I wasn’t crazy about learning the identity of the culprit, but I do look forward to the next book in this series to find out more. Katie Ruggle once again gives us a wonderful fun story, sweet romance, great characters and a bit of a mystery. I strongly suggest you read Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas.

Widower and fire-fighter Steve Springfield returns home to Borne, Colorado with his four kids to live at his family's Christmas Tree ranch and store with his three brothers. His first call out is for a missing person, Camille Brandt, a girl he recalls vividly from school. Camille isn't lost at all, she's foraging in a local scrap heap for metal to use in her art, a socially-awkward loner who avoids people she can't think of anything worse than being gawked at by a whole crowd of search and rescue teams, until Steve freaking Springfield, her high school crush, takes the heat by pretending to get his foot stuck in the scrap. But mixed in with the burgeoning romance is a mysterious shadowy figure and a spate of fires ... This was great, a holiday romance which was just the right level of cute (brilliant, cute kids, Christmas Tree farm, sleigh rides, home-made soup) without being sickly or cloying, to be honest right up until the end it didn't even feel very Christmassy. The suspense was good and I was cleverly misdirected. As befits a holiday novel (and a single father of four teenagers) the smexy times were rare and air-brushed. Overall, loved it, although I don't think I would classify this as a cowboy novel, but that's semantics. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Katie Ruggle has started a new series with a romantic suspense that will keep you wondering, a hero that is so fricken sweet and a heroine that really needs a keeper. Add in four kids you just want to hug and you have this terrific Christmas time tale. I will tell you I was totally surprised to find out who the bad guy was. I look forward to more Rocky Mountain Cowboys.

Christmas, the time for miracles, magic and feel good reading! Katie Ruggle’s ROCKY MOUNTAIN COWBOY CHRISTMAS is all that and more as one eccentric hermit finds her heart burning brightly for a widowed firefighter and his wickedly amazing kids! Do you like a read that gives you a little mystery along with the light-hearted moments? You’ll love the awkward flirting, the hit and miss kisses and the warmth of one very protective man who has found his second chance at a forever love right in his own backyard. In case you might think Steve isn’t so unique, meet his kids and marvel at who they are, and the support they receive from a man who is unsure of his parenting skills! Instant heartstring tugs there! Camille is as quirky as she is socially inept, but together, these two are like a hand and glove! Get that holiday romance reading line up going, and put this one at the top of the list! I received a complimentary ARC edition from Sourcebooks Casablanca!

I have been impatiently waiting for a book about Steve Springfield since we saw him in the Search and Rescue series of books along with the quick glimpse in the K9 series as well. I am so glad that we get his book now. Steve has moved home to his family's Christmas tree Ranch in Colorado in the hopes it will be a safer environment for his 4 children. After the last couple of towns had some major issues he just wants his kids to be somewhere he knows they will be safe. He never expected to run into a girl he knew (and liked) from high school. Or to still feel a pull towards her. Camille Brandt is a folk artist and what most of the town consider an eccentric and strange. She's used to being alone and having people think she's weird. Meeting Steve again starts to change things for her though. And being around his kids changes things even more. Neither one will guess just how much their lives will change, or what they will have to go through in order to be together. I loved this book!! I was truly hoping that when he got a book it would do him justice and boy did this book do that for me! Both of these characters are great! Steve is one of those strong, loyal, loving and yet protective men who aren't afraid to step in do what needs doing. Even when he isn't sure or if he is scared he is completely wrong, he still tries and does a dang good job of it too! Camille is definitely different but she just fits with not only Steve but his kids as well. They compliment each other in ways that you wouldn't expect but makes you keep reading long past the time you should be sleeping LOL! I couldn't put this book down once I started it. And then you throw in the twists that are in it. I definitely didn't expect any of what happens to be caused by who it is! This book makes me hope we get books for his brothers and then maybe his kids when they are grown! Loved it!!

Having read all of Katie Ruggle's books, this is my favorite. This one takes a slight step away from the suspense angle and gives us a pretty straight up romance with just a touch of suspense. The two lead characters Camille and Steve are delightful and charming. It is so nice to have a straight-up bad-ass guy be so kind and thoughtful. Camille is very uncomfortable around people and it is her relationship with Steve and his children that opens the world up to her. We have met Steve and his 4 kids in previous novels so it was great that they finally got their HEA. The kids were so well written, their personalities shown and you wanted to know them. That is really hard to write. Camille's social anxiety was a large part of the story and it was never downplayed. Steve and Camille did not rush the relationship which to me makes it seem right for such a socially challenged woman. The main strength of this novel was the characters they were just a delight to read about. This was a lovely read with a Christmas theme, but the true story was about two lonely people finding each other, and the interesting characters who surrounded them. Received as an ARC from Netgalley.

My Review: I received a complementary copy of this book, the following is my honest opinion. As you all probably know, I have been obsessed with Katie Ruggle's books since discovering them last spring. I wasn't sure what was next after reading the final book of the K-9 Unit series, but I am thrilled that we have the start of a new series. Not only do we have a new series but it kicks off with Steve, who has been a minor side character through both series so far, and we get cowboys! We are also introduced to Camille and I immediately related to her, she suffers from social anxiety and I definitely get it, especially around the holiday season. As with Ruggle's previous books we get a bit of romance and some serious suspense and danger. I loved the family and close knit community feel combined with all the Christmas vibes, it really got me ready for the holiday season, and more in this series!

Romance and suspense intertwined with fun, engaging dialogue Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas is another great read by Katie Ruggle. Eccentric artist Camille Brandt lives a quiet life. Socially awkward she's happy to avoid most people in her quiet Rocky Mountain town but her nosy neighbor refuses to be one of those people. Fortunately the nosy neighbor meddling leads us to Camille's old high school crush Steve "freaking" Springfield! He's a handsome, strong and kind Cowboy who is back in town to live on his family ranch with his 4 kids years after losing his wife. Steve and Camille's initial encounters are fun and awkward. Katie Ruggle's engaging dialogue will at times have you laughing out loud. Keeping you on the edge of your seat with not only blossoming romantic intrigue but some mysterious fires will also keep you guessing until the end (okay maybe the middle). With a interesting mix of characters, Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas is a nice read with a few twists, lots of endearing moments and enough romance to keep you interested from beginning to end. Read it twice already and highly recommend!
