About the Author

Krystal Shannan goes to sleep every night dreaming of mythical realms with werewolves, vampires, fae, and dragons. Occasional a fabulous, completely human story slips into the mix, but powers and abilities usually crop up without fail, twisting reality into whatever her mind can conceive.

As a child, her parents encouraged her interests in Ancient Greek and Roman mythology and all things historical and magickal. As an adult, the interests only grew. She is a child of Neverland and refuses to ever stop believing in fairies. She is guilty of indulging in and being a Buffy the Vampire Slayer groupie as well as an Angel fan. For those of you unfamiliar with the world of Joss Whedon, you are missing out!

She also makes sure to watch as many action and adventure movies as possible. The more exciting the better. Yippee-Ki-Yay… If you don’t know the end of that phrase, then you probably don’t like the same movies.

She enjoys reading romance in all genres, but especially paranormal. Her favorite book is ACHERON by Sherrilyn Kenyon. But really, if it has a ‘Happily Ever After’, she’s on board!

Krystal writes stories full of action, snark, magick, a little bit of humor, and heart-felt emotion. If you are looking for leisurely-paced sweet romance, her books are probably not for you. However, for those looking for a magickal ride, filled with adventure, passion, and just a hint of humor. Welcome home.
If you are looking for romance without magick, look no further…Krystal also writes contemporary romance as Emma Roman!

Very enjoyable read. I loved the characters and Sam and Margaret were absolutely fantastic. I like the mixed shifter mate deal. The story was full of romance, suspense and sadness but all came together in the end to give you hope for the next book. I really enjoy this series and definitely look forward to the next book. Highly recommend if you enjoy paranormal and shifter romances.

I really enjoyed Saving Margaret.  The idea of a bear and a wolf mating??? Wow..did not see that coming, but Scott is adorable and Maggie is funny and cute.  I love how their differences are played up, pack versus nonpack shifters.  You can really sink your teeth into this story.  It is truly about family and the bonds that they have.  Everyone needs an Aunt Breena !! You have to read it to know what I mean...and you will want one too....Reading this book, I kept thinking..ooh, hope they get a book soon.  I mean you just want to know more about the characters.  If you like shifter books, romance with will love this book.  Sad part....the next one is not out yet :(   But I am sure it will be worth the wait !! :)

I'll be the first to admit that I was a little leery of reading this one after having read and been so disappointed with the heroine in book 1, Chasing Sam. But I am so glad I set that aside and read this anyway. Although there are minor appearances of characters form book 1, Saving Margaret is a book onto itself. I wouldn't even have known it was the second in a series.  Margaret exudes everything that it means to be an Alpha's only child. She is strong and independent, yet maintains a soft quality that makes it so obvious why Scott is enamored from the moment he lays eyes on her. Scott is the very definition of a big teddy bear, no pun intended. This bear shifter is both tender and fierce when the occasion calls for it. Their courting had me both sighing and laughing.  With a unique world building ability, Ms. Shannan made Vegas shifter politics and a shifter world heartpoundingly real. You know you've got a great story when you find yourself still up at 2am trying to convince yourself, unsuccessfully I may add, that you're really only just going to finish this one chapter then you'll go to bed. Did I mention I was unsuccessful at convincing myself?  Saving Margaret has definitely redeemed the Vegas Mates series for me and I can't wait to see what happens next.

A lot of novellas are lacking something because of length, but this is not one of them. In the shifter world, Margaret and Scott find out they are true mates even though they are different species. Also there is war brewing between the old royal line versus North American shifters. This story continues a thread from the first story Chasing Sam and makes for exciting reading. The book is fun and sexy between the H/h with him being a loner type and she from a large extended pack. But there is also a darker, exciting story as the American shifters find themselves in danger. This is a great read and I want to read the next!

In the spirit of full disclosure I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Krystal has once again blended magic and shape shifters, with modern-day activities and romance. Margaret is a Were-wolf and an interesting character, well fleshed out and keeps the readers on their toes. Scott is a Were-bear, and a fabulous hero. Strong, sexy, charming in his gruff way. He’s Chase’s {the hero from book one} best friend and they were in the military together too. I would have liked to see Chase and Scott interact a bit, but Chase and his mate Samantha were off on their own adventure. All in all it’s obvious from book two that MRS. Shannan has a lot of fun twists in store for us throughout the series. My only complaint is the whole Maggie/Margaret aspect is confusing since Maggie is a common nickname for Margaret and in this series they are two different characters. The ending is a bit sad, but the future of the series is promising.

Great Paranormal Read!!!!! This is the second book in the Vegas Mates series and in my opinion the best so far!! I fell in love with the hot, sexy, alpha Scott and the beautiful, strong, funny Margaret and I am trying to wait patiently for the next book. If you are looking for a great paranormal series full of suspense, drama, humor and hot sexy alpha males this is definitely the series for you. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Well done Mrs. Shannan. I look forward to reading more of your work in the future.

Super hot & action packed!!!!I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Since I read Chasing Sam (book #1 in the series) I was more than happy to except this book. I was looking forward to Saving Margaret and I was not disappointed. The Vegas Mates series has become one of my favorite series. Krystal Shannan's descriptive writing and amazing story line make you feel like you are in the book. And let's talk about the hot love scenes. SUPER HOT!!!! Scott is a hot bear-shifter who falls in love with Margaret who is a wolf-shifter. Though their species are not supposed to co-mingle, their bodies are pulled together by a force neither can control. They are mates and no matter how much Margaret tries to avoid it, her wolf needs Scott. Scott is the ultimate alpha male. Tall, strong, gorgeous, and protective of his mate. And let's not forget sex personified. On their journey together they will suffer pain and find love they never knew existed. And will join forces in a battle that could bring down their species existence. In this second installment the story continues right from the end of book one and will leave you begging for more after you finish. I am looking forward to book three and anything else Krystal has to offer.

A good mix of interesting story line and characters. At this time we could learn from animals how to get along. If bears a day wolves can find common ground we as citizens can too.

Saving Margaret is book two in the Vegas Mates series by Krystal Shannan. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by the author. I read book one of this series some time ago, Chasing Sam, and fell in love with Sam and Chase. While each book in this series is about a different couple, a main thread runs throughout so it would be beneficial to read the series in order. Margaret Taylor is a wolf shifter. While at the wedding of Sam and Chase, Margaret is asked to dance by probably the biggest and hottest guy she has ever seen. It doesn’t take but a few minutes for her to feel the magick. This man, whom she just met, is her mate. The pull is strong. He isn’t a wolf, though. He’s a bear shifter. While it is not prohibited for mates to be other species, it is not a usual occurrence. She barely knows this man, though, and it is overwhelming. She has not had positive experiences with bears in the past. How does she know how he will treat her? “How could she ignore the connection they had. He’d waited over a century to find a mate. The magick pulled hard. She couldn’t deny him for long without driving herself crazy…him too.” Scott O’Hearn knew Chase when they served in the military. Like Chase, his time was up and he was looking forward to a different life. He has waited so long to find his true mate and he is not letting Margaret go. Still, he will try to give her the space she needs to adjust. That is until he gets a call that there was an unknown scent of a strange wolf at one of her windows. He will protect her whether she likes it or not. While wolves live within packs, enjoying constant company and always being in each other’s business, bears are solitary beings. Scott’s cabin is high in the mountains. How could Margaret leave her pack and adjust to such a quiet, solitary life? No matter what the shifter’s animal is, the animal within is like a second living, breathing being. The human personality is usually the one in charge but the animal and the human side actually converse inside the mind of the shifter. It took me a bit to get used to this but I ended up liking it. When Margaret’s wolf recognized Scott as their mate, she helped Margaret to accept him. On the down side of this, it is possible for the animal side to overtake the human side. When this happens, bad things follow. Such is the case with Sam’s mother, Renata. Her wolf wants revenge for wrongs done to her by the council and so many others. She is vowed to get her revenge. There is a council that rules all shifters. The council has gotten much too powerful and a rebellion is brewing between the shifters and the council, with Renata right in the middle of it all. The only good thing about this is that it is bringing all shifters together for their cause. “It will take all of us working together to completely break the hold the Council has on us.” “Change is coming, love. We all have to compromise and bend a little.” I enjoyed this. Scott was one sexy bear and once these two finally came together, they definitely sizzled. I’m also enjoying the underlying battle for power and I look forward to seeing what happens next in the third book, Waking Sarah.

This is a good story. A real page turner! I couldn't put it down till I finished it. Book two is more intense than book one and I suspect book three will continue the same way.

- 3.5 Saving Margaret Stars - Saving Margaret is book two in the Vegas Mates series by Krystal Shannan. It has been quiet sometime since I read book one Chasing Sam, so I have to admit I was a little lost at the beginning, but once I got more into the story things came back and I enjoyed reading Saving Margaret. Margaret, wolf shifter and only daughter of an alpha. She comes across self-sufficient and independent, with a softer side that we can appreciate. I liked Margaret. She has some of the same fears most women do when falling for a man. Scott, bear shifter and army buddy of Chase. Scott comes across as a gentle giant, protective, and dominate all rolled together in a sweet teddy bear package. I liked Scott and I love bear shifters they are just so interesting to read about. Once I got over the hump of the first few pages I feel back into the world that Krystal Shannan created with her Vegas Mates. Their was no shortage of action with the Council coming into town and stirring things up as well as a stocker going after Margaret. The author has created an intriguing society that the shifters operate in and the shifters themselves are interesting characters, in that the animal spirit feels like a separate entity inside them and the human part can communicate with the animal spirit. It’s interesting to read the conversations they have with themselves. The mate bond is an insta-know thing and the author does a great job explaining this and how the shifters know who is their mate. The only thing that got to me is what happens to the men that show up to capture Renata Demakis. I don’t want to say anymore only that most are trained in the army plus they are shifters, so they should have known better. You will just have to read to find out what I’m talking about. If you have not tried the Vegas Mates series yet, I recommend you give it a try. Book one Chasing Sam is usually up for free. I’m curios to see how everything pans out and plan to continue with this series.

Margaret Taylor, a wolf shifter, is a VIP Hostess Manager at the Mirage Casino & Hotel. She meets Scott O'Hearn, a bear shifter and ex Army friend of Chase Michaels (from Book 1 Chasing Sam) at Chase and Samantha's wedding reception. The moment they see each other, they recognize that they are each others mates. There's trouble brewing because Samantha's pack and others are defecting from the Council which is forbidden. The Council sends agents after the defectors to teach them a lesson and bring the packs under their control again. Margaret is kidnapped and her pack is furious. You'll have to read the story for yourself to find out what the outcome is. There is lots of steamy sex, action, mayhem and a whole array of unique supernatural characters. I love the interactions between them all. The book grabs you right in from the beginning to the end. I so highly recommend this book and it's a terrific continuation of Book 1 - Chasing Sam. This one explains things from the first book but you can read this alone. (BO)

Saving Margaret by Krystal Shannan really took me by surprise.  This is the second book in the Vegas Mates Series, but it shakes everything up.  It is full of love, joy, and immeasurable tragedy. It definitely sets the stage for some very interesting possibilities.  I very much enjoyed this segment and am looking forward to what will come next.

I enjoyed Margaret and her responses to finding out that Scott, a grizzly bear shifter is her mate. The moments between these two were hilarious at times. The continued sub plot from the first book gave this book a bit of continuity in the series. For that reason I would recommend reading the first book first. The first book is just as good and I definitely love everything there is about the Vegas Mates series. Ms. Shannan writes a story that is hot, sexy and funny and highly recommended.

I love this series. I have already started reading Vegas mates # 3, and I cannot put it down! The author does a great job drawing you into the world she's made and keeping you there (and on the edge of your seat). Anyone who loves a great story and is into shape shifters this is the series, AND author for you!

BEARS!!!! I adore Bear shifters and Krystal Shannan doesn't let me down with this heartwarming entertaining novel! This was absolutely perfect. The characters are perfect. The story line is perfect. No whiny female getting on my nerves to the point where I wanted to stop reading midway through. All of the characters, whether they are main or secondary, are strong. There's the bad guy who was perfect. I didn't get bogged down with a bunch of b.s. page filling details that were not necessary to the story. Everything played out exactly as it should. All in all, this is a fun, sassy story about two people falling in love, neither of whom think they deserve it. They make new friends, establish a home for themselves, and live seriously happily ever after- was there any doubt they wouldn't? I seriously cannot say enough good things about this book. Buy it, people, seriously!

**** Love Scott and Margaret**** I loved how the big, sweet but Dominant bear shifter goes after what he wants! Sparks fly between Scott and Margaret and no way is he letting her run away! There is danger and some will not survive but this book is a definite must read! I love all the characters and how everyone sticks by one another even though they are not all the same species!

After having read Chasing Sam (Vegas Mates 1) I could not wait to see what else Krystal had in store for her readers so when Saving Margaret came out I knew I had to get my hands on a copy.  Now I must I say that I absolutely enjoyed this book.   This book can be read as a stand-alone, however it would be best to read the series in order as it will make it easier to follow the whole adventure that this series will be definitely be providing.     Saving Margaret provided answers to questions that had been raised in part one of the series. It provided me with a better understanding of Renata Damakis behavior, although this still did not ender to me. I just can’t fathom how a mother could treat her children that way. This book as well as provides quite a unique take on werewolves as well as other shifters.  It was quite entertaining to read about romance between a werewolf and a bear-shifter.  Saving Margaret has the right mix of romance, action and suspense.  It pulled me in from the first page and I just could not wait to find out what was going to happen next.  I was so tempted to cheat by skipping chapters just to see what was coming next, but I am so glad I didn’t as it made the ending more worthwhile. There were quite a few twists and some unexpected occurrences.  My first reaction was OMG, tell me this isn’t so. If you had never read one of Krystal’s books my advice to you is to start with this awesome series, you will not regret it.

Saving Margaret is the second book in the Vegas Mates Series and it fills in a lot of the questions you have about Sam's Mother at the end of Chasing Sam. This book as a lot going for it and you need to read Chasing Sam so you are on par with is going on. I really like Margaret and Scott as a couple , there is a lot going on but it keeps you reading.  Love the part where Scott kinda loses it due to being surrounded by wolves and just wants to be with Margaret.  I like that Krystal has expanded the characters, the action, and the drama. There is some bad things that happen due to Renata's wolf going crazy.  I am not going to spoil anything but I like where this series is going and can't wait to read more.
