Finish in a day. Story about a woman who pretty much lives her entire life in NYC working as the ticket person at a movie theatre. Beginning in the early 1900's we follow diary entries by Mazie who is the definition of a free spirit who just wants to experience life. Her entries are broken up by modern day chapters by people who knew Mazie or the guy who found her diary. Thru the years up to the late 1930's, Mazie spends the depression helping the hobos and homeless on the streets and her sister with depression and OCD. She is strong, endearing, vain in some ways, compassionate and really non judgmental. Way ahead of her time. Lovely read.
