HelenKay Dimon kicks off her hot new romantic suspense series, Bad Boys Undercover, featuring the fierce men of Alliance— and the only women capable of taming their hearts

Camped out at a resort bar in Fiji, CIA operative Ward Bennett may look like he's on vacation but he's really deep undercover, hunting a dictator on the run. Ward may be on the job, but that doesn't mean there isn't time for the sexy female bartender. That is, until she drugs him.

When Tasha Gregory discovers the hottie on the barstool isn't who he pretends to be, her MI6 training kicks into gear, and she has no choice but to take him out. Problem is, Ward's not an easy man to put down for long. More than once, his interference almost blows her surveillance operation—and her ability to keep her heart to herself.

As the situation heats up, these two must decide whether they can trust one another—and quick. Working together might just make everyone safer, but getting close enough for comfort … might just get them killed.

Hot, Hot, Hot - Action Packed - Strike Back love! Wish it had been longer though. That's the thing about novellas, just not long enough. Ward Bennett is CIA undercover on the island of Fiji, and whereas he’d much rather be enjoying all the delights the tropical scenery can afford plus the luscious sexual delights of the bartender he’s been schmoozing the past few days, waking up tied to a chair with a splitting headache wasn’t in his plans. Discovering the beautiful bartender isn’t what she was pretending to be wasn’t in the plan either but he can learn to appreciate her talents, and her deadly skills. MI6 agent, Tasha Gregory would rather deal with the bad guys alone than put up with another misogynistic CIA operative who would prefer to have her see to getting coffee for him than take orders from a woman. When she discovers the gorgeous man she’s had to knock out and restrain is indeed, CIA, she wonders what she’s done to deserve him and isn’t about to let him get in her way. Finally agreeing to work together, Ward and Tasha quickly learn they’re essentially working toward the same goal – to stop the bad guy with way too many stinger missiles. Soon their goal becomes more personal when they start worrying about each other beyond the mission. If you’ve ever seen, and enjoyed, the HBO show, STRIKE BACK, you will love RUNNING HOT by HelenKay Dimon. Inspired by the show, HelenKay has done great justice to it. Ward Bennett and Ford Decker are very much like Damien Scott and Michael Stonebridge, and I love them. Fast talking, fast thinking, action-seeking and sexy as hell is what HelenKay has created in the Bad Boys Undercover series and RUNNING HOT is a fabulous jumping off point. Hooked by RUNNING HOT immediately because Ward is so much like Scott, I couldn’t put this book down. Ward is sexy, he’s a smartass, he’s got sexy hot maleness pouring out of his veins. He’s very definitely an Alpha male hero but he can also appreciate a woman with skills, strength, and the know how to keep herself, and others around her, alive – an Alpha female like Tasha Gregory, in whom he’s very definitely met his match. RUNNING HOT by HelenKay Dimon is an action-packed, sexy adventure in covert operations filled with danger, snarky dialogue, and enough steamy sexual tension, it nearly melted the cover off my e-reader. If you love action, smexy characters, and taking out the bad guys, I highly recommend RUNNING HOT by HelenKay Dimon. With a teaser for PLAYING DIRTY, the first full-length book in the series at the end of RUNNING HOT, I’m chomping at the bit to read the next one, but have to wait until I clear a slot in my reading schedule. I am so dying for Ford’s story, or is that Stonebridge’s? ***purchased for my own personal reading, but sharing my honest and unscripted review.

Running Hot by HelenKay Dimon was a great one to introduce me to the Bad Boys Undercover series! This book tell us how Ward and Tasha met (with some fun Ford in there as well) and really shows the tone of Dimon's writing and what kickass characters she writes. I am already hooked on this series and can't wait to read through them all. Ward and Ford are in Fiji for the CIA and Tasha is there for MI6 - both after the same target. They stumble upon each other and the most entertaining fashion (for the readers). The verbal play between Ward and Tasha is great and then when Ford throws in his opinions it makes for a fun read. The action in the story gets your blood pumping and the intimacy between Ward and Tasha hot! If you are looking for a romantic suspense series with edge of your seat action and sexy romance, give the Bad Boys Undercover a read and start with Running Hot!

Ward is CIA and Tasha is MI6. They are both working the same op, but for different countries. Ward has met his match in Tasha, she is efficient in every way. Sparks fly between the two of them and in their own way they learn to work together to get the bad guy. I had never read anything by this author before and I wasn't disappointed with this one. I thought I would read her novella and if I liked it I'd read her other works. I definitely plan on reading more!

3.5 stars--predictable, easy and fast read:  RUNNING HOT is the introductory novella in HelenKay Dimon’s adult contemporary Bad Boys Undercover action, suspense, romance series. This is CIA operative Ward Bennett and MI6 agent Tasha Gregory’s storyline.  The storyline follows Ward and Tasha’s undercover assignments in Fiji. Neither is aware that other is deep undercover or that they are looking for the same evil dictator whose attempting to amass a stash of military grade weapons. What ensues is Tasha’s take down of Ward; his decision to merge information with Tasha; and their pursuit of a man who is accumulating a horde of illegal weapons and machinery. Enter fellow CIA agent Ford who aids Tasha and Ward in their search for a missing MI6 operative; add some less than cooperative gun-toting assassins whose idea of fun is torture and mutilation; and you have yourself a recipe for disaster. RUNNING HOT is a predictable, quick and easy introductory read; an action packed story of suspense and romance. I did have some issues with the writing style-as though I was being told a story and not invited in-especially during the action and fight sequences which came across as stilted and cold-almost choreographed.  Our couple take a few minutes to ‘discover’ one another’s deepest secrets which mark the beginnings of a permanent relationship-one that will result in the formation of a new Black Ops Team known as Alliance-the merging of former CIA and MI6 agents whose assignments are dangerous and deadly.

This was an ok read but some parts were just slow and I mean for such a great plot there had been too many moments where the character was in deep thought, it started out fabulous but then....stretching it out, I actually found myself skipping through to dialog because it felt like half the book was about what they were thinking not the action I anticipated. I actually closed the book and went to sleep and did not finish it until 2 days later so that says something for a 150 page book.

4 Stars! It is amazing how much action is packed into this novella. It is non-stop....and I loved it. I am not sure that everything would have worked like it did in the story in real life but who cares. This story is so much fun. This story had everything a romantic suspense should have - wonderful characters, lots of action, tons of chemistry, and even a few laughs. Ward finds himself zip tied to chair at the beginning of the story and he has Tasha to thank for it. It doesn't take long for Ward to realize that Tasha is not just a bartender just as he is not really a businessman. Ward is actually a CIA operative on a mission, while Tasha is a MI6 operative from England that happens to be on a very similar mission. Ward and his partner, Ford, convince Tasha that they need to work together. Tasha quickly proves that she is a force to be dealt with and is just as tough as any man. Ward and Tasha stick together and find that the chemistry they felt while watching each other has not gone away but has intensified. Against all odds, the pair successfully work together. As I noted earlier, everything in this story may not be the way things would have worked in the real world but that is the case with most action stories. This story was hard to put down because you never know what was going to happen next. The writing was great and the characters were well fleshed out for such a short work. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. This is the first story by HelenKay Dimon that I have had a chance to read but I plan to look for others soon. This is also the beginning of a new series that I look forward to reading. I received a copy of this book from Avon Impulse via Edelweiss for the purpose of providing an honest review.

Great start to what promises to be an awesome new series!  Ward and Tasha have great chemistry whether they are engaged in banter or burning up the pages. Considering the short length of the book, the story did not feel rushed. Humor, action and romance blend together for a thoroughly enjoyable read.   I can't wait to see who Ford is paired up with in the next book. I hope Ward and Tasha give him a taste of his own medicine. eARC via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
