Wes Davis left Vista Falls when the girl he loved got pregnant and decided they were too young and irresponsible to be parents. He signed the adoption papers, but he never stopped loving the baby he’d never met. Years passed, success found him, but there was a hole in his heart and life that he knew only one thing could fill. His son.
Sage Breville was stunned to learn her ex-boyfriend was back in town. With him came a rush of memories and questions about the kind of life they could have had if she’d been brave enough to stand up to her parents years ago and raise the child she’d so desperately wanted with the man she loved.
There were some wounds time couldn’t heal, and Sage was convinced there was no way back for them. But did Wes see it her way or was he ready to forgive… and move on?

Great story, but too much G-d, it certainly was not needed in the book. Ended a little unfinished, needed an epilogue badly. Tose 2 things made it 2.5 stars instead of 5 stars. Wish she could a book without using using that word. Good writer. GJRA
Interesting enough , enjoyed reading it .
Rough Terrain is the first book in a new series by Cheryl Douglas. I have read most of her books, but I have to say that this was my favorite so far. I loved Wes and Sage. Their story made you feel every emotion. This is a story about second chances and true love. A truly wonderful book!!!
Sage and Wes were in love. Too young to fully understand that heartbreak was not too far ahead of them. Rough Terrain is a what if story. Faced with a tough choice, Sage makes a decision that she has spent years regretting. She lost Wes, her one true love, and with him went her chance at happiness. I received an ARC of Rough Terrain in exchange for an honest review. Cheryl Douglas is an author that I have become an avid fan of. Her stories are a gritty look into the human soul. Not always pretty but full of sage wisdom and poignant storytelling. With Rough Terrain, she created an atmosphere where the reader was able to glimpse the ramifications youth played in the self-destruction of a love affair that trickled into this couple's adult lives. At the heart of this story is a second chance to mend a broken heart and unite a fractured family.
