Scaling-Up: From Cell to Landscapeby P. R. van Gardingen (Editor)
Scaling-up involves a group of techniques currently used mainly in studies of global environmental change, to link information between levels, or scales, within complex biological and physical systems. This has involved research at many levels of organisation within each system. The need to link and intergrate information between scales underlines the scientific approaches described in this book. The theory, practise and challenges of scaling are discussed using examples from current research.
