Safe in His Sites by Regan Black. Mitch is a firefighter who was suspended for hitting someone while at a fire. He's working at the bar until his situation is cleared up. Julia, an up-and-coming lawyer is being stalked and harassed so that she will give up confidential information about a high profile criminal case she is working. She goes to Grant for help and he assigns Mitch to protect her. The sparks start flying almost immediately. There was a great deal of sexual tension throughout the story although only a couple scenes. Mitch could see beyond her tough work persona to the soft caring woman underneath. They both had bad experiences in their past that they had to overcome to learn to trust each other. The scene in the car on the way to his parent’s was touching. The villain was pretty creepy and resourceful. I would say the romance in this one was about equal to the action adventure. I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. I feel honored to have received a review copy of Safe in His Sight by Regan Black. This is my honest review. I always feel glad to read Regan Black's books. She is one of the most generous writers I've had the pleasure of connecting with on Facebook. So, I really looked forward to her new series, Escape Club heroes. I love the premise of this series - what happens to our heroes when they have temporary setbacks? How can their many gifts be refocused so that they can continue to evolve and grow as the heroes they authentically are? Escape Club heroes begins to answer this question, and I continue to look forward to every book in this series. Julia Cooper, an associate in an aggressive defense-oriented law firm, has been assigned to defending, Danny Falk, possible head of an organized crime family. As soon as she gets this assignment, Julia receives mysterious, threatening texts that show she is being followed. Julia has overcome an unfortunate background and wants to keep her job and stay on Falk's case. Who can she turn to for protection and help? A friend's positive experience leads her to visit the Escape Club. Mitch Galway, a local firefighter who is on administrative leave while he awaits a hearing on whether he keeps his job or not, is now part of the Escape Club team. He is assigned as Julia's protector. Safe in His Sight follows the relationship between Julia and Mitch as the texter gets more and more aggressive in his/her threats. Will Julia be safe? Can she keep her job? Will Mitch get reinstated? Who is threatening Julia? I enjoyed watching my many questions resolve as I read Safe in His Sight. I highly recommend reading this series, Safe in His Sight, and your continued support of Regan Black and writers like her.

In this first book of her new Escape Club Heroes series, Regan Black takes us on a race against time to save the heroines job and reputation. The characters are easily connectable and keep us hoping throughout that they will remain safe and will find the bad guy! Looking forward to more in this series. She doesn't know what to do, but she does know of someone who might be able to help, so she visits the shadowy Escape Club. This was an exciting and intense book. Julia is a new hire at a prestigious law firm, and is assigned as part of the legal team on a major case. She has begun receiving threatening texts from a stalker who wants sensitive information on the case. Unable to go to her bosses or the police, she goes to the Escape Club for help. Firefighter Mitch Galway is assigned to be her bodyguard. There are sparks between Mitch and Julia from the beginning, even though they don't want to admit it. Mitch has had a relationship go bad because he got involved with a rescuee, and he doesn't want to risk that again. Julia was betrayed by a previous boyfriend because of her past, and she feels safer being on her own. I loved seeing Mitch's protectiveness grow into something more as he got to know Julia better. There were some really sweet scenes as he worked his way past her protective walls and got to know the vulnerable woman under the shark-lawyer facade. Julia had spent so long depending only on herself that she wasn't sure what to make of Mitch. I ached for her as she kept expecting him to pull away from her. I loved seeing her get absorbed into Mitch's family, and her horror at the events that happened during Sunday dinner reinforced her idea that she was no good for him. It doesn't take long for Mitch to be sure of his feelings for Julia, but he also knows that if he rushes her it will ruin everything. It was fun to see him try to pull himself back. Julia also suspects her feelings, but is afraid to risk her heart again. I really loved seeing them come together in the end, especially Julia's willingness to believe in a future together. The suspense of the story was really good. We find out quickly who the stalker is and what his motivation is. The big question is why he fixated on Julia. The intensity of the story kept going up as the stalker increased the pressure on her to cooperate with him. You never knew just what he was going to do next, and each new threat increased the tension. I thought the car bomb was bad, but the final confrontation really had me on the edge of my seat. I loved seeing Julia's part in it and how she stood up to him. The epilogue was a nice wrapup for the things that had been done to her. I do wonder if we'll see that hacker again. Julia's job situation was left hanging a little bit. I admit that I did not like her boss at all and would love to see her use her talents for someone else.

A thrilling story, that had me on the edge. I really enjoyed the storyline, the firefighter and lawyer working together, fighting for justice, trying to find the clues, while staying alive, and that seemed so overwhelming and difficult, many would have crumbled under the pressure. But not Julia and Mitch. The clues they needed to solve the identity of the stalker were nearly non-existent, yet they managed to move forward, in a believable way. The mystery of the stalker, the fear, and danger he exposed on Julie and Mitch, was escalating and fully absorbing. The tension and threat are so well done, I was completely absorbed in their world, with my heart raising and shoulders tense. Julie and Mitch has a great chemistry. Even though at the first sight they don't appear to have anything in common, but it turns out they are very much alike, when it comes to their heart, mind, values, and passions in life. They both are caring, deeply feeling individuals, with short tempers, and need to be in the middle of the action. Julie's childhood is something she would rather forget completely, yet it seems the issues still play a role on how she reacts to others and her nervousness to open up, her fear of rejection high. Mitch's family was a delight, not overly sweet or supportive, but realistic, loving and there when you truly needed them. I enjoyed this story immensely, it had the suspense built up well, the menace constant and deadly, the danger palpable. The attraction between Julie and Mitch was instant but grew deeper with time, giving it credibility, making their budding feelings tangible, giving a few swoon worthy moments towards the end. A fine work of romantic suspense, setting up the stage for the new series I will look forward to ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Regan Black launches her new Escape Club series with Safe in His Sight. A masterful suspense, this novel weaves a compelling story about how easy someone can become a target. The Escape Club is a place where those who need help can go. Run by an ex Philadelphia cop, Grant Sullivan makes it his mission to help those in need. Backed by a variety of public servants ready to help, the Escape Club is Julia Cooper’s first stop after a stalker tries to worm his way into her life and gain information on her first big case as a defense attorney. Paired with firefighter Mitch Galaway, Julia tries to get her life back without falling for her sexy new bodyguard. Not surprisingly, the firefighter and attorney have more in common than she expected and falling is love is part of the end game. Black hones her chops on this solo effort. The increasing suspense levels are well-thought out. The romance doesn’t ever overwhelm the mystery. I rather enjoyed knowing who the antagonist was early on in the book; a move that forces Black to increase suspense in other ways. I’m definitely on board for this new series. I can’t wait for the next one. Copy received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Hello everyone. Today is release day for Safe In His Sight. I happened to get an early copy of it and I can honestly say, this writers skills blew me away. I do not want to spoil the book for you but I highly highly recommend it. This book grabbed me in at the beginning and never let me go til the end. There is murder, mystery and mayhem with a little romance thrown in. I do want to warn you though, start this book early in the day as it is one of those that once you start, you can not put it down. I have a lot of favorite authors and I can tell you all, Regan has now been added to that list. I am wondering how she is going to top this book. It really is that good.
