How far will he go to protect his mother's legacy? As Prince Gian-Paulo Montovanni's thirtieth birthday approaches, the paparazzi are hounding him to marry and put his pleasure-seeking days behind him. But before he can propose to any of the women vying for his attention, he must locate a precious family heirloom—his mother's beloved emerald necklace—stolen in a blackmailing scheme twenty years earlier. No Montovanni bride-to-be has ever gotten engaged without it, forcing Gian-Paulo to collaborate with an American jeweler who's replicated the necklace in elaborate detail, a secretive woman who knows the location of the original. Luring his quarry to Italy to finalize the deal, Gian-Paolo is not above participating in wicked deceptions to get what he wants. Is she Fit for a Princess?Abandoned by her mother as a child, Carolina Beugre sought haven with her uncle, a renowned and respected jeweler. Passionate about gemstones, she attends a prestigious university with plans to open a jewelry shop in downtown Atlanta one day. Lenox Street is high end, the perfect place to sell her creations to wealthy clientele, but the property is expensive. To finance her store, she agrees to sell Grace, the twenty-carat emerald necklace she recreated from one of her uncle's silent auction pieces. The exchange is scheduled to take place on a tiny provincial island during a masque ball. What happens next leads to a fake betrothal, kidnapping, and an emotional roller coaster that nearly strips away everything Carolina has worked so hard to achieve—including what she knows about herself.

About the Author
Katherine Bone has always had an adventurous streak, and a passion for art and history enhanced by treks to forts, castles, battlegrounds, and cathedrals as an Army brat. Throughout her teens, she devoured romance novels and began writing poetry, beaming with pride when one of her haikus made it into the yearbook. Art school followed, and, in the middle of a college whirlwind, a friend introduced her to a handsome Army Officer who stole her heart. Eight moves, four children, and a lifetime of memories later, Katherine has finally lived in one place long enough to put down roots. She’s also found the time to chase a lifelong dream—writing happily-ever-afters, with a side of adventure, of course.

This book jumped right into the story with both feet, which left me a bit confused until things started flowing. I liked the initial idea of the book, but found it difficult to become invested in the characters. I didn't like the way that Carolina was held prisoner and yet couldn't remain angry with Gian Paolo, allowing him to make her second guess herself over a few kisses. I was too outraged over the whole "kidnapping" to buy into their love story. I liked it enough to keep reading it to completion, but I am only rating this book with three stars.
Romancing the Jewel is a fun romance. The opening scene as the masquerade ball captures your attention. Both are dealing with issues from mothers that were not ideal. Both are strong willed and stubborn. The chemistry between Gian-Paolo and Caroline is combustible. I would love to see a pinterest page of all the gowns she wore. The descriptions made them sound breathtaking. You can see my full review at More Than a Review dot com where I rate the level of sex, violence, language and drug/alcohol use in books.
Katherin Bone does it again! A fun story of intrigue, trust and love. Gian-Paulo is an Italian prince – Carolina Beugre is a jewelry designer from Georgia. A family heirloom necklace has been missing for over twenty years and Gian-Paulo searching for it to restore his families honor. When a replica of the necklace is put up for sale, he goes to great length to purchase it. Carolina delivers the necklace, not knowing who Gian-Paulo really is, but makes the mistake of wearing it to a masquerade, not knowing the chain of events that this will cause. Both Gian-Paulo and Carolina have been hurt by their mothers actions in the past – can they learn to trust again and love? I really enjoyed this novella, it kept me engaged until the very end.
