Dragons plus other paranormals, good ending, great characters, vivid descriptions, and constant action - what more could you ask for? Her other books are addictive also. I just want to keep on reading more of these. I also enjoyed the Red Stone Security Series very much.

Ian and Fiona..oh man, talk about pining for one another! Ian met Fiona over 50 years ago on the paranormal fighting circuit. Ian is an alpha dragon/demon shifter. Fiona is a dragon shifter. They fell in love, but Fiona's family wouldn't allow them to be together. Jump to present day, and the two rediscover one another when unusual circumstances bring them together to fight a new threat. Separately, they're witty and intelligent with mad fighting skills. Together, Ian and Fiona were a paranormal version of Romeo and Juliet with a narrow escape at a bad ending! This was a great second chance romance, full of surprises, fun secondary characters, and a lot of pent up frustration! I love this romantic fantasy series the author has created! Wolves, vampires, dragons, demons, demi-gods..the choices are limitless! Katie Reus weaves a magical spell with each couple with their individual brand of humor, suspense, action, and romance. Each book could be read separately, but it's much more fun to read them in order!

I absolutely loved this installment in Katie's paranormal urban fantasy romance series! Saved by Darkness by Katie Reus is an exceptional addition to Katie’s Darkness series which features thrilling romantic tales encompassing an incredible mix of paranormals including dragons, wolf-shifters, demons, demi-gods and vampires. Even though this is the sixth installment in Katie’s Darkness series and there are interconnected characters shared with the previous books, Saved by Darkness can easily be enjoyed without hearing or reading the previous books in the series. That actually holds true for any of the books in this series. That said, I would recommend reading this series in order, if possible. Doing so will give readers a better understanding of the primary and supporting characters and the whys and wherefores of their interactions. Saved by Darkness is the second-chance-at-love story of half-dragon/half-demon Ian McCabe and dragon Fiona O’Riley and is told from several third person perspectives in the present day and with flashbacks from the past. Ian is the only male Fiona has ever loved and that she still loves. Fifty-two years ago, Fiona had rejected Ian because her family threatened to hurt him if she did not walk away from him. Breaking up with him caused him – and her - immeasurable pain which has not abated over time. Now he’s walked back into her life determined to find out why she left him and set on winning her back. But her family is still out there, so Fiona isn’t on board with giving their relationship a second chance. That is, until they are forced to band together to fight a new enemy in the Hell realm threatening humanity and supernaturals as well. Both primary characters are awesome. Ian is alpha through to his core. He’s powerful and a scary fighter – not a creature to cross. Even so, he shows heart-rending tenderness with Fiona and, even though it’s not in Ian’s nature to follow, he is remarkably controlled and exhibits amazing finesse in his dealings with Finn and the Stavros Pack. Fiona is also an impressive creature – but she has a sweetness in her make-up. She sacrificed everything for Ian’s safety and has since worked tirelessly at running a shelter for abused and battered supernatural females. The shelter sits on the periphery of the Stavros Estate, run by the shifter alpha Finn Stavros. I listened to the audio of Saved by Darkness which is vividly performed by Jeffrey Kafer. He has very capably narrated the entire series-to-date. His delivery is polished as he brings each character to life with voices and inflections that sound genuinely realistic. His narration is extremely clear and easy to understand and follow. He differentiates between the characters to where I experienced no issue whatsoever knowing who is speaking at any time. Without a doubt, his performance enhanced my enjoyment of the book. I highly recommend the audios in this series to both audiophiles and audio- newbies. Saved by Darkness is a great book as is the norm from Katie Reus. She seamlessly blends paranormal romance, suspense and danger incorporating a myriad of surprising twists and turns into addictive perfection! Believe me, there is not one boring second in the entire book as I was captivated straight through to the emotional roller coaster ending. I don’t know what it is about this author’s shifters and demons but I just cannot get enough of them. They are your typical possessive, growling, super sexy sort of supernaturals however the way they are depicted and the voice the author gives them makes all the difference. Ian and Fiona are both dragon shifters who had to part ways a while ago because her family didn’t approve of their relationship. Cut 50 years later and they get to reunite only to have their time together shortened by evil forces beyond their control. Like I said, Ian and Fiona are pretty much typical in the sense of that they are alpha by nature but when it came down to do what was right for everyone they were both wiling to relent power for the greater good. That’s another thing I liked about the story; the author was able to tell a believable story where there already was one true leader in the series however she managed to include other alpha characters without stripping power away from the Alpha of the whole pack. Another favorite part of mine was that we spent more time with old characters and we finally got to meet the “sperm donor” of the half-demon siblings, which by the way are kind of my favorite characters of the whole pack. All in all I thought it was a great story and I cannot wait to see who the next couple in the series will be. 4 stars. *** I received this book from the author at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.***

I did not want to put this one down. I wanted to keep reading. I enjoyed the story. I like returning to series that are great. And this one is one of my favorites. I cannot wait to read more. Ian McCabe, half demon and half dragon shifter, lost the one he loved long ago. Now that he has a second chance can he prove that he is worth her love? Will she give him the chance? He is strong enough to protect her and he will do what ever it takes to win her again. Fiona O'Riley pushed him out of her life. Protecting him. But seeing him again brings back the memories. She must stay strong. * ** *** **** ***** **** *** ** * Possible spoilers.... A few of my favorite lines. * ** *** **** ***** **** *** ** * "He thought of her every dam day. The woman lived inside him." "The connection she felt to him defied logic or sanity." "So long ago her heart had ripped into pieces when she lost him and it had never mended." "She couldn't walk away from him again. Her heart couldn't take it and she didn't think his could either. When she'd left him, it had been like cutting off a limb, leaving part of herself behind. And she had, essentially. Because Ian was part of her, embedded in her skin, her soul." "It just seemed that the ones in power were out of their minds with the need to control everything." "Fifty-two years he'd been missing her, wanting her, needing her. All the pain of living without her faded away, as if it had been a mere blink in time."

Saved by Darkness. (Darkness Series – Book 6) by Katie Reus. This is an excellent paranormal series. It has anything a paranormal romantic suspense reader could want – shifters, vampires, demons, demi-gods – you name it you can probably read about it in this world. I would recommend reading the other books in this series first – you will get a better understanding of the characters, secondary characters and their interactions. Ian McCabe – half dragon/half demon has loved Fiona O’Reilly for decades. He is determined to win her back and to discover the reason she rejected him so many years ago. Fiona, willing to sacrifice her love to keep Ian safe does what she has to do. However, as an enemy emerges and Ian and Fiona work together to save humans from destruction will this be their new beginning or the beginning of the end for them? Ms. Reus does a great job with the characters in this book. I could revisit the Darkness World that she has created over and over. I look forward to more books in this series.

The Darkness series by Katie Reus has been one hell of a ride! We got to see shifters, vampires, demons and even dragons. Ian, a half-dragon/ half- demon shifter almost lost his mate once and this time around will do anything to make sure she stays where she belongs, by his side. Fiona was betrayed by those she loved the most but now Ian is back in her life and Fiona still craves the connection they had. Fiona’s family has done a lot of damage between them but the more time they spend together the more they realize that not everything has been a lie. Just when they start to be happy again, a new threat arises. Saved by the darkness was really good. The story is told by multiple POVs, which means that we get to see more aspects of the story rather than two. We get to hear from Finn, whom I L-O-V-E and Ophelia who I didn’t realize how amazing she was until now!!! I really loved that we got two couples instead of one in the book. Fiona and Ian’s story was incredible but reading about the rest of the characters was just as awesome. I can’t wait to see what’s next! *ARC provided in exchange for an honest review*

Ian McCabe is a powerful half-demon, half-dragon. He has endured pain and rejection and shouldered on. He loved Fiona O'Riley with every fiber of his being and then she left. After all these years, he still loves her and mourns her loss. Suddenly he sees her again and their attraction is reignited. Can the overcome the past and be together forever? Fiona and Ian are compelling characters. These dragon shifters caught my interest and pulled me into their story. I loved their power and their passion. They are fierce and protective. When both humans and supernaturals are threatened, these two along with Finn and his Stavros pack go to the Hell realm to fight an unknown enemy. Will they be successful? The odds aren't in their favor as the suspense and danger increase. I couldn't put the book down until I got answers. Hell is dark and deadly and added to my feeling of dread. This is a worthy addition to the Darkness Series. I enjoyed catching up with familiar characters from previous books. Katie Reus is an excellent author. I enjoy her stories and can't wait to see what happens next.

As always Ms. Reus pulls you into the story and the characters are brought to life. I laughed, I cheered, and I cried. Dragons, wolves, demons, and vampires. You can never go wrong reading one of Katie's books. Ian is half demon half dragon. He lived in the Hell realm with a brother until another brother found them and brought them to Earth. Ian realizes the woman he was to mate with, lives right near him.. She was supposed to have been mated to another dragon according to her family. Now this was fifty some years ago since he saw her last. If she's single, then he plans to mate her and make her his. Fiona has loved Ian for fifty some years. She helps abused shifters relocate. When she goes to a local bar, she sees Ian and can't believe it. Her feelings are just as strong as they were years ago. When her establishment is attacked, she is shot with a poison dart. They go to the Hell realm to rescue her friend and find out why humans are disappearing. They are shocked by who's behind it and she's told she only has a few days to live. Will Ian lose her after all these years or will he follow her into the afterlife? *The reason it took so long for me to read was because I got sick* *I voluntarily reviewed this from netgalley *

It’s been awhile since I have ventured into the paranormal world, and while I don’t do it often, I only do it with a select few authors. Katie Reus is one of those authors. In her newest release, Saved by Darkness we are pulled into a paranormal world filled with dragon shifters, demons and so much more. We also enter a hell realm. Creepy! The world building is amazing and the characters are even better. The main characters in the story are Ian and Fiona and they are lost lovers. They first met over 50 years ago and are pulled apart by her family. Present day they are back together to stand up against an enormous obstacle pulling in several others willing to fight along side them. In addition to fighting for their lives, their love grows stronger and just when we think they will be together, something comes in between them yet again. Ugh! Reus does an amazing job with Saved by Darkness. She writes an imaginative story with characters that are endearing to the reader. I enjoy the relationship part of stories sometimes more than overall plot itself and this one has it everywhere from family to lovers to friends and packmates. The action scenes are great but the emotionally charged scenes get my heart racing just as much. Oh and the love scenes are so sweet and sensual yet intense. Saved by Darkness is a fantastically written paranormal romance full of magic, romance, action and adventure. If you are looking for a break from reality, pick this one up!

Book 6 in the Darkness series gives us Ian (half-demon, half-dragon shifter) and Fiona's (dragon shifter) story of second-chance love. A chance meeting 50 years ago made Ian's dragon stand up as it recognized Fiona as its mate. Happy and ready to begin a life together, Fiona prepares to leave her family with Ian. Unfortunately, Fiona's family has other ideas and they don't include a mixed-species male. Tricked into believing Fiona had mated another (as dragons mate for life), Ian walks away with heavy heart and doesn't look back. Now, years later, Ian learns Fiona is in the same town and living close to the Stavros pack territory operating a safe haven for women of domestic abuse. Even after all the years, Fiona still holds Ian's heart. Determined to see her, even if she doesn't see him, Ian follows Fiona to a meeting only to witness her being attacked and her colleague kidnapped. Learning that her colleague has been taken to a Hell dimension, Ian, Fiona, Finn and Stavros pack members go there to find and bring her back. While there they discover a much more sinister plot is happening involving kidnapping humans and the mixing & selling of demon blood. Battling demons, moving trees, and unseen dark forces, the group comes face-to-face with family, both estranged and new. And discover what it takes and means to be a "family." Ms. Reus takes us on a suspense-filled ride loaded with twists, turns, and unknowns, while still giving us the sweetest second-chance romance HEA! The Darkness series is one of my favorites, filled with dragons, wolves, vamps, demons, non-stop adventures, and love. Highly recommended read and series! *ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great book; this is the sixth book in the Darkness series written by Katie Reus. Half-demon, half-dragon shifter Ian McCabe is hellbent on getting back the only woman he’s ever loved. When Fiona O’Riley kicked him out of her life decades ago, he thought she was gone for good. Now that she’s back, nothing will stop him from claiming her. But when tragedy strikes and they discover a wicked agenda for the mass murder of humans, they must work together to take down the enemies that threaten everyone. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

4.5 stars!!!! I voluntarily requested an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I have read every book thus far in this series which goes to show how much I enjoy it. This book was no different and I enjoyed it as much, if not more than the previous books. I love a good paranormal shifter read so this book was perfect for me. I was happy to read about and see the characters that were in previous books in this one. Ian has wanted Fiona since the moment he’s laid eyes on her but with everything that going on; will time be on their side? Even if you haven’t read the previous books in this series, you can still read this one and not feel lost. I highly recommend this book and the previous books in this series. I can’t wait for my next read from this author.
